Keeper Entry Problem

Recommended Posts

Hey. I have DB set for 2 keepers and checked that we lose draft picks. On the keeper tab, for each team there are pull-downs for the position and the player name. But the 1st pull-down only shows a checkmark, not a choice of draft picks. Selecting the checkmark does nothing. Any idea what I might have done wrong?

Thanks, Russell

It's also not updating anywhere. That is, the players entered aren't showing on the rosters of the teams nor are they coming off or being grayed out on any of the cheatsheet tabs,

Another issue, if this helps figure out the answer. It appears that the spreadsheet should have 3 yellow cells per player: the first has a checkmark option & I assume this is where draft position should be, then the position, then the player name. After a player is selected, his team & bye week did show up after his name. On my spreadsheet, for the first team it has only the 2nd & 3rd cells and there is a extra cell after the last team.

Hi Russell. The first pull-down - click the checkmark. A drop-down should appear, and it is where you select the position of the player you want. That will then trigger the next, wider yellow cell to show a drop-down of available players at that position. It is done this way because it would be a really long list otherwise.

You're right, with the "keepers cost a draft pick" option on, there should be three yellow cells per player. One for position, second for player name, two white cells for team and bye, and then the third yellow for the draft pick given up, also a drop-down. It sounds like you do have all the cells you should have, but they are in a different order than you are expecting. Maybe I'll have to add some column headings to that tab to clarify.

Does it make sense now or still not working properly? You will have to select the player before you select the draft pick. At the point you pick the draft pick, what it does is copies the player to that pick on the draft report tab. When you are finished inputting all keepers, scan down the draft report tab to check the players are next to the correct picks and teams. If they are not, you can select the position and player on the draft report tab, and hit Delete or Edit > Clear Contents, to clear that draft pick.

Not sure what I did - whether it was another compile or a save/exit/re-open, but it is now working in all regards. The placement of the cell for draft pick is a little confusing, since there's a while cell in between, but it's not a big deal. Thanks

Mike, am I correct that the one place that doesn't get modified is the "Summary" tab, which doesn't automatically account for lost picks? So if I were using that tab to track my draft, I'd have to pay attention to which picks those are and use the "Skip Pick" button?

Sorry rbhorn. Didn't see your last response to this post until just now.

No, the summary tab should keep track of the current pick even for keepers and update accordingly. You should only have to use Skip Pick if there is actually a skipped pick in the draft.

No worries, our draft doesn't start until the 25th. I figured out that until I started a draft, I couldn't see what would happen. But when I mocked a pick for #1, it then showed who #2 kept, and moved to #3. The program always amazes me. Thanks
