Do you golf sober?

Recommended Posts

I've played with a few guys who hate to drink and golf. Cart girl comes around and they order nothing since it affects their game. Now I could prob play better if I wasn't drinking but where's the fun on that? At Augusta International (beat ya to it losers) we didn't drink but my BIL couldn't anyway. Afterwards, we did and made up for lost time. So do any of you golf sober?

I fall into that category of:

0 drinks = meh golfer

1-2 drinks = little better

2-4 drinks = peak performance

4+ drinks = performance falls off quickly with each additional drink.

The key is keeping plateau'ed as long as possible.

This. The key is staying in that window between lubricated and inebriated.

This. Like Bier said I don't take it seriously like some guys I've played with (and my nephew but he's not old enough to drink) do. But I cap my limit at 6 drinks. Anything over and I get sloppy as hell

Depends on the group I'm in. I can go anywhere from playing dry to having numerous nips and beers and anything in between.

I only drink enough to take an edge off the coke and meth.

Weird. I only do coke and meth to put the edge on after I have some drinks

Usually have two or three Kewrs Lites before we get started. While others are at the range, I'm drinking and putting on the practice green. Then I usually have four or five a side. I never play in the morning. Don't like drinking before noon. Which causes a problem. Played last week. Teed it up at noon. It was fawking hot. Nobody in our group started drinking till the middle of the back nine because of it. The heat doesn't bother me as long as I have a cold one in hand.

I fall into that category of:

0 drinks = meh golfer not good

1-2 drinks = little better meh golfer

2-4 drinks = peak performance getting there

4+ drinks = performance falls off quickly with each additional drink. hitting my peak

My numbers are more than yours, but I play better if I am pretty drunk. I tend to be far looser with my swing and I can hit it a lot farther. If I am drunk and playing for something, then I also concentrate and I play much better. I have a buddy that I usually pair up with and we get challenged all the time. We both drink like fishes and it affects the other team because they can't figure out how they could possibly be losing to a couple of drunks.

I rarely golf, but I like to either have a few beers or a cigar. Just something to unwind and relax. No way I'm doing it sober.

I also can't bowl sober anymore either.

Mixed results when I do.

Today shot 38 on front then bought two cans (pints of Yeungling). Started back nine with 4 straight bogeys....but closed with h 3 solid pars and two lip out birdies.

I purposely don't golf with someone who would take it that seriously.

Are they constantly trying to give you tips and talking about the one shot they once made?

If I only play 9, then yes.

If I play 18. None on the front 9, then I'll start cracking them open on the 10th.

Reason being. Once I start getting lit and feeling pretty good. I tend to drop my shoulder and start picking up my head.

So if I'm doing 18, I gotta try to pace myself.
