Devonta Freeman agrees to 5 year deal with Falcons

Recommended Posts

Bell just took a nap dreaming of his payday. Hope this doesnt affect him on any hold out thoughts.

Darn!! I have him in a keeper league. I was hoping he'd play for a big contract this year (and kick butt), then hit free agency and go to a team like Houston, Indy, Green Bay, or Seattle who has a good team but no real lock down RB where he can be the long guy tearing it up. Now I may have to look to trade him now that he got his pay day.

I agree he probably won't be as hungry as if he was playing for a deal, but doesn't this also speak to how much the Falcons trust him going forward? That has to count for something.

Sorry, my comments were only meant to be in jest.

my keeper issue just gets harder,

Freeman - best skill set - has Coleman to share - now been paid

Ajayi - good speed with no competition - concussion before season -

kelse - Could be the new 1 TE as he stays healthy - do you want to take a TE in Keeper

standard scoring 1 keeper doesn't affect draft picks ( I have number 2 )

any advice

Guy gets Ryan blown up to lose the super bowl and gets a raise. You gotta love sports!

Yeah, that one play erased a 28-3 lead...

No, horrible coaching did that. But that would have been overcome if Ryan doesn't fumble. Freeman only enter to get out in the pattern, didn't even say "look out". Basic football. Belicheck woukd have traded him

No, Belichick wouldn't have allowed his defense to keep giving up touchdowns for it to have even mattered. He also would have been running the ball more and limiting the possibility of all those holding penalties they kept getting.

So you don't think Freeman's no block and Ryan's subsequent fumble was the pivotal play, notice I said play, not strategy or plays, that determined the final outcome?

Pivotal? No, not really. Was it a factor? Absolutely. But I still think coaching and bad penalties were the deciding factors. Also, I was more or less responding to your statement about Belichick trading him. That play never would have happened because it's not a bad coaching decision he would make.

It wasn't pivotal? Even after all the horrible coaching and penalties, If Atlanta goes 3 and out and gets the punt off they more than likely win the super bowl. And Assante Samuel thinks Belicheck would have shown Freeman the door.

Wow. What a dumb move for the team

Yeah no kidding. Especially with Coleman there. My only guess is they were trying to send a message to the team re: be a good soldier and you will be rewarded :dunno:
