I suppose youre probably right. Americans are fat and Im comparing myself to other Americans.

Bingo. All the hyperbole about how deathly thin people believe they’d be at IBW is based on fvcked up societal standards.

Same. I had been down to 160 but that was in my last job where I never traveled and could eat healthy all of the time. I'd like to get down to 170.

On a related note, I just did a comprehensive metabolic test. At rest I burn 2300 Calories/day (vs. a predicted 1700) and it is 100% fat, which explains my general slimness (although BMI puts me near obese). As I increase my heart rate I start to increase carb burning to a crossover point at around 115 bpm. Fat burning then drops pretty precipitously and by 135 bpm I burn all carbs, which (1) I don't really intake, and (2) creates lactic acid build-up which causes my body to give up in a short period. Contrast this to my wife who hits that point at around 155 bpm; she can do burpees for an hour and still feel fine. Supposedly if I spend the next 3 months mostly building up my "zone 2" aerobic base (101-116 bpm) I can push that crossover point out and generate higher endurance. I will tell you that that heart range does not feel like exercise so this is going to be tough, but the engineer in me is interested in the experiment.

What exactly constitutes a comprehensive metabolic test?

This is what I did. My absolute VO2 Max is 2.57 L/min (good for my age), and my relative rate is 31.80 mL/kg/min (average for my age). The goal is to increase these. More data is provided; I'm not really impressed with the description on the website.

Look at Meeeeeee!!!!!!

I could go a few ways here:

1. I thought the topic was relevant, but more importantly copped to getting "good" and "average." There were other metrics which I scored well in, and the guy basically said "I could nit about a few of your numbers but you are in really good shape."

or

2. Fatty says wha? :dunno:

5'5.5" 102 lbs. 16.7 BMI

I actually started drinking Ensure recently. I don't like the amount of sugar in it but when I was having two a day and eating like normal otherwise, I saw a little gain. That's never happened before. Down to 1 a day so far this week, none today, as I'm getting a cold.

I met a girl online, way back, like 1999.

Was before a lot of people had pictures, or were too lazy or fat to get them

Anyway, this girl kept saying she was petite. Swore up and down.

Aparently, 4'8 150 is petite on some other planet

So what if I waited till I got head before I rolled her out the door.

D!ck's lake

Not a point of bragging though, a little more weight = healthier.

You didn't need to go to a lake to get some d1ck.

Plenty of it here

I almost always have a 6 pack of Ensure on hand....I go through phases of drinking it regularly, and at other times I'll just have one if I miss my normal snack.

I eat when I'm hungry and have tried to cut out 90% of my former sugar intake. Other than that I eat what I want. I was 160 in HS. Ballooned up to 195 a few years after HS. Settled in at 185. And have dropped to 170-175 by just eating less and moderately more healthy.

Yeah I was settled in to 178. I thought I had just a little excess fat. Then I saw s pic that showed it at the right angle. I was like wtf!

I have excess fat. I don't really care about fat, I've never been a gym rat.

I changed up how much junk I ate just to feel better. When I got up to close to 200 I looked bloated and unhealthy. Without a belly full of food at all times and a drop of unneeded weight, I feel better and naturally have more energy since my body isn't processing junk food all day long.

I didnt weigh myself for years and I was pretty shocked to see I had gained 20 pounds. Ive been a routine gym goer over that time but fell into bad eating habits. I lost all 20 in 6 months just by cutting down to 2,000 calories per day. I think most weight gain is just a slow creep when youre not paying attention.

I get people count calories and they say it works. It does I am sure. Maybe I just am not a regiment type person. I am not going to bother trying to count every single carb or calorie. I don't look at labels because it is logical as to what is decent for you and what is not.

If people want to lose weight it isn't that hard to eyeball it and just make healthier choices. Instead of grabbing that bag of chips at 3pm, bring a bag of cashews. Instead of guzzling down that iced tea filled with sugar, fill up your water bottle. Instead of going for a big pile of mashed potatoes next to your steak, opt for extra vegetables.

I find counting calories to be pretty easy. I am not writing anything down just estimating based on labels and online be nutrition charts. I can tell you the amount Ive had today within 100 or so pretty easily.
