First pick in our Rookie/FA draft

True, he won't be ready until the 2nd half of the season, but is a 2nd round pick not worth it for a possible top 15 WR for the 2nd half, and future seasons?

First pick in our Rookie/FA draft

Strange development. The last team to drop players wound up dropping Michael Crabtree. Don't ask, its better that way. My focus has been on restocking RB, but I have an eye on improving TE with one of my three position player picks. I feel good about my WR situation. With Crabtree in the mix, would you consider an early 2nd for him over a TE prospect?
  3. I don't see them dumping anyone. This is an injury replacement. They'll dump a player at another position. Wonder if they go the IR+return route with Bell?

First pick in our Rookie/FA draft

Well, when the moment of truth came, I went with Giovani Bernard. Big back syndrome set in, and I just couldn't pull the trigger on a 240lb running back with a long injury history.

    Anyone else high on MJD

JK, I like the idea of drafting a top-shelf WR over MJD, but if the draft is already that deep into the RBs, can a person really afford to pass on what is likely one of the last couple viable weekly start RBs, even for a top-shelf WR? It seems like there are hundreds of viable starting WRs, but the list of useful starting RBs, at least for non-ppr, is down to a handful of players.

    Thoughts on Chris Ivory?

Can he stay healthy enough to even win the job? I was a big fan when he broke out, carrying him in my dynasty league for close to three years before jettisoning him for someone who might contribute weekly.

First pick in our Rookie/FA draft

Up until this week, I had Miller pegged with that pick, but as mentioned, he went from 'the chosen son' to 'they will both breakout' in a matter of two weeks. Bernard hasn't been a sleeper for months now, but I was seeing him as having that balance between first year production, and long-term dynasty value that the others may not possess. So no one prefers Bernard to Lacy at this point?
  9. I have the first pick in my dynasty league. Small rosters, 13-17 keepers, 10 teams. Need input on the pick. These are the top 5 players: 1. Giovani Bernard 2. Lamar Miller (2nd year) 3. Tavon Austin 4. Eddie Lacy 5. Le'Veon Bell (Lisfranc injury, 6-8 weeks) I am vulnerable at RB (CJ1k, Gore, JAGs), and really need a contributor this season from this pick. Who would you take, and why? Thanks.

    Anyone else high on MJD

late second seems a reasonable time to take a serious look at MJD. I don't like the injury, and don't like the timeline. Thats a lot of touches the past three full seasons. 28 is the start of the end for all but the most durable of backs. People forget that his senior year in college he was 5'7"/175lbs, then showed up at the combine at 202. He's listed as 210 now. Thats a lot of mass on a thin frame like Reggie Bush/CJ Spiller. On the other hand, who else is going to take away touches from him? Denard Robinson? I don't see anyone else who can take the tough carries (SY/GL) from him, so his value to the team means value to those who role the dice late in the 2nd. Would I take him over Gore? Probably.

    Spiller or Charles

Both are great young players, but for me, I would look at the supporting casts, and expected roles of each. Everyone wants to look at Charles and see Westbrook/McCoy, and they very well might be right. But backing up Charles is Knile Davis, who is bigger (5'10"/222lbs), and from what I've read, every bit as fast (4.3 40 at the combine). I'm not disputing that Charles is a dynamic, game changing back. I have concern that Reid will utilize both Davis and the shifty but under-utilized Dexter McCluster more than as just 'spell' backs. I just can't see Charles getting 300 carries and 50 receptions in the current setup. With checkdown Alex running a control offense, I see the TE and slot receiver having excellent seasons. As for Spiller, he has game breaking speed, and showed himself quite well last year. He's got an old but very serviceable Fred Jackson behind him. Other than Jackson and Stevie J, there aren't any easily identifiable talents on offense in Buffalo. My concern with Spiller is the loft projections of him as a 3-down back with 250+ carries and 40-60 receptions. Personal observation tells me that there may well be more receptions, but I don't see them overusing him ala Clinton Portis in Washington to where a speed back gets worn down and loses that 'it' factor he brings to the team. Look for Fred Jackson to have a significant role as a rusher in Buffalo. Between the two, I like Spiller a little more primarily due to injury history (and Charles' mid-foot sprain), and low career carries.

Sounds like the only one who's foolin' is himself. I don't buy this tripe.

    Where were you when Eli...

yikes. I dun feel dummer for having dun read some of this thread. Can't someone make it stop?
  14. thats debatable. Doesn't he have seven or eight domestic violence incidents in his history? Every time, its been with his girlfriend or fiance. None were willing to testify, and all the cases except maybe the most recent one were dropped. Goodell has a slippery slope to navigate on this one. With no case, no conviction/plea/etc, they have a pattern of people calling the police on him, thats about it. One can only assume that the cab driver in the false imprisonment case made some serious bank for forgetting what really happened.

    Sell me on Brian Westbrook

Why? Why would you, knowing that you MUST handcuff one of your starting RBs, wait until his ADP range and pray that you can draft that handcuff? Thats a fairly shortsighted play, IMO. If you know that you must have a handcuff, like McCoy, you draft him ahead of his ADP to reduce the risk that he's drafted in front of you. Wait til his ADP and watch the guy in front of you draft YOUR man...
