    Your favorite sport to watch?

Watch : Football Play : Golf Play when I was growing up : Basketball (and golf) NBA has become almost unwatchable. I like and follow MLB but even with the pitch clock, it is hard for me to watch any single game knowing there are 162 and unfortunately the pitch clock has ruined going to games, imo. When I go to an MLB game, I pick a nice day and I enjoy the slow pace of the game and drinking some beers in a fun atmosphere. When I went last season, the game was over so quick I barely had 3 beers and some nachos.

i had tested out the 2023's but had heard there really was no difference so I set out hunting for a good price on new 2021s. Found a pro shop with an ebay store in cape cod. Brand new set listed for 950, I offered 750 and was surprised they accepted. Guy was cool though, I ended up calling and we did the deal outside ebay to save on me paying tax and on their store having ebay take a cut. immediately added a lot of yards on trackman compared to my callaway xforged. Like the 7 iron going 165. Don't seem to be hitting as many pulls as I was before but that could also just be due to offseason reset. Played my first real round with them yesterday and only good things to say. My chipping and putting were trash but I hit the irons wonderfully. Only minor nitpick is they can feel a little 'clicky' for a forged head but they still fly.

correct. so people were saying just 3 putt every green and you win easily. Which is true if that were a simple task. It's not like you are hitting your first putt from a preferred location as the pros would be once landing their approach shots. You are going to have some monster putts with tons of break and crazy speeds. Easily going to putt some of those off the green entirely or not even make it half way to the hole because you;re afraid of the speed.

I am very confident with my driver and even though I have been hitting my new irons pretty well (p790 2021 version), That narrow chute off the tee box makes me think I could easily hook a 5 iron off the tee, which is my usual miss with irons. So i'd prefer to hit a driver 280-290 somewhere out there and not leave myself 250+ to the green. You're asking to hit a perfect layup 2nd shot and land a full wedge on for your 3rd.

heres a good one. If everyone else in the field played real golf and all you had to do was putt, but you started every green as far away from the hole as possible. Could you win the Masters? I say no but the comments section of the instagram post I saw was full of people claiming it would be easy

Even if I am able to practice a bit and loosen up (not just get dropped onto the 18th tee box or something), theres a very high probability I go to jail but, like Jerry, I would hit driver with a goal of getting on in 3 and 3 putting. I'd have 175-185 in for my second shot assuming I hit a decent drive 6 iron from there.. maybe a 5. Gotta try and get over that front left trap.

    Too many playoff teams

NFL is okay with 14. better with 12 but NFL greed is too strong. Those extra 2 games are big for them. MLB needed to expand. 8 teams was too few for such a loooong ass season. I think 10 would have been okay if the two wildcard teams played a best of 5 as opposed to ... wasn't it just a single elim game they played before? Not going to complain about 12 though.... again 162 games is a loooong season. NBA is a joke. It's all super teams, the teams are run by the stars, coaching barely matters and they started the play in tournament to help curb more instances of "the process" and to make sure LeFlop was in the playoffs. NHL - no one cares

I don’t know if I buy it being about comfort. The initial wave of guys who may have thought there would be no ban from pga events, thought there would be owgr points, etc… I could maybe buy them regretting their decision. Rahm joined so recently that no new information has emerged. maybe I don’t read enough of their quotes for it to come off as crying to me. With the team Rahm has around him, how smart of a guy he always seemed to be and how much he claimed to care about history and the god Seve Ballesteros, I really doubt his ultimate decision to take the money wasn’t well thought out. What he said about the money previously was when Monahan and puppet Rory were still feeding the company line… we saw how that worked out. Rory regrets it and has even backtracked on multiple LIV issues. Perhaps Rahm, in light of the handshake deal between the PGA and PIF decided to take the money and assume we’d eventually have one entity anyway. Perhaps knowing he was a top 2-3 player in the world and their biggest draw, he’d have a lot of influence.

Because this is the way its always been done?.... What about the evolution of sport? What about prior to 1986 when OWGR didn't exist? What if golf starts trending in the direction of contracted players where "merit" only matters in terms of being released or not getting a new deal? That last part is pure speculation but it seemed to be what a lot of golfers wanted. Some sort of guarantee without grinding to make a cut for a payday. Don't get me wrong, i'd prefer 72 hole events and a merit based system myself but I have always sympathized with some of the argument that athletes in other sports get paid if injured, sitting out a game, etc. PGA stars make plenty, even just on endorsements alone... but so do the stars in other sports. As far as right now, I think they probably just need 1 of the 2 things you mentioned. And I believe they are trying to implement a relegation system to sort of be their "merit" which gets an eyeroll from me but the idea behind LIV was not to just make another tour following the same mold as everything else. As to the last bolded sentence, I have read a few places that the OWGR mission statement on their website changed in 2022, conveniently. Prior to 2022 it read as follows "The Governing Board and its Technical Committee have continuously monitored and refined the system over the years taking into account the ever changing structure of world golf and suggestions made from players and Tours alike." it now reads "The mission of the OWGR is to administer and publish, on a weekly basis, a transparent, credible, and accurate Ranking based on the relative performances of players participating in male Eligible Golf Tours worldwide." I find that interesting.

Im sure that was part of Norman's pitch, especially to the bigger names who have jumped ship more recently. It was a risk they had to be willing to take but I do think common sense says that if enough top talent in the world of golf ends up there, OWGR would consider or reconsider. Guys playing DP events are still mostly doing so by invitation, although as I understand it, players who were not members of the DP Tour are nut under any of their sanctions. Going to 4 rounds would be the simplest way to just get past that hurdle
