The final season of Game of Thrones will feature a battle the likes of which TV has never seen before. Sure, there's been the Battle of the Bastards and the Loot Train Ambush, but all of those sequences will pale in comparison to what awaits fans when Season 8 premieres in 2019.
According to Watchers on the Wall, the cast and crew just wrapped a 55 consecutive night shoot of a massive battle. That length of time more than doubles the amount of time it took to film their previous large-scale action scenes.
To celebrate this momentous occasion, assistant director Jonathan Quinlan posted a thank you note on Instagram from "The Producer Types" addressed to the "Night Dragons" for all of their hard work.
"When tens of millions of people around the world watch this episode a year from now, they won't know how hard you worked," the letter reads. "They won't care how tired you were or how tough it was to do your job in sub-freezing temperatures."
Check out the thank you note, which has since been removed from Quinlan's Instagram, below:
The letter goes on to say Game of Thrones viewers will see something "that's never been done before," so it looks like fans are in for quite a treat next year. After reading the series finale, Jorah Mormont actor Iain Glen said he believes the Season 8 conclusion is a "rather brilliant" end to the series.
