Recommended Posts

my next pick is still in heavy classic rock radio rotation and it's artist/band is only represented here once.

I've got something similar on tap as well you focker!

Has a definite decision been made if were doing another draft and if so 70's or 90's?

I know who I want to take this round but I've got a tougher decision to make for next one as it's my last selection. I did mention earlier that in both cases it'll be two artists not yet represented.

I doubt TBBOM is around to send this back stateside tonight. I'm going to send vudu one name and think on the last one as I go off to bed.

Solid. I like it, even if its a little one dimensional.

I was a pure rock guy when I saw Beat It on video. I made a comment to my cousin, who was also a rocker, that the EVH solo was the only good part of the song.

He called me out and said, Bullshit, that song is focking great. You gotta give credit where its due.

I bought the Thriller album the next day, and he was right. That awakening opened my mind to several different genres. And as proven here, there was no shortage of good music across the genres in the 80s.

Im looking forward to seeing Raider Haters project so I can enjoy all these songs again.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I like other stuff too. I just like this stuff more. I wasn't interested in the chart hits so much or taking artists who's reputation was built on what other people thought were great. I wanted to collect the songs and artists I like from the genre I like.

16.02 Judas Priest - Breaking the Law

I had to have some Judas Priest in my draft and kinda figured that Breaking the Law was going to get taken, so I set my eyes on my favorite song from them in the 80s many rounds ago...

16.03 Judas Priest - The Hellion / Electric Eye

Over here, the Chinese government knows the words but not the tune to this song.

Chinese surveillance is delivered much more softly and with a kindly, smiling face.

15:07 Send Me An Angel - Real Life

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0R6WIbx8ysE

Won't find this on any top 100, or hell even 200, top hits list........But it certainly makes my team.

This one time, I was looking for a deal going through the cassette tape discount bin for music. I found an album done by an artist from a band that I liked. He had made this solo album that until that moment I hadn't even realize had existed. So I'm looking at the song names and I didn't recognize a single one. Fock it. Since I liked the guy, I thought it might be worth a buck or two and I'll give it an ear. I tell you what, it was an awesome album, a gem full of great songs and I played the hell out of that cassette. It's here in China with me now, but with all the music on the internet or for download, I don't listen to my cassettes anymore.

Anyway, one of my all time favorite songs is on that album. I'm listening to it right now. There was no video made and I have never it heard on the radio. The song briefly charted in the UK, never did hit the US charts, and it's an absolute lock to be my 16th rounder when we do the 90s music draft because I want the Geek Club to give it a listen.

My only regret in choosing this band for a song is I can't pick Rock Lobster(79) but imo they have to be represented in an 80's song draft.

11.9 Roam-The B-52's

I;ve been listening to this song, went to find out out who the dreaded "Fred" is.

One thing I did was I looked up Rock Lobster and thankfully it was a '79 hit since if you had picked it, it would not have gone over nearly so well. I would not be looking up Roam or Love Shack if we'd started with Rock Lobster. (Fred is good in Love Shack btw.). This song and Love Shack are both a helluva lot better.

Thus far, this is still my favorite pick in the draft for the impact it will have on what I'll be listening to in the future.

Shots is on the clock and is prolly stuck in a traffic jam he caused while driving as he looked through a 2" x 2" hole on his windshield that he scraped with his license.

I'll be leaving at noon for a few hours. If the jaws of life haven't pried him out by then I'll shoot Vudu an message with my pick.

I mentioned taking a band only represented once and I changed my mind to another similar band but changed my mind again - have end with a Rock song.

Not my favorite from this band or even this album but an iconic 80's song none the less
