Awesome Obscure 80s Movies

Recommended Posts

First two that i thought of...then looked them up...were early 90s.

But posting them anyway.

Showdown. A Karate Kid knockoff where the schol janitor Billy Blanks (yeah, the taebo guy) teaches a bullied kid marshal arts by having him clean and plunge toilets. Giving hope to drobeski.

Across the Tracks. Brad Pitt and Ricky Schroeder are high school er s in different schools and find outvthey are brothers as a rivalry builds for a track meet.

Both terrible and awesomely funny.

A couple of my favorite 80's movies weren't made in the 80's either, Ginger Snaps and Dog Soldiers.

My favorite awful 80s slasher movie, Truth or Dare: a Critical Madness. It's like Flahawker decided to remake Halloween:

And Gymkata, my favorite awful 80s martial arts movie. It's like ... Flahawker decided to make Enter the Dragon:

"Fandango" is a gem. Perfect answer for a thread like this.

Top five favorite all time movie. There's a website devoted to this movie. Every few years they retrace the places they went in the movie. Ultimate Fandango. I almost went a few years ago but couldn't get anybody who wanted to drive across Texas with me.

Good call.

The town with the pommel horse in the middle it, maybe the most unintentionally funny scene in movie history.

The Rivers Edge- Hopper at his creepiest finest

Drugstore Cowboy- I'm a freak when it comes to superstitions. Never leave a hat on the bed in my house.

Was that the one with Val Kilmer playing an MIT student?

No, that might be Real Genius you are talking about. Either way, Real Genius was great. William Atherton plays a great asssshole in movies and TV. He was in that with Val Kilmer.
