Have him as #2....very happy he is going way under the radar for how good he played in playoffs and preseason.

I like him this year, but don't think he's going to take the leap as a fantasy QB just yet. Steady production that puts him in the top 10-12 again? Definitely. Top-5 upside? I prefer Cam, Kaep, Romo, and Cutler. Wilson's going to need that defense to get a little worse before he can become Russell Unchained and wreck shop. I do think he'll probably get there one day, as he has a very long career ahead of him.

30-35 total tds. Not terrible, but if he gets a decent chunk of rushing yards and rushing tds, he'll elevate himself into top 8ish territory. For where he's going, that ain't not too bad!

Oh so your league goes by last years stats? That's an interesting dynamic.

He was 8th in most leagues last year already

yup, and yet he got drafted super late this year, which is the point i was making. Great value where he landed. He does have upside but I can't picture him in top 5 when the likes of brady/brees/rogers/ryan/manning floating around. Add in Cam, Romo, etc. So moral of the story, he's great value. Forget about qb2. You can roll him out every week and he won't be the guy that'll be the reason you lost...

A nice start for him and that offense as a whole.

If Percy Harvin stays healthy..................

200yds 2tds 20yds rushing. You can pretty much bank that every week for Russell. The dude is so underrated as a fantasy QB1 it's silly. Top 10 both years in the league, most wins all time by a 2yr qb, 2nd most tds ever by a 2yr qb. Outside of the top 3 qbs I really can't find a safer choice to wait for. Flashier with more upside? Sure there are a few, but none with a higher floor than ol Russ.

that 2nd td was a gift. They very easily could have run the clock out there, kicked a FG to go up 16, etcetcetc. Don't get me wrong, FF is won and lost on garbage pts, but 96 out a 100 times in that same scenario he doesn't score that TD, because they don't throw the ball. I'll take it, solid start for him, but if that D plays like that and beast face keeps beasting, there will be games he won't do much. Hell there might be games he's not even playing all 4 quarters. They are going to rough up some teams something fierce. We got ourselves a dynasty in the making here, they looked something fierce last night...

Yeah...I think he is very consistent. But its generally not the "bigger" games that the top guys are getting, or those that end up going higher than him.

I think its the flashy upside that people go for.

Reminds me in a way of Rudi Johnson (though, Rudi was going higher in drafts). Guy just gave you about 1200 yards and 10 TDs every year for a few years there it seemed.

i don't see fantasy stardom for him this year... All the talk of them opening up the passing game are semi true... All i have to go off is one game, but it seemed like 'opening up the playbook' for him meant calling more pass plays as a whole... but mostly shorter dinks, and not a whole lot downfield, or deep over the middle.

that said... WOW! was he efficient! I could see them running that little QB read option run at the CB with the OTT pass pretty frequently this year! I think all that does is open up the ground game more... i see lynch breaking out... not wilson

Green Bay is a great team. Wilson is amazing. He will get a yellow jacket someday. I had that realization watching him against the Saints last yr on MNF. 17-1 at home. 25 wins out of 33 games played. When teams load up to stop Lynch he will make them pay. I really wanted him as my QB2 but somebody snagged him. Figure this, he's been top 10 both years despite throwing the least in the league. Nowhere to go but up and that is pretty scary if you really think about it...

This sums him up perfectly. Nothing more to say.

On second look, 191 yards passing and 30 rushing is not a great night, not in today's NFL. The 2 TDs are solid. I don't see huge upside with Wilson, not because he's not talented. That team is just not built for qb extravagance. He's gonna be slow and steady, but not much else, because they don't need much else from him...

I agree that Wilson will be efficient but not sexy. If I want sexy, I may have to look elsewhere because I don't think Tanneyhill is sexy either.

With Lynch still running like that they aren't going to open the offense up much more. Harvin will cause a slight uptick in the passing numbers, but 200 yard games with 1 to 3 TD's (air and ground combined), 20 to 60 rushing yards and the occasional INT will be the norm.

He will never be a great FANTASY qb. He's on a running and defensive team. He's basically Troy Aikman.

Absolutely agree with that.....smokin hot.

i'm a huge aikman fan, and i have to agree with this.

Bs

Aikman had the most accurate deep ball of all time

He just had the best rb and OL of all time as well

Russel threw short on a pass I could've thrown that would've beef a 60 yard td

Sorry

Russel can't hold aikmans jock

Show some respect

Russel is my qb this year but on a very right leash if Daulton lights it up

you're remembering wrong. aikman's strength was supreme accuracy on mid-depth routes. his deep ball was never as good, and he used to laugh that he was the all-time NFL leader in passes completed to the 1-yard line.

Correct.

And I'm only talking fantasy. In fantasy terms Aikman and Wilson feel like the same guy.

soo...he's 7th and 8th respectively in my 2 leagues. Finished top 10 the 2 years he's been in the league...bonafied QB1, just doesn't smell like one. Glad they lost to chargers at least. Don't need them resting dudes come week 13, though it might very well happen regardless. Not exactly any beasts in the NFL. Philly a paper tiger at 3-0, can easily be 0-3. We shall see, but I'm happy with the 200ish and 2 tds a week I guess...for where I got him anyway...

I have Wilson backing up luck...and I got Wilson pretty late...wish I could deal him ...but I think people are afraid to make deals and spend the transaction fee and prefer to strike it on the waiver wire without having to part with anything

Can't deal guys like Wilson regardless. He's not sexy, will always be undervalued. I'm staring at the qb stats and he's top 10 easy but I'm no ecstatic about him as my starter. But I'll ride the numbers. Dudes like that you have to start. Deal luck if you can get good value and plug him in...
