    Eli Manning

You're probably correct. However, Tyree may show the rest of the receivers the way to "use their heads" when making catches and increase Manning's productivity. Seriously, though, while I think E. Manning's confidence has to receive a boost from his playoff wins, I just don't see him becoming an elite FF quarterback any time soon--I think the Giants would much rather rely on their defense to lead them while having Manning stay away from mistakes, as opposed to him taking over a game.

My favorite photo from last night's game...

Thanks for the laugh, wiffleball--I almost spewed my coffee.
  3. Shame on you, donhaas, for interjecting relevant and accurate facts into this thread--is that permitted in any topic involving the Pats??. (I only wish Chase Blackburn had some ballerina genes in his history so he could have leaped off the field before the snap on that 12 men on the field penalty, although oddly enough the Giants ultimately got better field position--following the Pats getting that penalty first down--due to BB deciding to go for it on 4th down). I couldn't agree more with your comment about controlling the line of scrimmage...the Giants did a great job of pressuring Brady (I think he was sacked 5 times and driven to the ground 19 times overall), held Maroney in check, and the offensive line did just enough to get Jacobs that 1st down on 4th and one.

    **Official Pimpdaddy Fundraiser thread**

The only thing I'd give Pimptaddy is directions to a medical center specializing in euthanasia. (Uhm, is Dr. Kevorkian still alive and able to help us out here??) HOW 'BOUT DEM COWBOYS?!?!?!?!? Oh wait, they already died when they played the Giants. My bad.

    Poor sports part 597

All I can say is, you know you have it made in life when you can turn down a free, first class trip to Hawaii. I do that almost every year in my job. Seriously, though, I'd say get rid of the Pro Bowl game--no one really cares about it, and why expose top echelon players to the risk of injury? (Especially true for those of us in a keeper league).

    Nice inspirational story

I read this story in the newspaper and was incredibly impressed by his courage, perseverence, and positive attitude in light of his terrible injuries. I think it'd be great if he could be an "honorary captain" and be on the field for the opening coin toss (not so much to inspire the Giants, but rather so that he could be honored for his service and sacrifice for his country).

    Thoughts on Ahmad Bradshaw

I'd be wary of drafting Jacobs next year, even though he's obviously expected to be the starter. He missed all or portions of 6 games this year due to injuries, and Ward and Bradshaw have shown they deserve playing time even when Jacobs is healthy (the dreaded RBBC scenario is very possible). Also, if you draft Jacobs, I think it's very difficult to predict if you should take Ward or Bradshaw as his back-up. (I'd probably go with Bradshaw, as Ward has had problems staying healthy throughout his career, but who knows?) I don't see Jacobs as a 2nd round pick--I wouldn't select him unless he drops far enough in the draft that you can take a shot on him as a number 3 RB, especially in a PPR league (he had only 18 receptions for 130 yards). I had heard going into the season that the Giants wanted to get Jacobs the ball on swing passes and screens, but that obviously didn't happen, and ultimately he was a big reason why the Giants led the league in dropped passes this year. Even in a TD only league, I'd be leery of him--despite his size and strength, he had only 5 TDs this year. Jacobs has great potential for monster games, but his stats over the course of the year make him a risky pick.

    Giants Homers

Just go to Madison Square Garden and walk around the block--you'll find numerous bars/restaurants filled with Giants fans, not to mention fans of the Jets with their noses pressed up against the window glass begging for the opportunity to pay $8 for a beer.

To all the Giants fans: CONGRATULATIONS!

Sorry to bother you, but I just need your home address so I know where to FedEx the noose.

To all the Giants fans: CONGRATULATIONS!

Kudos to you, BigD, for your post. As I've said before, some Cowboy fans disappear when times are tough (as evidenced by all the empty seats in their stadium during lean years), but obviously you're not one of them. If not for all those penalties, I think Giants fans would be saying "Oh well, at least we beat Tampa Bay". On a side note, I watched the game in a sports bar and there was a lone Cowboy fan who kept applauding the good plays of the Cowboys--after Dallas scored its second touchdown and he did a , I thought to myself "If he did that in Philly if the Cowboys were playing the Eagles, he'd be lynched." (We settled for throwing beer bottles at him).

Romo is NFC East's new biggest choker

If Crayton hadn't dropped that catch on 3rd and 13, Cowboy fans might have been rejoicing about Romo's ability to elude a pass rush and deliver an on-target pass. He's a very good QB, and Dallas is lucky to have him, in my opinion.

**** Official NY Giants Celebration Thread

Crayton had 2 drops that I saw, but that one on 3rd down where he could've run for about a mile was key...seems like karma to me, after his theatrics in the last game where he stopped just short of the goal line and then placed the ball in the end zone. My guess is, the opening line is GB by 6.

Eli passing Peyton in the playoffs....what's next?

This news item just in...Peyton Manning's Colts don't advance, and Britany Spears named Mother of the year...which is more unlikely?

I just thank God that my beloved Jints actually get to play another week...oh yeah, and that Crayton had cymbals for hands on that third down...

    'effin kickers

I don't agree that I had a "lack of foresight". I thought Favre might have a tough game and that GB might run the ball a lot, resulting in decent field goal opportunities instead of TD passes from Favre. Turns out I was wrong about the field goal tries, but it wasn't because I didn't try to anticipate what might happen. All I wanted out of Crosby was a field goal or two and a couple of extra points--I just don't see any way to predict with any accuracy, week by week, how a given kicker will perform. Last week, Crosby was Raquel Welch in her prime; this week, Rosie O'Donnell. My point overall, though, is that I think having kickers on a FF roster unduly injects pure luck into the results of games. I think the same holds true for any league that has defense/special teams roster positions--Minnesota's defense/special teams have had a couple of great games against the Giants recently, and there's no way anyone could've predicted those results. Over the course of a season, kickers generally "even out" as far as their points, but they are much more likely to have greater variance week to week than position players. Jeff Reed of Pittsburgh is a good example--the first 3 weeks he puts up 10, 14, and 13, then the next 3 games he gets 2, 3, and 4. With position players, you start your best ones--sure, sometimes they come up short, but at least you have a good idea who to start. With kickers, it's a crap shoot trying to decide who's best.
