Playoff fantasy football

Recommended Posts

For those of you that participate in playoff fantasy leagues, I'm curious as to what kind of format do you prefer?

- Do you do a draft with a starting lineup each week?

- Total points league?

- play anyone you want, but can only play that player once?

What kind of playoff formats are you playing in?

Everyone drafts a starting roster which is yours for the duration of the playoffs. Total points then a percent of the pot goes to top qb, rb and wr. Once that players team loses no more points for you.

I like the 'draft only one player from each team' QB/QB RB/RB WR/WR TE/TE D/D K/K format, but am being asked to join one in which we draft in order - snake draft - and play them just as you would in the regular season.

QB/RB/WR/TE/K/D

12 team league, and you draft 14 players I guess - and if you cannot fill a roster it isn't an illegal lineup; you just don't get points from that position anymore. It's both H2H and cumulative points: 1st to cumulative points winner and 2nd to best H2H record, as long as the two teams are different. Interesting concept.

Here is one format I play in:

Entry is $20. Enter as often as you wish. Pay out is 1st (75%) and 2nd (25%) place. Payouts could change based on the number of entries. Approx 35 entries.

Picks will be due before the first playoff game on Saturday,

Select the following roster. You get fantasy points as long as your players are still in the playoffs.

2 QB

3 RB

4 WR

2 TE

2 DE

Scoring

1 point = 25 yards passing

1 point = 10 yards rushing/receiving (separate)

1 point = per reception

3 points = 100 yards rushing or receiving (not combined)

5 points = 350 yards passing

6 points = TD (passing/rushing/receiving)

Defense

2 points = sack

3 points = interception/fumble recovery

6 points = TD (fumble/interception return)

4 points = safety

10 points = shutout

7 points = 2-9 points allowed

5 points = 10-19 points allowed

3 points = 20-24 points allowed

QB

QB

RB

RB

WR

WR

WR

TE

(flex: RB or WR or TE)

Kicker

Draft any player from any team or conference. Once playoffs begin on Sat. your lineups lock for the duration of the NFL playoffs. The team with the highest number of points after the Superbowl is the winner.

PPR league, Scoring is pretty standard

Entry:$20

Fantasy roster: 1 qb, 2 rb, 2 wr, 1 te, 1 k, 1 def

Scoring:

1 pt for every 20 yds passing

1 pt for every 10 yds rushing/receiving

6 pts for all TDs (pass/rush/rec/def)

2 pts for all 2pt conversions

1 pt for extra points

3 pts for FGs 1-39 yds

4 pts for FGs 40-49 yds

5 pts for FGs 50+

1 pt for fumble recoveries

1 pt for interceptions

1 pt for sacks

2 pt for safeties

Points allowed

0 PA=20 pts

1 PA =19 pts

2 PA =8 pts

And so on up until 20 PA=0

Anything over 20PA is also 0

Format: Each week of the playoffs you will choose a roster to play for the week. Once you have used a player, that player is no longer available for you to use(If you use Aaron Rodgers in the 1st round you cant use him anymore, even if they make the Superbowl) So each week you will have an entirely different roster. If in the Superbowl you have already used both QBs prior to that round you are just SOL and would have to take a 0 at that position.

Whomever has scored the most points over the course of the playoffs is the winner.

This is what we do, with basically the same scoring rules. It makes for a little more strategy, especially at qb.

In our league you can retain 3 players from your regular season roster as keepers that no one else may play.

Then with the remaining players you fill out your normal 10 players roster.

Its only an eight team league so we find this works for us. There is some obvious duplication of players but its all for fun and an excuse to make the season last just a bit longer.

We save $40from the entry fees to award the ff playoffs champ.

The format on NFL.com is Bush-League.

I didn't know until my second time playing that you have an option to start players on a bye, so that you can accumulate multipliers the following week. Some would suggest this type of game requires strategy... but I disagree. Having said that, we do it every year for $20 and I will play again.

Any thoughts on your first round roster? Trying to figure out the whole who is going to lose, but put up big points scenario.

Contemplating this without doing any research statistically:

Cam, Fournette, Freeman or McCaffery, Michael Thomas, Tyreek, Kelce, Jax Defense, Saints Kicker

rotoworld has a nice write up today on position rankings for playoffs and odds to get the most games out of players you draft.

Yes, ours is a cumulative points system league too. impossible to get everyone together for a snake draft.

@MikeFFToday

Do you think you or your staff can put something together next year similar to what rotoworld has on there site today? Its very helpful

Beginning last year, I decided to swear off post-season FF.

Although, obviously, I love FF.....after months of frustration and elation each week, it is nice to just sit back and watch NFL playoff football with absolutely no concern about what "my guys" are doing/not doing on the field.

No draft. Everyone picks their own roster qb, rb, rb, wr, wr, te, flex (qb, rb, wr, or te), k, and def. You can not have more than one player from the same team except for the flex if you want. You roll with that roster through out the post season. Best over all points is the winner. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd finishers get paid. Tie breaker you guess the total combine points for all 4 games wild card week.

I play in a playoff league similar to the above post....

We have a snake draft. (Usually 6-8 people per league) Pretty standard point system.

Then we pick our players (Deep draft like 18+ rounds) Very typical of a normal reg. season league.

Sometimes lineups very. I prefer simple 1 QB, 2 RB, 2WR, 1TE, 1Kick, 1Def.

Once your players are eliminated from real football playoff's, then of course you can't use them anymore. But, you have a nice bench to plug others in.

Fun. It's probably the only kind of setup I'll play.

Payouts go to top 3 scoring teams/starting rosters, after the SB. Half the entry goes to the highest 1 week scorer.

I've realized, I suck at starting the right players. But, good at drafting, setting up my board, deep bench, etc.

So no interest whatsoever in a league like Draft Kings or best lineup type of thing where everybody can pick the same players. Not as much fun either.

I think one of us will actually do something a little better than what Rotoworld has on its site :ninja:

The one I'm in, I'm not a big fan of... but I just like hanging out with the group and drafting.

12-round draft with no roster requirements. If you want to draft 12 kickers, then you can draft 12 kickers... if the opportunity presents itself. In the past, kickers start going in the 4th round. This year I have 6 Jaguars and 6 Saints.

Non-ppr, TD distance bonuses, no decimal scoring.

Here's my roster...

Fournette, Leonard JAC RB
Ivory, Chris JAC RB
Line, Zach NOS RB
Yeldon, T.J. JAC RB
Ginn Jr., Ted NOS WR
Lee, Marqise JAC WR
Thomas, Michael NOS WR
Hill, Josh NOS TE
O'Shaughnessy, James JAC TE
Lambo, Josh JAC PK
Lutz, Wil NOS PK
Saints, New Orleans NOS Def
After round 1, I'm currently tied for 3rd with 77 points. Basically, as long as the Saints and Jags keep winning, my odds go up dramatically.
