How do you rank the big 4.

 

1. Parmesan (always)

2. Granulated garlic (always if available)

3. Red Pepper flakes (usually)

4. Oregano (sometimes)

 

Don't bother mentioning others, these are the only real choices.

I've never even seen granulated garlic on a table down here. :dunno:

Can't stand red pepper flakes. Not only do you have to pretty much bite and suck on the damn things just to get any flavor just wait till you get one of those flakes stuck in the back of your throat and you're gagging like you've been pepper sprayed.

 

Fresh jalapenos on the pie or on the side. Bunch of black pepper on the pizza.

I'll put parmesan if the pizza is short of cheesy flavor.

Put me in the camp of never seeing granulated garlic.

Same for oregano that I can recall. But sure, oregano is good I guess.

Red pepper flakes suck.

 

I will occasionally dip the crust into blue cheese or ranch dressing.

next to basil, oregano is my favorite herb for pizza.

 

the places we usually dine in for pizza do not have the add ons on the table. when we have it delivered, usually they provide all but oregano... i will add my own dry oregano. depending on what we order, i sometimes add truffle oil.

i don't throw it on everything. i sometimes use truffle oil on pizza, pastas, risottos, mashed potatoes, fries

3. Red Pepper flakes (usually) always

4. Oregano (sometimes) if available- will not look for it

this is a little local place near my parents house. my favorite is the bruce with oregano. just an awesome combo i have not tasted anywhere else.

this is another great local place.

 

 

edit: a favorite of the whole family is either sausage or salami, mushroom with marinara and a little pesto mixed in. daughter first liked it at giorgios.

they come out whole in the morning too.

I think the only time that I can remember honestly making my dad laugh out loud myself was when we went to this local Deli and got a pizza to split.

 

The parmesan came in one of those heavy glass containers like you'd used to see in all the pizza places.

 

Of course, so did the sugar.

 

The look on my face after biting into it was enough to make my dad laugh out loud and chuckle the rest of the night. More than worth it.
