If basher al Assad and Maduro both died in a duel at 50 paces I would smile.

I fully support the USA not supporting a wannabe dictator. Can't we all agree here? :dunno:

Thought you liked Trump?

Spent my 29th birthday in a mountain stream in the jungles of Venezuela. That was almost 22 years ago. We were on one of the last US cruise ships to make a port of call there. It was a shithole then. Can only imagine how bad it is now.

I read a story on this and it told me who the elected leader was and who the opposition leader we are recognizing is....but it didnt really tell me the backstory as to why their is opposition, why the election was or wasnt legit, or why we are picking the guy we are picking.

So whats the story? Is this a consensus right move or is it something Americans will debate?

Putin and Mexico support the Maduro guy who has led them from solid second world country to complete shithole third world country in 5 short years.

Brazil, Britain, and Trump support the new guy.

I don't think there was a general election, their equivalent of Congress voted the new guy in, which is legal according to whatever their version of a Constitution is.

Source: read it on the internet, so take it as gospel

That would be the least of their worries at this time.

Their dizzying inflation rate is causing a max exodus of people to the point where the erosion of skilled labor is starting to really impact just everything. On the ground the people are starting to turn to some macabre activities just to eat.

Hugo Chavez promises universal medical care

When Hugo Chavez came to power in Venezuela in 1998, he promised health care for all. In 1999, he got it written into the Constitution, which stated: "Health is a fundamental social right, an obligation of the State

Chavez also promised to make wealth more equal, overcome poverty and mandate higher wages. He made initial progress in expanding medical care and reducing poverty, which was praised by Americans from Sean Penn to Michael Moore.

However, the success was short-lived. Experts say it was based on using existing wealth rather than creating new wealth.

He took from the private sector that existed, and enjoyed buoyant oil prices, to buy off the electorate, said Fergus Hodgson, executive editor of Antigua Report, a Latin American business consulting agency.

By 2018, the Venezuelan health system was a disaster. Hospitals were out of basic medicine, and also without food for children who were starving due to extreme poverty.

Medical care and the economy itself have since fallen into shambles under Chavez successor Nicolas Maduro, sparking widespread protests. The turmoil intensified this week as numerous countries, including the U.S., recognized opposition leader Juan Guaido as interim president -- and Maduro responded by saying he's cutting off relations with the U.S.

So if Trump supports the new guy, who do the democrats support? And more importantly, how can they blame this on Trump?

The dems will support whoever Trump doesn't. Same reason why dems support MS-13 and terrorist groups.

(D) Joe Crowley said that its disgusting that Trump would want to get rid of MS-13, and that MS-13 are humans also, and they are entitled to operate as they see fit, just as Trump believes he is entitled as he sees fit.

So don't ask who the Dems will support. Its the opposite of who Trump supports.

.

So, I just had to unpack that one. please do show me the quote where he says what you've typed in the quote above. Because here's what I found.

"REP. CROWLEY: He does. That's also unfortunate, because what hes doing, look, we can all agree, to suggest that Nancy Pelosi or any of us do not want to rid our society of MS-13 or any gangs, whether it be foreign born or domestic born, is absolutely outrageous. Outrageous. But he also, with that same brush, paints all immigrants as animals."

Jesus, how can you guys just swallow propaganda Hook line & sinker without even trying to source of yourself?

I mean, stand back for 2 seconds. Does that even pass the sniff test? Would any politician say what you typed?

Clearly Trump doesn't paint all immigrants as animals but that doesn't stop the dunderheads from believing he does. Which morphs into Trump's a racist, which morphs into Trump supporters are all racists, which morphs into MAGA hats are the new clan hood...

People don't have time for sniff tests anymore, they simply believe what they want to believe.

If you add up every place I ever worked at in my career as a pipefitter and figured the one place I worked the most, it would by far be the Citgo refinery in IL, owned by the Venezuelan gov aka Hugo Chavez. It's weird being so tied to a company owned by Ven.
