Empire, T2 and Aliens are a solid gold standard for sequels as all 3 are considered top tier in their genre. I also throw in Back to the future 2 in that mix.

Terminator 2 is the biggest one that comes to mind. Most people associate the terminator series with that movie. Ill be back and come with me if you want to live have been quoted a lot and associated with that movie (even though the first quote was only in the second one)

The Color of Money (follow up to The Hustler). Both great but Color of Money edged it out IMO.

The Rambo book was great. The second sucked.

There was a passage in the first that stills holds true to this day.

 

When you meet a man, you shake his hand, look him in the eyes, give a firm shake, and walk away.

 

The first Rambo did this. It was in the book.
