Every now and again a players name from the past will creep into my head and it reminds me of 2 things.

#1 - There are many awesome fantasy seasons that are put up by guys that are not household names anymore (some never were) and maybe only had 2-3 great years. These players helped guys win their fantasy leagues either before the internet was a thing, or while it was still in it's infancy.

#2 - I have been playing Fantasy Football for a long damn time.

Today's Fantasy Flashback Player is Shaun Alexander.

From 2001 through 2005 there weren't very many fantasy players that produced on the level that he did.

2001 - 1,318 yards rushing with 14 rushing TD's & 343 yards receiving with 2 receiving TD's

2002 - 1,175 yards rushing with 16 rushing TD's & 460 yards receiving with 2 receiving TD's

2003 - 1,435 yards rushing with 14 rushing TD's & 295 yards receiving with 2 receiving TD's

2004 - 1,696 yards rushing with 16 rushing TD's & 343 yards receiving with 4 receiving TD's

2005 - 1,880 yards rushing with 27 rushing TD's & 78 yards receiving with 1 receiving TD

Not a bad run. For a while there, he was the man.

Jerry Rice.

Before ppr leagues he was a first round draft pick.

From 1988-1996.

He had 850 rec 12802 yards and scored 114 rec tds.

So for nine seasons that's an avg stat line of 94/1422/12.

Nine straight seasons over 1200 plus rec yards

Seven out of nine seasons he scored more then 10 tds.

And eight out of those nine seasons he posted 80 plus rec.

And still even without ppr leagues he was a first round pick, that many a times would lead your team to the Title.

Priest Holmes was another that dominated ff for a few years. Another ppr gem I loved was Domanic Davis who later changed his name to Domanick Williams.

My very first fantasy football pick, fourth pick in the first round. Priest Holmes that is.

The same season he broke the TD record.

Won me my first championship.

Best pick I've ever made.

I almost named my son Alexander after he won me so much money... and ,my son was born in 08, so this was after he sucked.

greatest player ever.  I have fond memories of looking forward to Seahawks vs. Cardinal games.

I cashed in on Kurt Warners rookie year due to only person who found who was the back up for trent green. Ricky Watters,  Carl Pickens, Rice, Tim Brown are some that were good to me. To me it was the not so well known people who made the impact, Gary Brown from the Houston oilers I believe at the time and Harvey Williams from Oakland.

Only 2 years as a fantasy god, but Larry Johnson was a man in 2005 and 2006 for the Chiefs. Over 1700 yards rushing both years and 37 rushing TDs (20 and 17). Add in another 750 receiving yards and another 3 TDs in the passing game. Probably on quite a few FF championships teams those years.

He had two pretty good years. Nothing special. I guess his price was cheap the 1st year at least.

Tim Brown 1993-2001

10992 rec yards = 1221 per season in them nine seasons

790 rec = 87 per season in them nine seasons.

75 tds = 8 tds per season in them nine seasons.
