Wow, the Jags may have the best WR core in the league next year

Recommended Posts

I don't know if you've heard, but Dede Westbrook is the greatest WR the NFL has ever seen. Scr@w those other guys. Dede will carry JAX to a world championship all on his own!

On top of that D and Fournett... all they need is a QB to be unstoppable

Eli and Coughlin hook up again. Giants take a QB with a high draft choice because they suck and get something from Jax for Eli. So 2 high picks in next years draft and maybe some bodies that actually want to play football.

Just a theory that's floating around the NYC area.

I wouldn't be surprised by this. Bring Eli in with Coughlin, let Bortles tune up his game behind a "Manning" . I wouldn't be surprised if Coughlin said "hey'll no" either, lol.

Why would Jax downgrade from a 25 year old QB who sucks, to a 37 year old QB that sucks and runs backwards and curls up into the fetal position when anybody is near him? They would be better off with a guy like Rivers.

Better off.

Rivers is one year younger and he's having his worst season that he's had in five years.

He has scored a total of four points more then Eli has this season, and maybe you might have forgotten that's with out Beckham.

I'm sure NY would love to.get rid of manning. What team wouldn't?

Dede has proven to be a generational WR, its amazing every time he touches the field.

This ^. I read that Jerry Rice was recently quoted as saying Dede is already a better WR than he ever was. Rice said he is keeping himself in shape for no other reason than to stay alive another 25 years so he can personally give his spot in the HOF to Dede..

It's a QB heavy draft. The Giants should do the same thing the Colts did with Peyton and Luck. Assuming someone wants Eli. Jax has a good RB, good def (not sure about their O line) and maybe they make a run in the playoffs.

Except that any pick acquired from Jacksonville wouldn't be a high pick at all. They're actually winning games.

Trading for Eli isn't happening. Giants fans can forget about that.

Rumors say the Giants would be willing to give picks to Jacksonville just to take Eli off their hands.

as giants fan I have no interest in trading our 2 time superbowl winning, future hall of fame QB for spare parts...

I would think Giants fans would be interested in offensive linemen that can actually block. That would help tremendously. It would also help if they didn't lose their top 2 WR to IR. Oh, and if the defense would tackle somebody especially when it's 3rd down and 55 to go for the opponent.

would love an upgrade on the Oline. This year has been horrific. The hope is mcadoo will be gone next year, The Gmen fix the Oline, ODB is back and with a cushy last place schedule Eli has enough left to make one more run.

If eli Manning gets to win a super bowl again I might kill myself. I could not stand to see that eli Manning cry face. It's just...sooo ugh. I wanna punch him.

I don't think Eli makes the Hall of Fame.

at the Moment Eli is 7th all time in passing yards with 50,307. He will likely pass Elway for 6th this season. He's won two superbowls. That's a hall of fame Resume right there. Look as a Giants fan I think of Eli as the worst good player of all-time, he can be frustrating as hell, but I think he wears the gold jacket one day...

Two Super Bowl wins against Brady.

That's HOF stuff.

you cannot deny his achievements.

2 superbowls and 50,000 yards passing is more than enough. QB's have made the hall of fame with less.

Eli's last two or three seasons were a function of a terrible line and/or terrible team and some injuries to the offense.

If you fix the O line, you may find Eli will experience a rebirth.....

unfortunately I dont have faith that Giants management really understands the importance of a good line.

I think the Eli to Jags deal makes a lot of sense. Giants have a lot of work to do in order to become competitive again. I'm not sure there's a player on that O-line that is in the top half of the league at their position. There are no play-makers in the backfield. You've got a nice receiving corps with Beckham, Shepard and Engram, but that's about it.

The defense should be better based on the talent, but I'm guessing they quit somewhere along the way.

If you fire Macadoo and totally change offensive philosophy I'd assume this team needs at least 2 drafts before they're competitive again at least on the offensive side of the ball. At that point you're banking on a 38 year old Eli Manning to be able to do enough to take this team deep into the playoffs? I just don't see it.

I think a lot depends on if Macadoo is fired (don't see how he can't be the way the team has quit) and who his replacement is, but unless they think they'll be legit contenders in 2 seasons I don't see why you'd keep Eli.

Now in Jacksonville, Eli just needs to be a game manager. They have a line, they have a playmaker in the backfield, they have weapons in the receiving game and a philosophy where the QB doesn't have to win games. It think Eli's a perfect fit there and could have a couple of productive seasons where he and one other player (Beckham) aren't the entire offense. In addition the defense they have will never force Jacksonville to be in game scripts where Jacksonville is a pass first team.

It just seems to make sense for the Giants to pick up some draft picks and blow this team up and for Jacksonville to go from playoff contender to superbowl contender.

I hope the HOF voters don't have as low of standards and some of you guys do. He has a career passer rating of 84.0 and a sub 60% completion percentage. He ranks 19th in total Int's. His 3.1 int% is the highest of ALL of his peers. He's a "good" QB. It's called the Hall of "FAME", not the Hall of "GOOD". At no point in his career was he ever a top 5 QB and half the time he probably wasn't even top 10.

Heck, if the Bengals ever get a good coach and over the next 8 years they win 2 Super Bowls, Andy Dalton will miraculously become an HOF QB too.

Andy Dalton's first 6 years (93 games)

22,214 yards / 142 TD / 81 Int's / 7.3 ypa / 89.1 passer rating

Eli Manning's first 6 years (89 games)

18,644 / 125 TD / 88 Int's / 6.7 ypa / 79.2 passer rating

I don't disagree with the poster above.

Don't know going forward what the HOF committee is looking at when voting players in.

But there is no way they won't look at his two super bowl wins over the best team in the NFL, and over the best QB that ever played the game.

Those two games won't get him in alone, but they will add that into it.

I think he will make it in.

Is Big Ben a HOF QB?

His first six seasons.

88 games, 19334 yards 127 tds and 81 ints, rating of 92.8.

I think he might (probably should), but I don't think it's a lock, but Ben has a much better resume than Eli. Don't confuse the argument though when comparing the first 6 seasons. Dalton has only played 6 seasons, Ben has played 14. As I said, if Andy Dalton, over the next 8 years... makes the playoffs just twice and wins those Super Bowls and pro-rates his current stats over those next years, he'll have better HOF credentials than Eli Manning.

Joe Flacco's resume is on par with Eli's. Is Flacco going to the HOF too?

Eli has also played in 14 NFL seasons.

I'm just comparing all three of them together based on there first six seasons as you did.

Will let's see, using your first six season theory.

Flacco 96 games 21545 yards 121 tds and 78 ints.

Now does he rank in his first six season to the others , using your first six season comparison?

You're taking the "first 6" out of context... still. Dalton has only played 6 full seasons (plus this one), not 10, 12, or 14 like the others. That said, out of the 4... Ben, Eli, Flacco, and Dalton, Eli ranks 4th over their first 6 seasons.

By what metric would anyone conclude the Jags may have the best WR core in the league next year?

:dunno:

My guess is the over-rating of Westbrook and Marquise Lee (former first rounder), plus Robinson and Hurns. If Blake Bortles really is the main problem and holding everyone back and Robinson is a true #1 WR and if Westbrook and Lee become the WR's they're thought to be, then having a guy like Hurns (who is "decent"), as a #4 would probably qualify as have the best WR core. That said, the biggest problem with this is that both Robinson and Lee are in contract years, so both would have to be re-signed. My guess is that both are not brought back... because, well, that's why they drafted Westbrook.

Plus they would need a QB to get them too that number.

They would seem to have the same kind of potential that the Chargers have. Will either team manage to actualize the potential?
