The only surprising thing about this is it took them this long to come up with it.

At some point they prolly implement a personal CO2 emission tax for exhaling.

They also want to pass a "right" to shelter for homeless people, guaranteeing them a bed.

https://thehill.com/homenews/state-watch/420228-proposed-california-bill-would-guarantee-a-bed-for-every-homeless-person

This is what happens when one party has a supermajority in the legislature, whether at the state level or federal level.

I think this is a good thing for the country. People on the right in CA will start moving to other states and thus increasing the chances of more right leaning politicians into the Federal landscape and making sure that the shathole that CA is, doesn't flood into neighboring states. I say, screw building the wall along the Mexican border... build one around CA and put in a super highway from Mexico into California.

California has been losing more people than it gains for a long time:

Unfortunately the fruit cake Lefties are moving to other states too, bringing their flawed ideology with them. Arizona is a good example, it will be blue within the decade. It is close now.

Well that sucks. We were looking at AZ as a relocation destination. :(

Not just Oregon. Idaho, Nevada, Texas... They all complain about people relocating from California and focking up their states. I guess we can add Arizona to the list too.

These people fock up the state they live in with their focked up mentality, then, when the policies they voted for turn out to be sh!t, they leave and push for the same focked up policies wherever they end up. It's a retard virus and it's spreading.

Arizona is gone. The combination of college educations by leftist colleges/universities and immigrants from shitholes will be our downfall.

We are still a year or two out. The plan is to move by 50. Turned 48 yesterday. We are trying to pay down the house as much as possible so we can walk with enough cash to buy something outright. Otherwise we would've already left this godforsaken hellhole.

Colorado is the pinnacle example. Colorado use to be an awesome middle of the road, do what you want just don't mess with me State. Now they are basically California East.

If Dems take back the Senate in the next election don't be surprised if you see similar type taxes in Minnesota. The twin city folks love them some taxes.

Punishing landlords for keeping units empty – it could be on the LA ballot in 2020.

Four city councilmembers are asking city staff to explore ways to fine property owners who keep units vacant. They’re worried that empty apartments are making the housing crisis worse. They would use the revenue to build more affordable housing.

I'm sure Seattle will follow this example shortly.

The Seattle City Council is so retarded they keep raising property taxes to "solve the affordable housing crisis" and then are shocked and outraged when landlords pass the increased tax burden onto renters in the form of higher rents.  Anyone with half a brain would realize that is exactly what will happen.

I guess virtue signaling prevents one from taking a moment to consider the obvious consequences of your feel good actions.

This is what happens when you put bleeding heart libs/socialists in charge. Run out of money? Just heap more taxes on those working; it's not like they'll move away.

Why should America surrender a ton of prime real estate like that?

For a while I was researching Idaho (mostly around Boise) and watching this realtor lady's YouTube videos specifically made for potential relocators (she relocated there herself). She talked a fair amount about the attitudes toward Californians. What I gather is that well off liberal-leaners who want to have a better home than their CA money can buy, and an overall more affordable COL, have moved there. What attracts them to the state is a product of governance against their own idealogy. More conservative or libertarian Californians are attracted too, but people will be (understandably) wary of us by default. I have to say, although lots of Idaho is beautiful for most of the year, it still would have been hard to part with CA on that note. It's very conflicting for me personally. Some of my family consistently entertains it, and I do wonder if a mentality difference would wind up outweighing the pros of living near places like Tahoe, Point Reyes National Seashore (Marin Co.), Napa/Sonoma, the motherlode (gold rush foothills), redwoods, etc. BUT then if we're slowly ruining these other states, maybe it would be buying an ultimately negligible amount of time.

Governments largely financed themselves via tariffs in the 18th century.  Conventional thinking emerged that tariffs were bad because they encouraged nations to blame other nations for their problems which helped lead to wars.  That is when governments turned to taxing its own citizens for money as alternative in the early 20th century.  The problem with taxes, however, is that they encourage nations to blame subsections of their own population for their problems in order to justify taxing them.  This coarsens discourse within a nation and begins to divide the public against itself and helps lead to civil war.

We can see this effect in America.  The US passed the 16th amendment in 1909 to make income tax legal.  Shortly thereafter, America won TWO world wars which boosted morale and unified the nation.  But after that, morale and unification has been slowly eroding away.  Leaders specifically began blaming anyone with disposable income for problems facing the nation and began to tax them to get money.  Today, the nation is basically split in half.  It took around 50 years to completely undo the good will of winning two world wars but we finally got there.

Why all of this effort to make white people feel guilty? Because white people have most of the money.  I would bet you anything that if most white people had little money, there would be ZERO effort to teach kids in schools about how colonialism is bad or the plight of the native americans or about segregation.  All of it traces right back to getting paid.

Advanced toilet metering infrastructure. If the people don't follow a new law that states, "If it's yellow, let it mellow. If it's brown flush it down.", then they will have a additional yellow flush tax on top of the normal flush tax.

You're not going to find the variety of geographical beauty that is California anywhere. Your best bet is to decide which part of California (coast, foothills, mountains, desert...) fits you the best and choose a location that best represents that aspect of California.

That is no easy task, I know. I'm a lifelong Bay Area Californian. The thought of giving up most of what I love about this state sucks. The thought of staying here while the dems fock it up wosre sucks even more.

I can always come back to visit.

We've looked all over. If we had our druthers we'd be on a beach somewhere. Florida and the Carolinas were considered but both our families are here in California and I'm not big on flying.

My wife won't do snow, so Northern Idaho and Montana are out of the question.

We've pretty much settled on Northern Arizona at this point. We live in Brentwood (norcal) so we are used to summer temps in the triple digits. We'd be close enough to drive to visit family and friends (and Vegas). We can get more bang for our buck home wise as well. Plus AZ is 2A friendly, which is important to me.

Oddly enough, the desert aspect of California is my least favorite. All things considered, looks like that's where I'll end up though. :dunno:

A miles driven tax is certainly headed oir way. The gas tax is antiquated and will be obsolete soon enough. They will raise it to the max to get the gasolone stragglers (in the name of the environment of course) then move on to the electric people. First a law to force electric car companies to sell data about your driving habits. Then the states will use that to bill you by the mile driven in that state. Will happen.

Taxman

George Harrison

Let me tell you how it will be
There's one for you, nineteen for me
'Cause I'm the taxman, yeah, I'm the taxman

Should five per cent appear too small
Be thankful I don't take it all
'Cause I'm the taxman, yeah I'm the taxman

If you drive a car, I'll tax the street,
If you try to sit, I'll tax your seat.
If you get too cold I'll tax the heat,
If you take a walk, I'll tax your feet.

Don't ask me what I want it for
If you don't want to pay some more
'Cause I'm the taxman, yeah, I'm the taxman

Now my advice for those who die
Declare the pennies on your eyes
'Cause I'm the taxman, yeah, I'm the taxman
And you're working for no one but me.
