mkuz 0 Posted August 25, 2006 who would you start week 1? delhomme vs atlanta rivers vs oakland also, i have gates for san diego and foster for carolina and he has s. smith for carolina and LT2 for san diego. so if i went delhomme more than likely his s. smith would cancel at least 1 of delhomme's tds and take away some of my own, foster's opportunities. also ATL is tough on the pass. but delhomme is my stud QB and a proven player and id hate to sit him first week. if i went rivers i would be going with an unproven QB, who could step right in and fill brees's shos or he could be crap, so this move does make me nervious. however, OAK's D is not good to say the least. my rivers would potentially cancel out his LT2 with a TD or at least limit his opportunities. also i would have a nice QB-TE combo in rivers and gates for double points on a gates TD. i may be overthinking this one but i have a tough matchup with one of the leagues better teams this first week and i really want to start the season off with a bang. all opinions are welcome...leave a link and i will get back with you
shake_a_leg 0 Posted August 25, 2006 This is an interesting dilemma. I think you've pretty much laid out the ground work for whatever moves could be made. I think that given that it's Week 1, you should go with Delhomme. If Smith does start, any yardage he gets will be negated by your Delhomme points. Jake gets the edge because KJ is going to catch a few balls. Having Foster opens up the screen pass possibilty as well. I don't know if Rivers will cancel out his LT2 so much, since most of LTs points are going to come off the ground game. At least with Delhomme, you're working on a direct contrast of players. I'm a poosay when it comes to starting rookies, and even though Rivers isn't a rook...he's still a nOOb. If this was Week 3, it might be a different story...but you're not going to see the dynamic between Rivers and LT in the preseason so it's probably a safer move to start Delhomme for now. carmo911 2 Posted August 25, 2006 thanks for mine I would still play Delhomme. S. Smith is one guy. Delhomme has Smith, Johnson, Foster (bonus for you) to throw to. Always play a proven vet in the beginning of a season.
shaeger 0 Posted August 25, 2006 I'd start Delhomme until Rivers plays under the pressure of the regular season. I would be a little concerned that Grady Jackson, John Abraham and Pat Kerney may break one or both of Delhomme's legs the first time he goes back to pass, but then I'm an Atlanta fan... Dogberry 0 Posted August 25, 2006 These are the quarterbacks on my team, and I'm starting Delhomme, for whatever that's worth (I'm a long time lurker and player, but this is my first post!)
