Looks like Pocahontas is Native American after all

Recommended Posts

Besides getting a job, high level welfare in this case, why would anyone want to claim to be an American Indian?

Around here there are tribes that own casinos and their members get pretty substantial checks each month, from what I hear at least.

The Daily Wire's take:

Pocahontas admits she's 99.9% white.

Where?

I live in Michigan. The Soaring Eagle has two casinos close by, Mt Pleasant and Standish.

Indian owned casinos are all over the state though. Not all the same tribe I don't think.

Yeah the Mt. Pleasant tribe Saginaw Chippewa do pretty good. Most tribes casinos don't do as well. They are in pretty sparsely populated areas. A handful do well... Sag Chip are one of those. The Dakota Sioux own Mystic Lake in Minneapolis... the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut... that tribe does really well. Most others don't give sh!t. Mine gives nothing.

Was this reported here already?

Boston Globe Issues 2ND CORRECTION on the story: https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2018/oct/15/boston-globe-issues-second-correction-elizabeth-wa/

"“Due to a math error, a story about Elizabeth Warren misstated the ancestry percentage of a potential 6th to 10th generation relative. The generational range based on the ancestor that the report identified suggests she’s between 1/64th and 1/1,024th Native American,” said the clarification."

So now she's not even in the ballpark of even being on the extreme end of being an Indian, I believe. Wasn't that 1/32nd?

Interesting. Is it rude for me to ask what tribe or what percent you are?

Not rude as I've thrown it out there... Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa out of North Dakota, a little over 25%... though my CIB (certificate of indian blood, used by the federal gov to determine) shows 1/4 we're also Cree from Canada, but you can only show native from one tribe. You have to "declare" which tribe even if you are eligible for two.... I look nothing like my Mom's native side. My pops parents are fresh off the boat german fleeing the reich. I look like a poster child for the nazi youth. Haha...

My mom's parents on thier wedding day.

Ironically... they weren't considered citizens of the US until 1924... two years before this photo.

https://breaking911.com/breaking-cherokee-nation-issues-statement-on-sen-elizabeth-warrens-dna-test-results/

Later in the day, The Cherokee Nation issued a statement responding to the report:

A DNA test is useless to determine tribal citizenship. Current DNA tests do not even distinguish whether a persons ancestors were indigenous to North or South America. Sovereign tribal nations set their own legal requirements for citizenship, and while DNA tests can be used to determine lineage, such as paternity to an individual, it is not evidence for tribal affiliation. Using a DNA test to lay claim to any connection to the Cherokee Nation or any tribal nation, even vaguely, is inappropriate and wrong. It makes a mockery out of DNA tests and its legitimate uses while also dishonoring legitimate tribal governments and their citizens, who ancestors are well documented and whose heritage is prove. Senator Warren is undermining tribal interests with her continued claims of tribal heritage.

Cherokee Nation Secretary of State Chuck Hoskin, Jr

Im not following this super-close...

1. What was Warrens claim in the first place?

2. Is it true that whatever comparison was done, that it actually wasnt compared to real North American DNA(which I assume we all feel is an "indian")? It was compared to South American?

I suspect that Warren was using the leftist inclination toward identity politics in an attempt to curry some favor with voters, she seems to have heard stories from her family that she is part Cherokee or something like that, and sort of ran with it.

Trump made fun of her for doing it, as it was an obvious attempt to manipulate people.

She got a DNA test to prove it I guess, and discovered that she is more or less in line with just about anyone, perhaps even less, in terms of her Native American lineage.

The Native American folks got pissed because they also understand she was trying to use their status as a mistreated minority to gain political capital, are essentially telling her to stop it.....lol

She faked it to get into Penn and Harvard. (Not that there's anything wrong with that).

What you apparently can't figure out is how to use Google. Warren has been consistent in pointing to one ancestor, her Great Great Great Grandmother O.C. Sarah Smith as the one her mother and grandmother have said was a Native American.

Boston Globe

And of course in all of this your keep skip over why this is a story in the first place.

Boston Globe

Questions over Warrens ethnicity have dogged her since her 2012 Senate campaign, when she was challenging Republican senator Scott Brown, who had been elected in a stunning upset special election in 2010. Thats when GOP operatives found archival stories in the Harvard Crimson of a Harvard Law School spokesman referring to her as a Native American as a way to show the school had a diverse faculty.

Which was totally proven to be false

And during all of this, you have completely overlooked President Trump making something that wasn't an issue into one.

It would be nice if you actually learned the truth be putting anything down.

Havard was so proud of their little Indian they called her a "women of color".

It's funny you believe it had no barring on her getting hired.

“Pocahontas (the bad version), sometimes referred to as Elizabeth Warren, is getting slammed. She took a bogus DNA test and it showed that she may be 1/1024, far less than the average American. Now Cherokee Nation denies her, ‘DNA test is useless.’ Even they don’t want her. Phony!” Trump tweeted.

Fox News

If Warren is 10 generations removed from a Native-American ancestor, she would be no more Native American -- .09 percent -- than any of the groups studied in that research. If she's 1/64 Native American, it amounts to 1.5 percent, or greater than the average European American.

Again, all she claimed was a 'distant' relative was a Native American, and lo and behold one is...and the results square with the one Warren has named. You guys and your spin...

“Wrong”

Democratic Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren acknowledged for the first time late Wednesday night that she told Harvard University and the University of Pennsylvania that she was Native American, but she continued to insist that race played no role in her recruitment.

“At some point after I was hired by them, I . . . provided that information to the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard,’’ she said in a statement issued by her campaign. “My Native American heritage is part of who I am, I’m proud of it and I have been open about it.’’
