James Comey kept memos from phone calls with Trump

Recommended Posts

Page 6, 40+ replies and still nothing.

Nothing?

You expect the general public to have evidence at this point?

The complete ignorance of how investigations go is astounding.

Again...easy question...do you think a special prosecutor gets appointed based on rumors?

Your 40 plus posts are all based in ignorance of any real facts, because there are none as yet. :dunno:

My posts have been reporting the facts as they are known at each point.

Ignorance would be the complete denial of what's been going on.

Try again sports.

Again...simple question goes unanswered by the Trumpfools.

Always telling

Again, a special prosecutor has not been appointed. And you're the one telling people they don't know how an investigation works?

That's his tactics. Repeat it often enough and it's considered fact.

Special Investigator should be what he said, right?

Counsel. An advisor. Prosecutor is a whole different ball game.

Special Counsel and special prosecutor are often used interchangeably...there is almost zero difference between the focking two.

Nor does the question that you all keep avoiding change.

Bunch of focking semantics playing idiots...it's a simple question.

Would a special prosecutor or special counsel be appointed based on rumors?

Yeah, except a special prosecutor can't be fired by the AG. Amongst other things.

A special prosecutor would not be commissioned based on rumors. Special counsel, on the other hand, doesn't have the same threshold of proof required. It's not considered on par with a special prosecutor, it has far less leeway, and can only make recommendations. A special prosecutor can bring about charges independent of the DOJ.

It is my understanding that the special counsel has essentially the same rights as a federal prosecutor.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2017/05/19/fact-check-special-counsel-robert-mueller/101880076/

What authority does a special counsel have?

A special counsel has the same authority as any federal prosecutor, William Banks, a professor and the founding director of the Institute for National Security and Counterterrorism at Syracuse University, told us in a phone interview. That includes access to classified documents. It also includes the authority — if deemed appropriate — to subpoena, say, the president’s tax records.

What happens when the special counsel’s investigation is complete?

Rosenstein’s order notes that if Mueller deems it “necessary and appropriate,” he is “authorized to prosecute federal crimes arising from the investigation of these matters.” The federal code states that at the conclusion of a special counsel’s investigation, he must provide the acting attorney general with a confidential report explaining decisions about whether or not prosecutions are warranted. The acting attorney general could decide to make that report public. According to the code, the “Attorney General may determine that public release of these reports would be in the public interest, to the extent that release would comply with applicable legal restrictions.”

So there is a difference.

Please rephrase your question properly so that we might answer it.

Current White House official targeted in this probe.

Trump told the Russians that Comey was axed to ease pressure off him and that Comey was a nut job.

Just your normal day in American "politics."

Facts are irrelevant to these people.

Do you know what the words "almost" & "essentially" mean?

You can't use those words and then say two things are equal.

Still playing semantics.

Fact is neither would be appointed based on rumors.

So spin of you want for 2 more pages...bunch of focking hacks.

Yes...as long as all investigations and conclusions are above board...that's the point of this.

I don't think they will find nothing. It may not be enough found to take Trump down...but high ups in his admin/campaign will for sure to down.

Another leak to NYT. Can we get Susan Rice back to unmask NSA intercepts on the NYT?

Worried more about the leaks than about what the leaks are saying.

Oh, Jaysus, now we learn that Trump told the Russians that firing that "real nut job" Comey would take the pressure off of that whole pesky Russia investigation.

Yeah, that's pretty much a slam dunk on obstruction. I don't know how one could even think to walk out of that.

Not to mention an entirely unprofessional and classless diick move by a POTUS in front of a foreign poweer.

No surprise since your girl Hillary was responsible for a ton of classified docs leaked.

Death by a thousand cuts.

It's a coup. He's taken shots at too many entrenched people.

Whoever is leaking to the NYT must be high up there or maybe part of the NSA.

It's how they are going to stop him. They probably don't have, and won't get, a kill shot. He hasn't had time to do something worthy of that yet. But they will stop him from effectively governing by pounding every day, making him a lame duck from the beginning. Unless something happens like N Korea

Yeah, he contributes plenty. But they also pile on and have zero standards in what they report. PP and Hookers being a good example, along with other things like reporting the deputy AG general threatened to resign, Comey asked for more money, on and on. Both sides suck, but there are more of them.

well today it's been revealed that he admitted to the Russians that he fired Comey to take the pressure off of himself. This guy is a newsroom goldmine. He can't get out of his own way
