Is chase edmonds worth rostering as a david johnson owner? Homers? Owners?

Recommended Posts

Is edmonds worth rostering as a DJ owner or if DJ goes down is it rbbc? I know he wont produce DJ numbers but havent seen enough/or know much about him. Any homers or DJ/edmonds owners have thoughts??

If you have the roster space too hold unto a dead weight unless D J gets hurt then yes.

I don’t have roster space too give one away.

I have Johnson as well, and I will most likely pick up Edmonds as a handcuff. Should be able to get him for nothing.

I live in AZ, and from what I've heard, I believe he'll be involved in the offense more than a standard elite running backs back up normally is. With Johnson being the second best receiver on this team, and lack of play makers outside of Johnson, I wouldn't be surprised to see both on the field at the same time. A DJ owner may want to reach a little for Edmonds, but he's worth a late round flier for any team in my opinion.

True. I like this take. i'm glad to be in an auction, I can just get him if I want. Noone will pay up much for a backup. Most of the guys probably don't know who he is. This post might be the last time most of us will hear about him before the season.

Rumor had it the Cardinals' brass compared him to Brian Westbrook during the draft process. They love him and have already stated multiple times they do not need to change the offense for him when DJ is out of the lineup.

I don't think it's a situation where you can just fill in the starting RB and expect great numbers.

DJ is a great fantasy RB. If he is out, there will be considerable drop off.

It probably will be a RBBC that replaces him.

You never know man. Think about it. Johnson himself was a 3rd round pick and didn't start until Chris Johnson went down. Noone thought he would turn out to be what he became. Except me. :) Got him on a 4 year contract for 1% of cap. Woohoo! Noone even realized who he was. I wonder what his ADP was across all of the fantasy world in 2015?

There would be a drop off, but there's no indication that it would be rbbc. Everything so far points to Edmonds having the second gig to himself.

Interesting comment from pre-season last year by the Guru....esp the Westbrook comments.

Was able to snag Chase in 4 of 5 leagues after DJ first got banged up. Had an offer today of from the DJ owner in one league of Jordan Howard. Turned it down, mostly because I am intrigued with Edmund's upside (although hate his schedule, quite frankly).

Not sure exactly what to make of the signing of 2 veteran RB's today by Zona, particularly how it relates to DJ's health....if at all.

Here is a very interesting piece written about Edmunds, with film breakdown from last weeks game against NYG's.

Wow, that might have been a mistake.  You might get away with it if it's a PPR league and DJ is indeed out for a while...  but if it's a standard scoring league, or if DJ only misses a week or two, I think Howard would have been the much more secure option.  Tough to turn down a top 20 RB for a handcuff.

Howard ranks 24 in non ppr with a avg of 10 points per game.

And looks he his 30th in ppr with his 11 points per game avg.

i think he’s worthy of the drop for Edmonds.

There is something amiss in AZ, I'm telling you. Things don't make sense to me. They are being way too sneaky and coy about DJ and it's obvious they like Chase. If you think Chase is merely a handcuff you would be very mistaken. Even if DJ is fine and he starts this week (week 8 ) it's my contention that from here moving forward, Chase will be playing a LOT more. Whether it is on the field with DJ and used as a pass catching option or as the number 2 in a 1, 2 punch, things are going to be different. They signed Morris AND another RB this week and they told the media it's primarily to take some burden off of Chases practice workload..........not buying it. Not buying it at all. If I had to speculate I would say maybe there is something very wrong with DJ.....maybe the back or the ankle are far worse than we have been lead to believe. I don't know. What I do know is Chase is going to be a hot commodity, regardless of what happens with DJ.

I know it is rumors but a poster on FBGs said he heard them about DJ going to IR.

Who knows if that is the case but bigger problems with DJ definitely fits with what has been going on in AZ. They don’t bring in two guys if DJ is going to play in the near future.

Sure they do. Remember, Foster is hurt as well. Hell, one of the guys they signed (Zenner) just completed a one-week stint with the Saints to help them cover for Kamara's injury.

sounds like a James white stat line. 12-13 points ppr. and Howard is ranked 30th with 11 ppr points a game.....hmmmm

You have an odd obsession with White.

Expect I think White as the higher upside.

I would keep White and let Howard go for the upside of Edmonds.

As I'm reading this thread- this comment is by far the one I agree with most.

This is no RBBC if DJ is banged up and Edmonds > Jordan Howard in terms of upside. Even in a worst-case scenario and Edmonds is in a timeshare with DJ, his situation is hardly different than Howard's and I like CE's chances better. For the guy who said he could grab him for nothing...yeah, I'd do that (I also doubt he will go for nothing).

As always...we shall see.

The David Johnson owner in my league is in 1st place and I play him this week, so I put in a decent bid and outbid him and 2 others in my league and got Chase Edmonds.  I would rather have added the Colts Defense but had to block my opponent.

Just like the old game show, the Hollywood squares.

Paul Lynn for the block.

The best part about it is, I'm starting D Cook, Saquon, and Chris Carson and he's put in Joe Mixon in place of David Johnson!

Paul Lynde...

Peter Marshall.  If you pat a dog's head, he will wag his tail.  What will a goose do?

Paul Lynde:  Make him bark.

It's just a darn shame that Chase's upcoming schedule is so brutal. Even if DJ doesn't play (which is highly unlikely, unless he goes on IR for some reason) is next 4 opponents (NO, SFx2, and TB) are all top 5 against the run.

All bets are off now that Chase i out for a few weeks with the hammy.....Unless you own DJ, I would stay away from the AZ backfield for now, at least until CE is back and even then, who knows. I know this is a far cry from what I was saying just a few days ago but hey, a LOT has changed in a few days!

I consider Chase droppable at this point.....and, yes, things can (and do) change quickly in this pursuit of ours.
