NorthernVike 2,079 Posted April 19, 2018 Brady's been more than generous to the Patriots over the years. It's time to get his while he still can. Although it may be too late.
kilroy69 993 Posted April 19, 2018 I doubt he cares about money. His salary is what they find in couch cushions.

Patriotsfatboy1 1,432 Posted April 19, 2018 You know that this is not news. Right? They said they would be needing to redo his deal before the season once they figure out how long he wants to play for. He is not holding out for a new contract.

Frozenbeernuts 1,652 Posted April 19, 2018 or wanted to at least. Kraft should have left the football moves to BB, he should have learned his lesson from the tuna Idk man. If I am the owner, it's hard to let the coach trade the greatest QB of all time and the reason he has 5 SBs. Especially while his game is still good.
TimmySmith 2,782 Posted April 19, 2018 2 years $60M. They have absolutely no choice.

Huge caveat though. had Jimmy G started and played well last year, it would be over now and people would have realized the future was here. Maybe the Patriots can get lucky and overpay Big D1ck Nick after this season
IGotWorms 3,297 Posted April 19, 2018 Trading jimmy g was focking stupid. Maybe even dumber than benching your super bowl hero CB in the biggest game of the year

Frozenbeernuts 1,652 Posted April 19, 2018 Trading jimmy g was focking stupid. Maybe even dumber than benching your super bowl hero CB in the biggest game of the year If you have no loyalty toward Brady, then it was stupid. If you are loyal to Brady, then it was the only choice. I have always had high hopes for Jimmy, but its Tom Brady.
TimmySmith 2,782 Posted April 19, 2018 only moron Patriots rump swabs thought it was a good trade at the time. Cheat has made a career as a GM out of selling high and buying low. Which is exactly what he did with Garrapolo. It was a good trade. The alternatives were sitting on Jimmy while Brady played out the string (2-3years) or getting rid of Brady. Neither was a real option.
edjr 5,546 Posted April 19, 2018 If you have no loyalty toward Brady, then it was stupid. If you are loyal to Brady, then it was the only choice. I have always had high hopes for Jimmy, but its 40 YEAR OLD Tom Brady. Fixed Jimmy G is
Patriotsfatboy1 1,432 Posted April 19, 2018 You're like the Sho Nuff of Patriots news. Maybe if you lived here, you might know more. This goes back a long time. Heck, even the fake Don Yee call raised the issue. This is from right after the SB http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/02/10/fake-news-or-not-tom-brady-needs-a-new-contract/ From ed's link in the OP The Patriots have a history of extending Brady's deal with two years remaining on the standing contract. In which case, it's not unreasonable for Brady to expect a renegotiation with an annual average of $14 million due in the final two years of his current agreement. That said, neither Rapoport nor Garafolo believes Wednesday's reports represent a ploy by Brady to expedite those talks. In fact, Brady's public statements on the matter have left no doubt that he intends to return for a 19th NFL season. "Tom Brady is going to play in 2018," Rapoport explained. "He said it. Everyone close to him has said it. Everyone I've spoken to has said it. The Patriots are going forward with the very strict and stern belief that he will be playing for 2018. I don't get the sense that they considered any of these reports this morning about 'maybe he doesn't play.'

Herbivore 904 Posted April 19, 2018 They should have traded Jimmy G before last years draft. There was no way Brady was going anywhere. At a minimum, he was playing last year and this coming year, and likely the year after that. The Jimmy G trade was the best thing to do at the time, however it was too late for the best value.
