Kyrie requested a trade from the Cavs

Recommended Posts

Reportedly doesn't want to live in Lebron's shadow and wants to be te focal point of a team. Seems to be an odd career move since Bron pretty much guarantees a trip to the Finals for the next 2-3 years and no team built around Kyrie is going anywhere.

:dunno:

Kinda old news. Didn't this happen last week? Either way Lebron is prob on his way out of Cleveland too

I think it is odd because I think Lebron moves on after next season. Can be KIs team in 2018/2019

Will Cleveland fans burn Lebron jerseys again? Then kiss his ass again if it looks like he might come back?

definitely old news. been a hot topic for 2-3 days.

At this point, the Cavs are not beating the Warriors. Lebron may very well bolt for LA after this year with the new mess Gilbert has created. Free agents barely want to come to Cleveland as is, why would they want to come with NO Lebron? So, Why would Kyrie want to stay? If he can find his way to the Wolves to play with Butler and Towns, that's a team on the rise, where as Cleveland is not. Even going to the Knicks if they can keep Porzingas in the deal lets him go home and stay in the weaker East. Spurs would also be another nice fit with Leonard and Aldridge.

it can be Kyries team with no hope of any free agents going to the Dan Gilbert owned, Lebron-less Cavs.

He'd be smart to get out now and either go home or to an up and coming team. If he wan'ts HIS team, at least go to the Knicks. Wanting to get out of Lebron's shadow sounds very much like when Marbury wanted out of KG's shadow. He was never as good as he was playing with Garnett and he ruined a very good duo to go off on his own. At least with Kyrie wanting out of lebron's shadow, there is a chance Lebron leaves again anyway.

.... and the cavs offense does not play to kayrie's strength.

remind me which teams he wants to go to: knicks, t-wolves, spurs, heat? is that right? if he is chasing titles and he wants to go west it has to be spurs. he is better off staying in the east

Cleveland will get scraps for him.

I'd let him sit and stew for two years before I did that

Maybe old news but I was surprised there's no thread on it. Even more surprised anyone would want to play for the Knicks.

There are lots of rumors but to me Kyrie, JR Smith and Channing Frye would be the package.

Maybe for Eric Bledsoe and Devin Booker and a pick

I'm not sure whether to respect him or loathe him for this.

I mean, you're on a perennial title contender. As difficult as the GM sh1t and Lebron's shadow and all that may be. Players wait their whole careers to be in that position.

On the other hand, he's got it made but he still isn't satisfied living in someone else's shadow. You gotta respect that at least a little bit.

In the end I think the scales lean toward him being a b1tch. He's sure as fock got a lot to prove in his next landing spot.

LeBron is signed for one more year. If he leaves, they are a 6-8 seed at best. Kyrie is sick of being held hostage by LeBron.

Or he is a b!tch. Either way, they aren't ever beating Golden State in a series.

Doesn't make much since on Kyrie's part right now but, LeBron is out next year anyway. Cleveland is a sinking ship and he doesn't want to be stuck there.

only they are not a perennial contender. Lebron may be gone and is on the downside anyway. I'd get out while I can with the way the NBA landscape is these days.

Spurs and T-Wolves give you the ability to contend in the West.

Knicks give you the hometown life and you may have a better shot at someone else coming to NY to play with Kyrie and KP than you will having anyone come to s-hole Cleveland.

No way the Suns do that. While Kyrie miiiight be the best player in that deal, they LOVE Devin Booker. JR Smith can be a headcase and Channing Frye is, well, Channing Frye. No way they are also sending over Bledsoe AND a pick.

I know Cleveland and Boston are rivals for the moment, but that's the trade. Something like this with Boston being forced to add in that next Brooklyn pick also. http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ya3jxeyg

Boston has been gathering assets wanting a superstar. I think Kyrie qualifies, and he is only 25 years old. If Boston passes on this one, they may wait another 3-5 years and miss their window. With a trade somewhat like the one I linked, my thoughts are:

Why does Cleveland do it? Thomas = very little short term scoring dropoff, and he may be better as a #2 option. Crowder and Smart add young depth. A likely top 3 pick next year gives Cleveland another chance at a star. It's the type of reload that possibly keeps Lebron and Thomas around (if there is any legitimate chance of that), and if they leave you are in solid shape still.

Why does Boston do it? I think Irving is an alpha. I think Hayward is a perfect #2. Then you still have huge potential with Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum. The oldest is Hayward at 27 years old. Ready to roll for a decade.

I think it makes both teams better.

Starting to make more sense now:

Kyrie Irving Demanded Trade After Discovering LeBron Wanted Cavs To Trade Him For Chris Paul Following 2016 Title

http://www.chatsports.com/cleveland-cavaliers/a/kyrie-irving-demanded-trade-after-discovering-lebron-wanted-cavs-trade-him-following-2016-title-34735

If true, absurd on LeBron's part, especially coming off a championship where they weren't winning without Kyrie's contributions.

This trade was for Chris Paul (who I really like). Just seedy on LeBron's part either way, you are coming off a ring and you are trying move a guy?

Doesn't look good, Kyrie has every right to be upset and want out.. If true of course.

this is one of the more sensible posts you've ever made. 2 thumbs up

unfortunately Boston traded Avery Bradley who was a big key to that team.

Also, even though in todays NBA contract landscape it probably makes sense, I don't think Wiggins is worth the max deal he is supposedly asking for. Then again, how many players really are but there are so many overpaid.

According to a report from Joe Vardon, a deal with the Phoenix Suns actually could have been agreed to already if the Suns were willing to give up Eric Bledsoe, Josh Jackson, and a first-round pick.

this seems more believable to me for Phoenix than giving Devin Booker. He is way too talented.

I don't pat my back too often....possibly because I'm never right about anything.....but I nailed this one based on what we are seeing.

I wouldn't like the move if i was a boston fan.

Kyrie and Howard are not getting you past James and Thomas et all.

Cleveland just took a step back. This pick is great but, everybody knows LeBron is gone after next year.

Isaiah makes no difference in a GS final.

Wow big steal for the Celts.

Although I'm a little surprised they would shake things up this much for a possible malcontent.

Still, they needed more top-shelf talent and now they've got it

Okay, now that the trade has soaked in, I'm okay with it for the Cavs. Here's why:

1. The 2018 Nets First Round Draft pick is pretty big. It may even be the #1 pick. And with Marvin Bagley now eligible for that draft and Michael Porter in that draft, they may get the "next" big thing. Analysts say both are studs.

2. Jae Crowder is a good on ball defender and can knock down open shots. Both skills help against the Golden State Warriors.

3. While Kyrie Irving is the overall better player, Isaiah is a better off the ball player than Kyrie. And with LeBron facilitating a lot with the ball this is a net positive. As good as Kyrie was, he would go stretches where he was a black hole with the basketball.

4. Most importantly the fact that Kyrie pulled the "trade me" move, it really put the Cavs in a predicament. They had little leverage and even though I would have preferred a (Josh Jackson / Bledsoe) or a (Isaiah Thomas / Jason Tatum) combo, this was probably the max the Cavs could get given the situation of little leverage.

Boston gets better though too.

You and I must have a different definition of top shelf talent.
