Despite losing to the Patriots Sunday night, the city of Seattle has said it’s preparing to celebrate the Seahawks’ season. On Monday morning, a spokesman for Mayor Ed Murray’s office said the city would wait to follow the Seahawks’ lead as they made celebration preparations. The Seattle Seahawks are scheduled to arrive at Sea-Tac Airport at 3:30 p.m. There will not be access for fans at the airport terminal. Due to safety concerns, the Seahawks team buses will not be taking 188th Street where fans gave them a big send-off last week.

On Sunday, Mayor Murray released the following statement: “The Seahawks are a class act. While tonight’s outcome was heartbreaking, the team played with tremendous heart and guts to the very end. They never quit. Even when others were ready to count them out, whether early in the season or during their playoff run, the Hawks and the 12s always believed. All of Seattle is proud of everything they accomplished this year and I know we’ll be back next year.”

Last year, an estimated 700,000 people flooded downtown Seattle as the Seahawks rode through the streets on military vehicles before converging on CenturyLink Field for a large rally.

They canceled everything. I was supposed to head there today and I have a friend who is a King County sheriff. He said that he did not have to work any parades or gatherings.

Heck - even New England postponed our parade due to snow. :o
