Because Trumps wall proposal is 100% a political stunt.

Honest answer.

Probably because that would have been too easy.

Why not wait until the house switchs, then ramp up the emergency level, and have both sides play bullshit two-party politics as usual. They are all focking garbage.

Trump didn't want a wall, he wanted the fight.

That's why he's scheduled the press conference with Schumer and pelosi in front of cameras instead of behind closed doors. This is a campaign issue. It's a rallying point with this crowd. But your question is well taken. If he really wanted it oh, he could have easily had it the last two years.

Works well politically. The GOP gets to say hey we fought for awhile! Without the pain of actually having a wall and potentially losing key Latina States like Florida.

These two nail it...plus

How the Border Wall Is Boxing Trump In

Before it became the chief sticking point in a government shutdown drama that threatens to consume his presidency at a critical moment, President Trump’s promise to build a wall on the southwestern border was a memory trick for an undisciplined candidate.

As Mr. Trump began exploring a presidential run in 2014, his political advisers landed on the idea of a border wall as a mnemonic device of sorts, a way to make sure their candidate — who hated reading from a script but loved boasting about himself and his talents as a builder — would remember to talk about getting tough on immigration, which was to be a signature issue in his nascent campaign.

“How do we get him to continue to talk about immigration?” Sam Nunberg, one of Mr. Trump’s early political advisers, recalled telling Roger J. Stone Jr., another adviser. “We’re going to get him to talk about he’s going to build a wall.”

It was supposed to be a figure of speech..like Al Gore's "lockbox" except "tough on immigration" until POTUS started getting cheers and started adding details like concrete, price tags, 50 feet high....

Wiffle nailed it. And thats the reason I am deaf to the argument: Why dont the Democrats just give Donald the waaaaalllllllllllll?!?!?

If Democrats gave Donald the $5.7b, he and his supporters would run to Twitter to declare Victory and a few months from now he would threatening another shutdown for more money. It will never end with Trump because what he wants is to keep riling the slack jaws up over this issue.

Unfortunately for Don I think anyone but the most deranged Trump nuthuggers can see right through his sh1t at this point. You can probably get away with telling Drobeski and Filthy that Mexico is paying for your border wall and blaming the shutdown on Pelosi but most people arent that gullible.

Why wasn't wall funding passed when Republicans had a majority in the Senate and House?

Honest question

Even with a Republican controlled House and Senate, Trump didn't have the votes. His immigration plan lost 60-39 in the Republican controlled senate. If he makes a big deal/national emergency or shuts down the government then, who does he try and make the bad guy?

If he waits until the Democrats control a chamber of congress before making a big deal out of it, he can try and blame only Democrats.

I think everyone agrees that a wall in certain locations is beneficial. And I don't think anyone thinks it's going to stop all the illegal crossings and trafficking. It's not perfect, but it is better. What's the issue with doing that then? Besides orange man bad?

Completely different discussion.

Ive asked before and no one can answer it! This is where the conversation should start.

What is the benefit of not building the wall? The other side of the argument has been out their since day one.

The conversations starts at does doing something provide enough benefits and return to justify doing it, the answer is no. YWIA

Honest question

Because a majority of them don't want it. Their donors like cheap labor and depressed wages.

Im not totally sure all the exact votes and bill and budgets.

However just because you have a majority in the senate doesnt mean all bills get passed. You need 60 votes (out of 100) to pass it. A simple majority (51 vs 49) for example doesnt get it done.
