TRUMP rescinds DACA

Recommended Posts

MAGA!

http://www.bostonherald.com/news/us_politics/2017/09/the_latest_trump_to_phase_out_program_for_young_immigrants

President Donald Trump will phase out a program that has protected hundreds of thousands of young immigrants brought into the country illegally as children. He will call for Congress to find a legislative solution to protect the immigrants, who are often called "Dreamers."
That's according to two people who were briefed on the plan set to be announced later Tuesday. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the plans publicly before the announcement.
Trump suggested in an earlier tweet Tuesday that it would be up to Congress to ultimately decide the fate of those covered by President Barack Obama's Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA program.
DACA has provided nearly 800,000 young immigrants a reprieve from deportation and the ability to work legally in the U.S.

Good. Should never have happened in the first place. 6 month delay is B.S. though.

I'm glad it's rescinded in the fact that Congress makes law. Now, Congress needs to fix it and make it law. I personally hope they make it a law so the kids can stay. They did nothing wrong, and in some/most instances, this is the only country they know.

It's not fair to punish kids because of their parents. No way can you send a kid, who's lived their entire life here, to some 3rd world shitt hole. That's inhumane and un-American. These kids are every bit American as you and I. You wanna punish the parents, have at it. Just a brutal thing to do.

Some of those "kids" came here to hook up with their families. And when I say family I mean gangs like ms-13.

So who's fault is their plight, the U.S. or their parents who chose to bring them here knowing they could be deported at any time? Seems to me these kids should be blaming their parents.

If they are here working, couldn't that job go to one of our felllow Americans?

Perhaps you've heard the argument that they only do work that Americans are unwilling to do?

It would be nice if we had some bricklayers and roofers in the Geek Club to comment on this.

Not sure I buy that argument. The brick got laid and the grass got cut before they got here

It's the fault of our governments lack of a real immigration policy. It's our governments fault for not enforcing our immigration laws. It's the parents fault for violating the laws. A kid who's been here for a decade or so, brought here when they were 1,2,3,4, or whatever young age, knows no other country. They are American in every way, except legal. Time to fix that.

They snuck in and we fed, clothed, protected and educated them, but that simply isn't enough for some people. :dunno:

So let's make a deal with them. If their parents self deport the kids can stay. That way we hold the parents accountable for breaking our laws. If they don't self deport the whole family gets deported. Fair?

Sure. What do you do with a kids under 18 if the parents self deport? Going to stick them in foster homes? I'm sure that costs more then letting the parents stay. Assuming the parents had jobs. Tell them tough luck? Adoption?

Each kid probably costs the US taxpayer 25k. Who pays for that?

If these folks really are deported (I doubt it) real estate in some areas will suffer

Got a link for that? I'd be interested in it. I know most of these DAKA individuals work, or are in school. The working individuals contribute to social security and other programs that they'll never be eligible for.

I contribute to social security and other programs and federal and state taxes. I'll trade my tax burden for theirs.

Off the top it costs roughly 17K per year per kid to go to public school in my county. It is said roughly 26K kids in my county are not legal. That is equal to 15 schools fully outfitted. Every kid under 22 must go to HS if they haven't graduated. This is before feeding them (2 meals per day) and giving them special education. Of course this doesn't include any health care.

According to fox news, 91% of DACA recipients work, and it would cost the economy billions. DACA is a good program/answer, to a bad immigration policy. DACA recipients are the kind of immigrants we want. They work or are in school. They stay after graduation. They contribute to the economy. They register and pay every 2 years to stay on the program, and out of the shadows. These people were kids when brought here to no fault of their own. Now they contribute, work, get educated, and pay a fee every 2 years, stay out of trouble for fear if having their status revoked. Seems they're helping more then hurting.

Not a bricklayer or roofer, but I'm in the flooring biz.

My opinions on illegals under cutting the pricing of legitimate licensed and insured tradesmen are well documented on this forum.

They need to go.

There's only 800,000 people on DACA. If the #s show almost all of them work and or go to school. Pay taxes. Pay 500$ every 2 years to remain in DACA. Stay out of trouble. They themselves didn't break the laws, then what's the issue with them?

What if 50k of them live in your area? It's not like the 800k are spread out through the country. Some states probably don't have any. Why should only a few communities have to bear the brunt of all this?

They aren't legally allowed to be here? Should we let anyone who can successfully get past our minimal obstacles to being physically in our country stay here permanently? I suggest you try doing that to Mexico and see what happens.

BTW, over 40,000 of these DACA recipients have used a backdoor process to get a green card and/or citizenship since this unconstitutional and illegal end around congress that Obummer enacted. I have a problem with that. If these DACA people were so honorable they wouldn't use the process to take advantage of loopholes in our laws. DACA was never intended to grant green cards or citizenship to those eligible for it. Obama specifically said so when he enacted it.

You mean people who work or going to school? People who are Americans in every sense of the word. People who are contributing to local taxes. People contributing to state taxes. People not breaking the laws. These aren't the criminals or the illegals in the shadows. I'd be happy to have contributing individuals in our society.

how does going to school = contributing to society.

They create overfilled classrooms, cost money and degrade the education law abiding real American children receive.

How is this at all beneficial to America ?

One of America's core tenets is that we are a country of laws. We constantly fight against lawlessness throughout the world. Without laws we are nothing. I don't see how people who refuse to honor those laws are "Americans in every sense of the word."

It's beneficial to employers who pay lower wages, landlords who rent to them, and democrats who keep Americans out of work and poor.

Then fix the loopholes. No different then the wealthy (like Trump) using loopholes to pay as little taxes as possible. Republicans are in control. They can fix, change, do just about anything they want. If they remove DACA, so be it. I think it would be a horrible thing is all.

it's destroyed the education system, thankfully I was able to help and convince my daughter to move out of mass, where they are loaded with them, up to new Hampshire where the teachers can actually give individual attention to the kids/working families who actually deserve it. Its a disgrace, all in the name of votes.
