Jermichael finley is not who we thought he was

Thanks for the lesson. Unfortunately, most of us don't play with retards. As such, Gronkowski was drafted.

Why the draft is overrated for team success

Autodraft wouldn't have given you Foster or McFadden last year. Auto-draft wouldn't have given you Gronkowski, Britt, or Stafford this year.

    Late draft with small league

#1 recommendation - forget everything you know about 10 and 12 teamers and really stare at 8 team ADPs and the kind of team you might end up with under different strategies. The differences between 8 and 10/12 are stark. On draft day, it may not feel huge between an 8 and a 10 but there are always serviceable WR3s on waivers in an 8 teamer and you can get a serviceable RB3 off waivers most weeks. Studs at as many positions as possible, and draft for upside. You will be tempted to take "massive values" at RB who are "still there" throughout the draft, but the fact of the matter is that Cedric Benson and similar players isn't startable in an 8 teamer. It's funny that 8 team and 12 team draft strategies are almost opposite. You might stack up on RBs, wait on QBs and TEs in a 12 teamer. If you do that in an 8 teamer, you'll have 6 starting caliber RBs, the worst QB1 in the league and the worst TE1 in the league, and a pedestrian WR corps because you'll take a "5th round RB" like Mathews/Greene that you'll never start over a WR2 that you need. WR is easy to replace on waivers. Don't waste a 9th rounder on a guy Mike Thomas unless you think he has 12-teamer WR1 potential. Tight End is deep. Unless you're taking Gates in the late 4th/early 5th or a 2nd tier "stud" later, wait a while but don't settle on Olsen and Jared Cook. Almost the same goes for QBs. Vick and Rodgers are fine picks late in the 1st or in the 2nd. Brady is a fine pick in the late 3rd. You'll be tempted to wait on QB and go with Flacco or Roeth in the 7th/8th but you will be giving up a lot of points most weeks.

    Jeremiah Johnson

I have been following him for the last 2 years. I think he could emerge as this year's LeGarrette Blount. While it's unlikely, he has the talent. He has drawn good reviews in camp, and I feel pretty confident we know what Moreno is and we've known what McGahee is for a while now. If you're looking for a home run in a relatively deep league and have spare parts (somebody like Randy Moss or Bilal Powell or Torrey Smith), then I would take a flier on him. Odds are, he doesn't see enough PT but we know Fox likes to run the ball and I just don't think Moreno is his guy. Only issue is that Fox prefers veterans over all else.

    What's missing from FFToday?

I thought you were going to say people who actually provide sound reasoning and analysis, and not witty one-liners. I miss that, too.

how do you feel about 10 team leagues?

Since this is what you no doubt want to hear, your superiority is acknowleged not lost on me. Your poker comparison is poor, at best. High stakes poker:Low stakes poker :: High buy-in FF leagues:Small buy-in FF leagues League size has nothing to do with it. It's all about the skill of the players in the league, since everyone is on the same footing. I have played 8, 10, and 12 team leagues. The 8 was no easier than the 10, which was no easier than the 12. Your team is better relative to a larger league so it FEELS easier, but so is everyone else's. You may score 115 every week and think "this is easy" but you'll wonder at the end of the year how you got "so unlucky" and missed the playoffs. A lot of us play in 10 team leagues because it's really hard to keep a live-draft 14 team league intact and "stocked" with people who know their stuff year-to-year.

how do you feel about 10 team leagues?

In a draft, I prefer 10 because the teams aren't stacked, and you're aren't totally screwed with massive drop-offs in talent. In an auction, I'm agnostic between 10 and 12 teamers.

    Calvin the # 1 WR?

Yes, the key word being "easily." If Stafford plays 16 games, I would expect 15 as a base case. He is the one guy that I think has a chance at breaking Moss's single season TD record.

who is on your bench week #1 BUT...you

    DeAngelo Lance Kendricks Bernard Berrian

    Mark Ingram

I took the OP to mean 1200 total yards and 10 TDs. Even if it didn't, he'll get virtually no 3rd down work which means that backs who were behind him in rushing categories are ahead of him when viewing it from a total fantasy points perspective which is all that matters here.
  12. De Novo

    Mark Ingram

No, 1200 and 10 is 3rd round production at best. You can get a WR in the 2nd that will top those numbers.
  13. De Novo

Where do you draft Peyton now?

No earlier than 120th overall. Too many good players available. I'll let some other sucker use a roster spot for 4 weeks only to learn it will be another 4 weeks and then that he won't return until week 15.

    Rumor: Peyton Manning Out Indefinitely

I read that last part as in excess of 4-5 weeks. Seems like 4-5 weeks would be if everything goes perfect, which it has not thus far. My guess is he will have surgery again and that it will be November until we see him, if we see him at all.

    Rumor: Peyton Manning Out Indefinitely

As someone who is paid to read deception for a living, the "I honestly don't." addition says more than a denial. He is, at a minimum, concerned that Manning may need another procedure.
