Throw Peyton on that list.

As I recall he was passed over for Leaf so he couldnt have been that highly regarded.

Colts took Manning at #1 in 1998. Leaf went #2 to the Chargers.

ESPN was in its infancy and twas the days before Twitter, blogs, cell phones, iPads, and cell phones. Had it not been, Elway would of been P. Manning x20 - I remember well, the hype was insane. Peyton would definitely be #2 - with Luck in the mix too. Leinhart was pretty hyped as well.

Notre Dame and their hype Machine were going hard for Mirer, but he still wasn't the 1st QB taken.

The Heisman that year was intercepted by Charles Woodson. 1st/last defensive player to get it. (Some two-way guys back in the days when that was common as well).

Tim Tebow :dunno:

Especially if you take Peter King into account. The only person King has devoted more words to is Brett Favre......and maybe Tom Brady.

Agreed. Elway talk was everywhere and that was without twitter or fantasy football.

He would've skipped his playing career and gone straight into the hall of fame had that stuff been around then.

7 HOFs came out of the '83 draft - that was one hell of a class.
