Anybody impacted by the shutdown?

Recommended Posts

This is the only saving grace. Nobody gives a fock about us as they aren't inconvenienced.

I'm glad those TSA kids are doing something.

A fed judge yesterday ruled the gov can force us to work for no pay. That otherwise it would lead to chaos and become a public safety issue. Well mutherfockers... give it one more missed paycheck and just see how many people show up. You'll see some fockin chaos...

Oh so sorry Merica... sorry to inconvienience you with us not getting paid to protect you...

I feel for you brother!

The more I think about this the more I just don't give a fock. Sorry Beer. I had to take an unpaid leave of absence from my job to care for my dying mother for two months at the end of 2018. Anyone with a decent paying job should plan for possibilities that would include not having a paycheck for a relatively short period of time. It's one thing for a fry cook to be living paycheck to paycheck. It's another for people making decent coin. And, unlike Beer, no one is going to pay me for the two months I wasn't working.

CNN messed up and prematurely put out the sob stories of folks selling cars/tvs/pets etc.

They didn't miss a paycheck until last Friday.

The fake sob stories made no sense, yet sheeple buy it.

I personally know one guy whos been furloughed. He had a mortgage and a daughter in college. Youll be surprised to know hes not enjoying his free vacation.

I agree. You miss one check and your world is crashing down.

Why didn't he have any savings?

Maybe he does and he just isn’t super duper excited to have to dip into them? He wants to save the savings.

When he gets his back pay he simply returns it to savings. :dunno:

Unfortunately there are a whole bunch of people living pay check to pay check.

Ohhhh when you didn't get paid for that time did you go into work every day? Did you go to work at 7am from your hotel and stay until 10pm last night and not get a paycheck?

I'm here working d!cks... pay me.

No, I didn't go to work at 7 AM and stay until 10 PM. i worked 24/7 taking care of my mother who was dying from lung cancer and needed help to do just about everything, including take a piss or sh*t. So fock you.

Strike, you don’t care because it’s Trump at the head of the mess. If it were not him you would be on the picket lines yourself holding up a sign and torching buildings. You work, you should get paid, simplest concept and inarguable. Not debatable.

It sucks that your paycheck has to be a pawn in this political game. I know it's a technicality, but the Feds should have a provision to actually pay those who are still showing up and working. You and others who are actually on the job shouldn't be lumped in with the non essential folks who've been furloughed.

Reverse TDS. Trump could pass a law saying his supporters take a 90% pay cut and they would still spin it like a good thing.

Theres no spinning Americans working and not getting paid. Its indefensible and has cost him any chance of reelection imo. I also agree with Vudu, there should be something in place. Shutdowns have happened before. Not this length, this is record setting, but they do happen.

Whatever dude... this has nothing to do with your Mom, may she rest in peace. That's something you chose to do, of your own volition to help your Mom out and spend as much time with her as you could towards the end.

This situation is fockstiks in dc can't get their sh!t together and are using us as political pawns to try to get their way. We have nothing to do with their fight.

Something I chose to do? You're looking like a bigger fockstick with each post you make in this thread. You should probably just stop.

You know what you "chose to do?" You took a job where you knew, or should have known, that this could happen. If you weren't happy with that understanding you could have quit and went in to a different line of work.

I disagree strike. The government or your employer didn't force you to leave work or stay at work while not getting paid.

Not the same thing.

Beer, are you at a point where you'd tell the D's to pass the budget with the provisions for the wall in it, or would you tell them to hold out?

He does. Hes not thrilled to be burning through them while waiting to go back to work. It definitely doesnt look like a vacation.

Is he allowed to work elsewhere for the time being, or would that prevent him from collecting unpaid comp when the budget is passed?

I didnt ask. Im not sure there are short term gigs out there in his field. He did tell me theres a widespread assumption they will all get back pay but thats not guaranteed.

I think I had stated this earlier in here... and the D's have already done this, but fund the departments that have noth oj ng to do with the wall. Fund the gov we already have in place... fught for new monies on your own time.

Anyway... whatever I'm just venting. It sucks for me, be I have some younger people working for me that this is really causing a bad hardship. Like a single girl taking care of her sister and kids. Young cops with families... they are out putting their lives on the line... not getting a paycheck for it right now.

It really sucks for them... I'll survive. We've got folks really in a bind at those lower paygrades.
