Add high fencing, barb wire, metal detectors, watch towers, bomb sniffing dogs, armed teachers, body scanners, maybe a moat with alligators, and a draw bridge. That should do it. Put a couple armed guards in every school. When the shooters figure out which entrances the guards aren't at, put armed guards at every entrance. When someone manages to sneak a gun into class and shoot people, put metal detectors at every entrance. When someone figures a way around that, arm all the teachers. If the armed teachers don't stop shootings, maybe we can train and arm some of the more trustworthy kids.

Honestly, one of the things I've been saying on here for years now is I don't know how much longer we're actually going to have brick-and-mortar public schools. They're a failure across the board. Something like this and the 300 other ones exactly like this? They just accelerate the process.

 

Everyday, you see more and more online options. And, kids are different than they were 20 years ago. You wouldn't think of leaving your 10 year old Home Alone, but now maybe it's safer than risking a school shooting. Even though statistically it's not.

 

But you couple this with the increasing number of parents who telecommute and maybe that's our new solution.

 

Add in, those people who contribute the least to the economy are bitching and moaning that they deserve equal facilities and equal capabilities for their childrens schools. And liberals fall right in line for that. And, there just isn't enough of an economic base to go around.

Big picture thoughts....

 

The pro gun side is firm on not giving any ground whatsoever on anything, and they succeed by convincing their supporters that any ground given is the first step in taking away all of your guns. In short, they've emotionally made it an all or nothing issue for gun supporters and that is forcing more gun control types to argue it from that perspective.............. I personally think this is a lack of recognizing the direction of the tide. I'm oversimplifying, but pro gun people are born, whereas gun control people are born but also created with each of these type incidents.

 

So for the pro-gun side, what is the plan? Currently you have the edge, so you've turned this into an all or nothing policy debate and haven't had to take any significant hits whatsoever. But once the majority shifts to the Nothing side, is the plan to then hope those that want to ban guns will negotiate differently with their edge, and thus agree to a middle ground? Does that seem likely based on our current political landscape and the culture war that seems destined to divide our country?
