Raiders sign Jordy Nelson, release Crabtree

The Raiders have opted for 32 year-old Nelson over the 30 year-old Crabtree. Nelson's production took a dip last season to the tune of 482 yards, 6 TDs and 9.1 yards per catch. To make room for the addition, Crabtree was sent packing which saved Oakland $7.5 million. Nelson will serve as the No.2 receiver behind Amari Cooper but should be considered a WR4/5 for fantasy purposes.

I would agree, I know the Raiders did it for the money, but this is a mistake.

2 Timothy 1:8.

Ravens is not an awful landing for Crabtree if it happens.

He'll be the undisputed number 1. Part of Flacco stinking up the joint was having nobody he felt he could throw to in certain areas of the field. The lack of options was so bad he made completely crippled Ben Watson a solid WW pickup for some stretches.

I say Flacco peppers Crabtree and he ends up fairly reliable and consistent on a weekly basis.

Solid WR2 IMO and less weekly variance than others with the same total production is my way too early guess.

Yeah you might be right.

Biggest problem I have with him going to the Ravens is a lack of passing tds.

Crabtree seems too excel at TD rec I mean he has scored 25 TD rec over the last three season.

And his QB those last three seasons D Carr has tossed 82 tds over those three season, in which Flacco has tossed 52.

But with Crabtree like you said that total might go up, but I'm not so sure it will.

Thanks.

OAK dumping Tree for Jordy is a net loss imo.

He'll make a helluva rz/possession receiver where ever he lands.

Balt, Chi, Indy, NE, LAR all good spots.

I think this was a mistake on the part of the Raiders.

Not sure why they let Crabs go.

on that note: I'm not sure why Crabtree would want to go to Baltimore. That's where WR's go to die isnt it?

I think he would be awesome in any of those locations except maybe Baltimore.

Something going on behind the scenes?

Guess it could be a scheme issue but its sure hard to argue that Jordy for Crabtree is an upgrade in any objective sense

I don't know about Jordy at this point.

He's had some injuries and seems to rely a little too much on Aaron Rodgers.

Carr is certainly good enough to get him the ball but I don't know that he isn't at the end of the last leg

There's been rumblings about locker room chemistry, and the move may be more about Amari Cooper than Crabs. Nelson will be a legit mentor and tutor for Cooper, and Gruden obviously sees a big role for Nelson in whatever offense he has planned. There's been speculation, but nobody has a solid take on what a modern Jon Gruden offense will look like. Crabtree's also been nicked up plenty the last two seasons, though the man is a warrior. Late in 2017 there were rumors he took himself out of games late, though they could never be attributed between him or the coaches.

There has been a rumor out there for awhile that the Raiders Oline intentionally, in a premeditated fashion, allowed David Carr to get sacked until he was hurt.

The desire to do so allegedly stemmed from Carr preaching to them (literally from the bible) in reference to the National Anthem protest for which he believed all should stand as a team. Some other players beyond the OL were supposedly aware of the "plan" and the incident contributed to Oak being among the most divided locker room.................. goes the story.

Not sure if it ever happened that way, or if it did, Crab was one of the "aware" but he was one of a couple of players sitting on a cooler with Marshawn Lynch during the National Anthem on Sunday Night football early in the season, so Crab was definitely on the other side of Carr in the divide.

Lynch for Murray

Nelson for Crabtree

next year Eli for Carr

All upgrades , just ask a Raiders fan, they dont have no history of destroying themselves
