WDOK stops playing ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside’ amid ‘Me Too’ movement

Craigslist was never suppose to be for dating/hooking up, that was just a sub feature of the website that creeps gravitated towards. Tinder is completely different. Aren't to many predators/weirdos on there from my experience. You will see the occasional overly feminist liberal woman on their, those profiles are hilarious. I was thinking about matching one of them, meeting up with her and right after I blow my load all over her chest telling her I voted Trump.

I think you are peaking peenie's interest now.

I think in big cities it is extremely rare almost non-existence but in suburban areas and smaller rural areas I don't think it is uncommon for a pretty 25 y/o to only have 4 or 5 partners. Some women are extremely picky and/or only date guys that are their boyfriends.

And no one is on a hunt, I'm perfectly fine smashing out random Tinder sluts, I am just saying I wouldn't put an expensive ring on a girl who has slept with more than 15 guys, but that's just me.

15 I’ll accept. You are prob wise to set higher standards for potential theoretical marriage anyway.

I meant 5. Let's just meet in the middle and call it 10?

Sounds right. The only guy I know of that actually used Craigslist to meet women was real loser. Has a crappy job that doesn't pay, lies about trips he's gone on, married a fatty with a kid, best he could do. Real jerkoff.

'Baby, It's Cold Outside' returns to Denver airwaves after feedback from KOSI 101.1 listeners

https://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/local-news/-baby-it-s-cold-outside-returns-to-denver-airwaves-after-feedback-from-kosi-1011-listeners

A classic holiday song some say promotes a corrupt message of consent is back on the radio.

KOSI 101.1 announced Tuesday that the 1944 jingle “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” will return to the station’s 24/7 holiday music lineup after they joined other radio stations across the country and pulled the song after listener complaints.

Some listeners objected to the lyrics, suggesting the song pushes the line of consent and is inappropriate in the age of the #MeToo movement.

The Denver radio station made the decision to place the popular song, written Frank Loesser, back into its daily rotation after an online poll, which the station said listeners overwhelmingly were in favor of the holiday classic returning to the air.

“We value the opinion of all our listeners and appreciate the feedback we received,” said KOSI 101.1 Program Director, Jim Lawson in a media release. “Respondents voted 95 percent in favor of us keeping the song. While we are sensitive to those who may be upset by some of the lyrics, the majority of our listeners have expressed their interpretation of the song to be non-offensive.”

A Cleveland radio station was first to pull the song over the weekend. It also posted a poll to gauge listening feedback after receiving a complaint.

:overhead: Common sense rules for once. Sad to see though it had to come to this. Our country is in a battle to retain sanity.

You might seem disingenuous if you pretend that rap has not glorified violence, misogyny, homophobia, drugs.....as a rule and across the board. Your cite calls this out pointedly, you have a slice of the industry calling it out, but mostly hiding behind it as "art".

I do not have a big problem with these rappers making their art, frankly. I DO have a problem with the duality of going after selective pieces, ignoring others, but this is the essence of leftist mentality, it lacks fairness and logic, it attacks passionately but without any notion of justice or reason.

I have a far bigger issue with the leftist radicals going after their selective targets than I do with the rappers who are essentially exploiting their customers.

Bottom line, I have no right to tell you or anyone else what they can listen to, enjoy as art, speak, think..... none of it.....and you, and no other motherfockers out there, can tell me the same....

The leftists in this nation insist to compel my thought, speech, political positions....as long as they keep their distance, all will be well

Good post. People can list to whatever they want. Have no problem with anyone listening to whatever they want to listen to, but whenever someone tells me they are an avid listener of hip-hop or rap I immediately assume they are a dumbass. Intelligent people don't listen to that trash.

Im not a big rap / hip hop listener, but its pretty diverse as a genre and a lot of it doesnt glorify violence, crime or misogyny at all. Calling all rap trash is like calling all metal or rock trash.

What kind of music you like is subjective of course, but the kind of person that is attracted to hip-hip or rap (mainly rap) is a complete and utter dumbass. I'm not talking about the underground deep poetic stuff either, I'm talking about mainstream stuff and anything like it, the mumble rap, 6ix9ine - songs people commonly refer to as a "banger" yeah those guys are dumbasses. Nothing cracks me up more than seeing a white boy blasting rap out of his 97 Civic.

How about a sample of rap music lyrics:

https://www.complex.com/music/2013/03/the-50-grossest-rap-lyrics/chevy-p-eat-em-up-beat-em-up

My take? These are lyrical versions of the Robert Mapplethorpe photographs in a showing that caused a Boston Museum curator to quit his job because the board said he had to allow it. It is not art.

Just saying not all rap is about crime, biiches and hos.

Regarding rappers and their defenders calling it art, I have to agree. A rapper might sing about banging a corpse, but that doesn't automatically mean he personally wants to do so.

Hannibal Lecter books and movies were pretty popular, but we don't automatically assume the author wants to eat somebody.

I don't care for any of the above, so I don't buy it, listen to it or watch it. To each their own.

But getting back to the original point of this thread, It makes no sense to single out "Baby It's Cold Outside" as evil when there are so many more wicked lyrics out there.

No, it is wrong to dictate to others what they can listen to. if the radio station chooses not to play the song, and it bothers you enough, go find another station that does not limit what you can listen to.

If you do not like the song, and a station is playing it, listen to something else.

That seems like the simple answer, of course what is really at play here is that Maoist/Socialist behavior, the actions themselves are deeply disturbing and should not be accepted on their face. There SHOULD be a voice that calls out the action itself for what it is....

I absolutely don't agree with censorship, but there are many teens that are influenced/impacted by music. And sometimes in bad ways. I'm simply more against the people writing and performing some of this garbage.

As for defining what is art vs. what is base entertainment, that's completely different topic.

Shock sells. Always has. Artists and entertainers know it. It just takes a whole lot more to shock people than it used to.

You may be right, but I never really thought that music or books get dated like movies and television do.

If I turn on the movie Taxi Driver, that seems old to me, but if I tune in to any music that goes as far back as the 60's, I still hear it like it's as fresh as recent music. Rap is a different story I guess.

Rap never influenced me to do drugs, buy or sell drugs. Rap doesn't influence me to buy or use a gun, wear diamond jewelry or drop it like it's hot.

I listen to it like any other type of music.

However, I believe it makes the unsophisticated to make sweeping generalizations about black culture and intelligence. It also may encourage criminal and misogynistic behavior.

Baby Its cold outside never influenced me either, but THAT is the problem song? Of course not, and I doubt that rap music does anything to really contribute to peoples actions, but that is not the issue here, its the imbalance at play.

You better believe rap music influences people's actions. Way more than any other type of music or entertainment. When F the Police came out, that's all you heard. It didn't help matters.
