I believe Gurely has a much higher floor with with the most upside over these guys

I'm trying to come around on him as he will likely be my best rb option rnd2 if I go wr first. He could get 300 carries and the rams are better without all time terrible Fisher coaching.

You talking about Latavius Murray? Looks like we've got someone that drafted Gurley and thinks he has a steal. Remember that last year every RB that went against the 49ers gashed yards and scores? Todd Gurley couldn't get over 2.9 yards per carry against them. 1 game over 100 yards in the last 24 games! ONE!

Obviously Demarco Murray. Oof 1 in 24 games. They have to be better this year, plus they got that new lineman too.

Last year was PROBABLY Gurley's floor assuming health. PROBABLY.

But I think people are loving his name too much and baking that into their dreams of a mostly unseen/hope moreso than projection 'ceiling'. And even his schedule is screaming out 'hey...don't just assume that he's gonna be great!'. It's sweet to start but ends with PHI, @SEA, and @TEN. That's not exactly a money on the table schedule for a guy who could use a break.

In his rookie year, Gurley had a hot run of games basically out of nowhere coming off an injury and overtaking a sturdy (at the time) starting RB and won some leagues. His usage was crazy and the TDs and chunk runs were there.

You know who else has done that and then managed to hurt fantasy teams since then? Think about a guy like CJ Anderson (remember when he got taken super high the year after having a 6-ish game run to end a year). Or Doug Martin (who didn't even stay hot long enough to win people their league in his absurd rookie year. He laid something resembling an egg in week 15 after having a 3-4 week golden run).

Back to Gurley: sure, being rescued from Jeff Fisher is not nothing. And late in the 2nd round, it's not the worst thing to roll with Gurley over some of the other names on the list in that area. He's breathing similar air as Crowell on some ADP lists. I find that pretty crazy.

Howard and RB Fins? I prefer Jay over Howard, but Howard could end up being a steal if the Bears can find a way to not be horrible in that non-threatening John Foxy way. Given a choice, I'm Gurley, Jay, Howard in that order.

MAYBE he has the season that Melvin Gordon was on his way to having before that freak injury last year. Maybe he has the same year he just had.

I would rather chase a good year, than a bad year

Gordon was great, cause he was going in the 5th/6th last year

Gurley in the 2nd is a joke it really has a Toby Gerhart feel to it

Do you really have Gerhart that over rated?

Gerhart feel to it? Ok, pass that on down to me when you are through smoking it!! Gurley is was a freakish athlete in college.

FIFY

I wouldn't take Gurley until the double digit rounds... RB5.

I like to draft guys that have done it before and are now cheap...Unfortunately, Gurley's price is probably too high for me to take him.

If you know anything about Sean McVay, you know that Gurley won't have a terrible year. If he stays healthy, he'll finish top 10 easy and likely top 5!!

When Toby went to Jax, and was supposed to be the bellcow and 3rd down back we saw in Minn, the hype rose, he was a 3rd rounder that year.

Asking seriously, what is his past with rbs?

He got some pretty amazing production out of Fat Rob, a big slow plodder. It's not just about the RB position. He has a sharp football mind. Everyone who has ever been around him recognizes that. He'll get the most out of Goff, Gurley and Kupp. It's going to be fun to watch that team this year.

Is D J price to high for you to take?

He's a guy who's done it before.

yeah, but we dont truly know what he will do. his team ranked #20 and #21 in rushing yards the last 2 years. I acknowledge he didnt have a lot of talent to work with, but the most I am willing to suggest is that gurley wont totally suck like he did last year.

He has looked ok running the ball in exhibition, but it's still exhibition. I think gurley becomes a 1000 yard rusher again, but I dont wanna bet on him lighting up the league at this point.

I have Gurley projected for 1k rushing, 40/350 receiving and 6-9 tds.

That's 215+ points in ppr, and a solid rb1.

I agree with the OP and those defending gurley

if you watched the amazon prime series you can see the energy and life mcvay is going to pump into this team...but mostly the offensive creativity...this guy is sharp...and hes going to move gurley around and throw to him....mcvay is probably one of the sharpest minds in the league offensively.......hes going to help spring goff to life a little at a time.....theyve added OL help(although whitworth probably boosts pass protection more)...theyve added watkins, everett and kupp...woods too

you are going to see a rejuvenated gurley...and signs of life from this offense.....

im not even a rams fan...but i believe in this young coach.....hes sharp....you can see it in the last episode of all or nothing...and hes been productive in washington...

people forget this is a guy who averaged 4.8 on 230 carries not long ago....that just doesnt happen by accident...everyone was down on demarco and shady going into last year...but situations that got better quicker than anticipated helped them both have real good years

I have no doubt the new coach is a good football guy.

he wouldnt have made it this far if he wasnt.

Sometimes when a coach comes in he can turn things around immediately, but sometimes it takes time.

in this case, a lot of the problems are on the line, so this may take a bit more time than we think.

You can do things scheme wise to cover up the deficiencies of one player on the line.... sometimes two. but when the whole line sucks, there is only so much you can do with coaching.

This is where the line was last year. without a doubt.

they have a new LT. That will help. but It wont turn things around completely.

Hopefully some other things can be fixed with some good coaching and the line performs at an average level. Keep in mind, this may be the best case scenario here.

how does that affect Gurley's numbers? I think they improve, but not a lot. I've gone on record saying he will get 1000 yards rushing (provided he remains healthy) but I'm not betting on much more than that.

I believe they have a new center as well. They won't be pro bowlers, but they'll be better than last year. Plus, the overall scheme will be better. In fact, I think WR Kupp is a strong rookie of the year contender in a class that boasts talents like Mixon, McCaffrey and Cook!

Yes, I forgot to mention that.

They also brought in the Bills Line coach Aaron Kromer who I think did a decent job in Buffalo.

Whitworth at LT

Saffold at LG

John Sullivan at Center

Havenstein at RG

Jamon brown was running with the first team at RT early in the preseason. I dont know if that's still the case as I think there was supposed to be competition at RT.

The most reliable player on the line last year was Saffold, so the addition of Whitworth at LT and Sullivan at C would suggest we may see a lot of runs to the left side.
