Seriously can I ?

Yeah sure, unless somebody else objects.

This has all the appearances of a one-off special case thing.

shotsup's head clearly isn't in it lately. (In case you missed the other thread, his closest friend just died)

Guns and Roses Metallica is his fourth band. I should put them in Wildcard but considering the circumstances, as a courtesy, I'll toss Metallica back in as well. This, plus getting skipped plus dropping DeNiro gives him three makeup picks for when he gets his head screwed back on properly.

Thanks Volty - I mentioned top of this pages I messed up already having 3 bands. You can put Metallica back into free agent pool. And post before this Al Pacino for Deniro.

56.2. Fred Rogers TV Personality

I sat in church on Sunday listening to our pastor talk about being better neighbors, the Good Samaritan and Fred Rogers.

When it was over, my wife and I met up with our sons and talked about what wed heard and learned about.

I never watched Mr Rogers when I was young but my wife said she watched it all the time. Id always dismissed him as a weak, wimpy, half a fayg.

My wife is truly the nicest person Ive ever met in my life, so it makes sense that she was/is a fan of his show.

When we got home, I watched a trailer for the biopic that was recently released, then did a little more research.

I thought a lot about how I teach my boys to be tough and not take sh!t from others. I love watching them play ball, dominate in sports and all tough and tumble boy type stuff.

I also teach them not to take their education lightly and to make sure they strive to get good grades and test scores.

At the end of the night, I brought them in to watch the movie clip and some highlights from his shows. When it was over I told them that even though I try to teach them those other things so that they will grow up to be strong men, I would be proud if either or both of them grew up to be anything like Fred Rogers.

Being kind to others still has a place in this world. Wed all do well to take a few cues from Mr Rogers.

Its a beautiful day in the neighborhood geeks. Just look outside.

Since it is the anniversary of his execution, what better time than now to pick...

56.3 - Timothy McVeigh - Criminal

Timothy James McVeigh (April 23, 1968 – June 11, 2001) was an American domestic terrorist who perpetrated the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, which killed 168 people and injured over 680 others. The bombing was the deadliest act of terrorism within the United States prior to the September 11 attacks, and remains the deadliest act of domestic terrorism in United States history.
McVeigh, a Gulf War veteran, sought revenge against the federal government for the 1993 Waco siege, which ended in the deaths of 86 people—many of whom were children—exactly two years before the bombing; the 1992 Ruby Ridge incident; and the United States' foreign policy. McVeigh hoped to inspire a revolt against the federal government, and defended the bombing as a legitimate tactic against what he saw as a tyrannical federal government. He was arrested shortly after the bombing and indicted for eleven federal offenses, including the use of a weapon of mass destruction. He was found guilty on all counts in 1997 and sentenced to death.
McVeigh was executed by lethal injection on June 11, 2001, at the Federal Correctional Complex in Terre Haute, Indiana. His execution was carried out in a considerably shorter time than most inmates awaiting the death penalty; most convicts on death row in the United States spend an average of fifteen years there.

56.05 - Ted Kennedy - Congress

Kennedy was known for his oratorical skills. His 1968 eulogy for his brother Robert and his 1980 rallying cry for modern American liberalism were among his best-known speeches. He became recognized as "The Lion of the Senate" through his long tenure and influence. Kennedy and his staff wrote more than 300 bills that were enacted into law. Unabashedly liberal, Kennedy championed an interventionist government that emphasized economic and social justice, but he was also known for working with Republicans to find compromises among senators with disparate views. As such, Kennedy played a major role in passing many laws, including the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965, the National Cancer Act of 1971, the COBRA health insurance provision, the Comprehensive Anti-Apartheid Act of 1986, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, the Ryan White AIDS Care Act, the Civil Rights Act of 1991, the Mental Health Parity Act, the S-CHIP children's health program, the No Child Left Behind Act, and the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act. During the 2000s, he led several unsuccessful immigration reform efforts. Over the course of his Senate career and continuing into the Barack Obama administration, Kennedy continued his efforts to enact universal health care, which he called the "cause of my life."

By the later years of his life, Kennedy had come to be viewed as a major figure and spokesman for American progressivism

With the funeral and the mourning and all, shotsup has granted us permission to skip him for the near future.

