Protests In Paris

Recommended Posts

About 8,000 police officers were on the ground in Paris – nearly twice as many as last week. They made hundreds of preventative arrests, following orders to engage with and remove violent demonstrators instead of avoiding direct confrontation as they did last week, NPR's Eleanor Beardsley reported.

Near the Arc de Triomphe, police fired

to push back demonstrators. Instead of retreating, protesters moved closer once the smoke cleared, and the scent of tear gas wafted through the streets.

OMFG!! They used tear gas......oh the horror!!! Has CNN started round the clock coverage with a panel accusing the French president of everything under the sun yet?

what are they protesting?

Mismanagament that always arises from socialism. The President has to tax the fock out of the people who actually have and make money to pay for the insane handouts to others. Socialism always ends in violence, and before it does, plenty of dead....

This is the one thing that those who push for Socialism always leave out. Socialism has a body count so high nothing even comes close to the amount of dead people it has produced.

The world needs a Bane moment.

We take Gotham from the corrupt! The rich! The oppressors of generations who have kept you down with myths of opportunity, and we give it back to you... the people. Gotham is yours. None shall interfere. Do as you please. Start by storming Blackgate, and freeing the oppressed! Step forward those who would serve. For and army will be raised. The powerful will be ripped from their decadent nests, and cast out into the cold world that we know and endure. Courts will be convened. Spoils will be enjoyed. Blood will be shed. The police will survive, as they learn to serve true justice. This great city... it will endure. Gotham will survive!

I read that the gasoline was outrageously taxed making it hard for rural people to travel to their jobs in town.

Macron himself, the central target of the protests, has been largely invisible all week. After winning election overwhelmingly last year, the 40-year-old pro-business centrist alienated many of his own voters with tax cuts for the rich and other badly explained reforms - and what many see as his elitist, out-of-touch attitude.

If you're just a normal French citizen, your government hasn't been doing much right for you lately. From importing wild beasts that refuse to conform, and suck up public assistance, to this latest ill advised tax hike, can you say you blame them?

They could finally use their WW II guns. They were never fired and only dropped once.

France to Germany:

"Please don't bomb our Eiffel tower. Here, take our land, take our people, take our freedom, but please, don't hurt our tall gift shop. And then you can go lay waste to England without us interfering. Vive la Germany."

And there is the difference between France and America, we allow our demonstrators to resort to rioting and looting without consequence.

When the 2nd amendment was created, guns shot 1 bullet every 30 seconds.

The reason the second amendment was created is more important today than it was 240 years ago. HTH

It is not the guns fault!

When the 1st & 4th amendment were created, there were no emails, messengers, social media, internet...is your freedom of speech still protected and is the government allowed illegally search them?

The government had already said that it would delay planned fuel tax increases for six months but then later went further by dropping them from the 2019 budget altogether. Still, that has failed to halt protests. In the fourth weekend of demonstrations on Saturday, around 125,000 were estimated to have protested around France.

It will be interesting to see how this unfolds, just how much Macron does cave in, just how the people will react to anything he does from this point.

We are seeing riots by people who want something for nothing.

They support the Socialist Policies but they dont want to pay for them.

"The trouble with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money,"

- Margaret Thatcher

Opposition political leaders have actually called for increased taxes on the wealthy, while demonstrators have taken to the streets against rising costs, as theyve seen some of their social support curbed by the government.

.

.

.

However, French residents told Newsweek that the suggestions were laughable, as there were signs lining roads calling Macron a capitalist pig. Demonstrators are also calling for higher taxes on the rich and to redistribute wealth in the country, they said.

I dunno. If we look back at the baby boomers in the 60's and 70's they were some seriously whining little b!tches too, but they eventually understood that you have to grow up and get a job, be responsible etc....and then they became the greedy little sh!ts we saw in the 80's and 90's.

There is some notion that even the bleeding gashes we have right now could eventually achieve some level of aptitude and value.

This is why you don't give up on the 2nd Ammendment...

So are you advocating violence against police? Am I missing the point? I believe you are implying the reason we need to protect the second amendment and keep our guns is in case the police get to physical and we can fight back. Did I misread that?

Millennials are a little too sensitive, opinionated, and conscientious. But I think the lazy label is bit overblown. I'd say its more a byproduct of being disenfranchised.

Yeah I agree to a point. You can't just get any degree and get paid but college is still the best way to get paid. Gone are the days of any 4 year degree landing you a good job. But a 4 year degree in nursing, pharmacy, accounting, business management, engineering, and a few others will get you paid a living wage starting right out of school. Some, like nursing or a pharmacist, will get you 5-6k a month or more right out of school.

The French police agree with the protesters. That's why Macron wants a European Army.
