Alabama fan shoots Auburn fan over which team is better

An argument between an Alabama and Auburn fan Monday over which team is better escalated to the point of gunfire, Mobile (Alabama) Police said.

 

According to police, the Alabama fan shot the Auburn fan outside of an Extenda Suites motel around 7 p.m. on Monday.

 

"The male subject got mad, pulled out a firearm and struck the victim in the thigh and fled," the police report said.

 

The victim's condition and the shooter's whereabouts were unknown as of Thursday afternoon.

 

No. 1 Alabama and No. 6 Auburn are set to play in the rivalry game known as the Iron Bowl on Nov. 25.

 

The winner will move on to play in the SEC championship game the following weekend and with a win could find itself with a spot in the College Football Playoff.

A few years ago, a female Alabama fan shot another Alabama fan for not being upset enough about losing to Auburn.

 

 

Pat Dye, a former Auburn coach, once said something like this about the Iron Bowl:

My wife is from Buttscrew, Alabama. One thing I've learned from visiting in-laws in that EVERYONE in that state is an Alabama fan, regardless if they went to school there or know anyone who did. Auburn fans actually went to the school.

He did time and is now a sex offender. The DA in Baton Rouge went after him, even though it was out of his jurisdiction.

Once when I was in Knoxville for a ut Florida game (back in the late 90s when such a game was relevant) I saw some guy in a blue and orange Florida pimp car drive down the strip on game day.

Agree with the poster who talked about how people are fans even if they have absolutely no affiliation with the school. I will never understand that. I can barely give a s*** about my own College. Much less give a s*** about a program that I have absolutely no affiliation with.

 

Generally, it's the states that have nothing else that go so severely 8shit over college football. Nebraska is the same way. Just not usually as violent.

 

These are the same people who are actually struggling with whether or not to elect Roy Moore.

Im a university of Tennessee fan, and didnt go to school there.

 

College football is king in the south. When I was coming up, there was no nfl or nba team.

 

So I became a UT fan. When it came time to pick a school, I chose elsewhere for various reasons. But people sometimes give me sh!t for being a fan of a team I didnt go to.

 

I dont get that. I have zero affiliation for any particular NFL franchise, and still picked one. Whats the difference?
