Dynasty Auction Keeper (Need to be under $100 for draft)

Recommended Posts

In a dynasty auction keeper league (PPR), I'm starting to think who I should keep. We have a $100 budget and you can keep anyone you want as long as you go into the draft under the $100 salary cap)

My Team

Probable Keepers

QB - Luck ($23)

RB - D Johnson ($9)

RB - P Perkins ($4)

WR - O Beckham ($12)

WR - Allen Robinson ($17)

WR - Donte Moncrief ($5)

On the fence about:

TE - Hunter Henry ($6)

WR - Tyreek Hill ($7)

If i kept everyone above here, that's $83/100 with starting lineup pretty much filled. I also have available to keep if wanted.

RB - Doug Martin ($13)

RB - S Vereen ($2)

RB - Benard ($6)

Would you trade Luck? Maybe for a Mariota ($5) and Tevin Coleman ($5). It would be nice to shed some budget before the draft and have enough to get 1 more stud if possible.

What's doug martin's trade value?

Assuming there is no benefit to not spending all your cash, Martin is likely someone you should keep.

It does not look like Martin is about to be replaced. They drafted a RB in round 5 of this years draft. I figure if they were to replace him, they would have picked up a RB higher in the draft.

he is suspended the first couple of games of this season, but I'd expect him to come in ready to fight for the right to keep his job. I am expecting a good season.

I think the smart move is to hang onto him at least until he has had a couple of good games, and then see what the market is for him. Right now his trade value isnt very high.

I'm not sure there is value in trading Luck. if he wouldnt have missed the one game he would have likely thrown for 4500+ yards again.

the only concern with Luck is that his line hasnt been good and he has taken too many hits. They drafted a tackle last season which helped but I kinda hoped they'd add more help on the line this year. No such luck (pardon the pun)

That being said, Mariota is good, and has a bright future. But so far he has yet to throw for 4000 yards in a season. Luck is the better guy to keep in my opinion. But if you get a kings ransom, then a package including Mariota may be worth your while.

Thanks for the response Ray. I should of been more clear with my post, I have $100 to fill out my entire roster (before and after the draft). So my keeper costs then the remaining money is what i have to draft with. The challenge about keeping martin @ $13 is that would leave me at $96/100 if i kept all from above. Wouldn't be able to fill out my roster. I would either have to drop Luck which would open up $23 to draft with and/or Hunter Henry at $6. I could try to replace luck with like an eli manning / matt ryan type who probably will cost half of Luck at the draft.

This is what makes the auction keeper league very interesting because not only do you have to consider the player but how much he costs and who will be able to afford in the upcoming draft.

From my team above, who do you think are must keep players at their prices?

I get it. like I initially said, my assumption is that there is no benefit to not spending all your cash. In this case there is a benefit.

Given Martin's apparent value currently, you may be able to buy him back at a lower price than you would pay to keep him. but that's a know your league thing.

The best way to figure out a strategy is to go through each team and guess who they would keep. I'd break it down the same way you did for your own. Then you will have a good idea of who would be available in the actual draft (or auction).

I think given the current info, Hunter Henry may be good to drop. If Gates is still playing its tough to justify keeping him. Ditto for Hill. As for Perkins.... He's a bit more hit or miss as its looking like he's the #1 guy there as of today, but the Giants have been kicking tires in free agency, so I'm inclined to think he may not be the man they want to go with in the end. If he starts, hes likely good value. If he doesnt, he's not. This is one of those situations you wanna keep a close eye on prior to your keeper deadline.

Allen Robinson is a guy to look at as well. I am not on par with your salary structure in your league, but the price you have for him does not match what his production was last year. going into this year, he's one of those guys with a low floor and a high ceiling. You might be able to buy him back for the same or less than the $17 you are keeping him at. (once again, this is a know your league thing) If you believe this to be true, the smart move is to not keep him. I personally think your odds of getting value for your money is greater with Martin than it is for Allen Robinson (although each player has his own risks)
