Was 14 and had 3 legs since he was 4. Just couldn't keep it going anymore. Got a bad uninary infection and it was time.

Have a 5 year old boxer and GSP that is 2.

So sorry. My dogs are both ~11 so I'll be facing this in a few years. It's going to absolutely crush me when it happens.

Always sucks but it's part of owning a dog. Their lives are too short for how much they become part of the family.

Why did you have to put his dog down?

Sepsis or so believed. Putting him through the test to confirm was too much for his position. He had a fever of 105 too. It was time.

We had a samoyed when I was a kid. We ultimately had to put her down when she ended up with cancer. After that my Dad never wanted to get another pet EVER. This was over 30 years ago. I'm wondering if I'll be the same way. We've had a few cats over the years when the kids were little -- and putting them down were hard -- but not the same as a dog.

Sorry for your loss man. Having to put down a pet is always hard. You have them for so long and they are part of the family. Always tragic

Watch your boxer for heart problems. Pale gums and fatigue/fainting all symptomatic of cardiomyopathy.

I've lost 2 of the best dogs I've ever owned to the boxer genetic heart disease.

My Dalmation died Easter Sunday.Sixteen years old. Daughter was five at the time. Crushing to wifey and me. A few months later, Katrina hit. I found a black lab/German Shepard running around one of the worst hit areas in NO.

Brought him home. Greatest friend I ever had. Bogey. Had him for nine years. Had to put him down when he got rectal tumors. I still cry to this day when passing the Vets office. Blow a kiss, say thanks for the memories, and give him his respects.

From my prospective, it's the easiest way to morn.

 To your friend.

Generally speaking, labrador retrievers and black labs are very smart dogs. Yet surprisingly, chocolate labs are incredibly stupid.

I'm sure yours was the exception. :ninja:

:( Sorry to hear that, man. Our Rocky, min schn, ended up dying at home. He lived 15 years. My better half didn't want to spend the money to prolong things. We then got Lucy, min schn mix, about a year ago. She's awesome, though still miss my boy. He passed away 7 months before mom did.

Lost mine to a brain tumor, which they are also known for.

Great dogs but some breeds werent meant to be.

After magnificent bastard and then hard-core troubadour and God knows how many aliases before all of that, I'm pretty sure his next to Alias will indeed be rectal tumors.

My cousin just adopted a three year old chocolate lab. Such a good boy. So incredibly sweet. But when he wants to be he can be a fun spaz. Pretty amazing lines. Has to be pretty close to purebred if not the real deal. Such a sweetie face.