So, it's shotsup's turn. RHR may go if he chooses or maybe give it a bit.

I scanned the the list numerous times and did not see him listed. I thought for sure he'd already be picked in another category- if I overlooked it I apologize in advance.

No, he'd not been picked. I'd had him in my head as potential candidate Other Performing Artist at one point and may have looked his way for Wildcard.

56.8 Sun Yat Sen - Wildcard

Sun Yat-sen (/ˈsʊn ˈjɑːtˈsɛn/; 12 November 1866 – 12 March 1925)[1][2] was a Chinese physician, writer, philosopher, calligrapher[3]and revolutionary, the first provisional president and founding father of the Republic of China. As the foremost pioneer and first leader of a Republican China, Sun is referred to as the "Father of the Nation" in the Republic of China (ROC) and the "forerunner of democratic revolution" in the People's Republic of China (PRC). Sun played an instrumental role in the overthrow of the Qing dynasty (the last imperial dynasty of China) during the years leading up to the Xinhai Revolution. He was appointed to serve as Provisional President of the Republic of China when it was founded in 1912. He later co-founded the Kuomintang (Nationalist Party of China), serving as its first leader.[4] Sun was a uniting figure in post-Imperial China, and he remains unique among 20th-century Chinese politicians for being widely revered amongst the people from both sides of the Taiwan Strait.

Although Sun is considered to be one of the greatest leaders of modern China, his political life was one of constant struggle and frequent exile. After the success of the revolution and the Han Chinese regaining power after 268 years of living under Manchurian rule (Qing dynasty), he quickly resigned from his post as President of the newly founded Republic of China to Yuan Shikai, and led successive revolutionary governments as a challenge to the warlords who controlled much of the nation. Sun did not live to see his party consolidate its power over the country during the Northern Expedition. His party, which formed a fragile alliance with the Communists, split into two factions after his death.

Sun's chief legacy resides in his developing of the political philosophy known as the Three Principles of the People: nationalism (Han Chinese nationalism: independence from imperialist domination – taking back power from the Manchurian Qing dynasty), democracy,[5]and the people's livelihood (just society).[6][7]

1. Hardly murder. Manslaughter sure.

2. I struggle with this whole category. I can think of any worthy of respect, much less admiration.

Volty - I am trying to figure out how some Chinaman is eligible?

Sun Yat-sen obtained a Certificate of Hawaiian Birth, issued by the Territory of Hawaii, stating that "he was born in the Hawaiian Islands on the 24th day of November, A.D. 1870."[57][58] He renounced it after it served its purpose to circumvent the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882.[58] Official files of the United States show that Sun had United States nationality, moved to China with his family at age 4, and returned to Hawaii 10 years later.[59]

hmm Hawaii wasn't a territory of the US until 1900

also the fact that he renounced it and his birthdate was in 1866 something is fishy

if Hawaii wasn't even a territory until 1900, how do they have birth records.

My family is from Hawaii, and pretty much every record of our tree stops around 1880 cause there were no birth records prior to that

Definitely scummy as Fock, dont get me wrong. But no premeditation, thus no murder.

I was just going for a big name at the category. Congressmen slot between pedophiles and three card money street hustlers in my nexus of integrity.

The Act stated any person that was a citizen of the Republic of Hawaii on or before August 12, 1898 would also be a citizen of the United States, and any citizen of the United States that resided in the island on or after August 12, 1898 would have to live there to become a citizen of the Territory of Hawaii.[1]

Well, 'fishy' is an even better word than you know. It's highly speculated that Sun wasn't actually born in Hawaii and had obtained Hawaiian and US citizenship fraudulently. His Hawaiian birth certificate was issued not when he was a baby but when he was an adult, on the run in exile from Chinese authorities for promoting revolution, and in need of a safe haven to regroup, and knowing that the law stated that proof of Hawaiian birth granted him US citizenship as well.

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/0b/Sun_Yat-sen_Hawaiian.jpg

Still, the criteria all along for our purposes has been people who have had at one point or other US citizenship. Whatever the circumstances, it's well known that Sun had US citizenship.

(I also have another person like this)
