    ***Official NCAA wagering thread***

I'm taking FSU tonight +3 (buying half a point). UNC just has no offense this year. Ponder and Co. should be able to put between 10-20 points on the board, so it's up to UNC offense to do the same. Plus, I think FSU being 2-4 lights a fire under their butts to get it going already. The season has been embarrassing enough for them as it is. They showed BYU how dangerous they can be when they are focused on the game. Then again, UNC will be rocking for their first Thursday night game so who knows. That's why they call it gambling! Also, is anybody taking a look at Miami -4 1/2 this Saturday at home against Clemson? I follow the ACC and realize Clemson is better than their record indicates. I think I read somewhere where 8 out of their last 10 losses have been by < 7 points. Having said that, Miami has played great at home thus far this season, especially their offensive line. This is huge as when Jacory gets good protection, Miami's offense is almost unstoppable. Clemson has a talented front 5, but if Miami's offensive line continues to play over their heads at home, Clemson will be playing catch up the entire game, and their offense just isn't capable of putting up better than average numbers against Miami in my opinion. What does everyone else think?

Heh, no trend has a chance of overcoming the "Al Davis" effect!! San Diego rolls in yet another laugher in this rivalry. I got: Minnesota -4 2 units San Diego -9 2.5 units New England -10 1/2 1.5 units I wasn't able to post in time but I won 1 unit on Tennessee +6 1/2 last night

yahoo scoring with Jay Cutler right?

Well, it's official. Instead of losing by 1.3, I now win the matchup by 0.7. And yes, he is quite upset with this turn of events which I can fully understand. It sucks to miss out on a possible championship because of something like this. What makes it even more interesting is he *could* have picked up a backup RB for Philly or Cleveland on Sunday (like Buckhalter) and been able to start him tonight as our league allows pickups at any time. He didn't though, and now it's too late because pickups only appear on the roster the day after the transaction. I am officially going to the championship game! It's been a bizarre year as my team finished the year 6-7 and sneaked into the 8th and final seed in the playoffs even though it was the 5th highest scoring team in our 14 team league. The only way my team even made it in was because the other team vying for the 8th seed lost a heartbreaker in his last game when Berrian scored that 95 yard TD, hehehehe. That same guy (Berrian) almost single handedly beat me yesterday!! WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO....................................

yahoo scoring with Jay Cutler right?

Wow, that is amazing if true! I do feel bad for my opponent if this ends up putting me in the championship game. He made a roster adjustment after the afternoon games were done. He had Barber and T. Choice but ended up benching them both and leaving one of his RB positions empty once he saw the score and "thought" he was up by 1.3. At that point he didn't realize the yahoo score for Cutler may be in error. Just a bizarre situation!

yahoo scoring with Jay Cutler right?

Thank you for the reply, even if it is bad news. <cries into his beer> Every year I make a run in the playoffs only to come up short. Darn, one of these years the breaks will go my way. This year my opponent had Santonio Holmes, and I'm not sure that was really a TD the refs gave him.
  6. Hey all, I lost a heartbreaker of a matchup according to yahoo scoring (lost by 1.3 points). Looking at it closely though, it seems they shorted me 2 points with Cutler. They scored him 5.89, but by my count he should have 7.89. I get 6 points per TD, 1 point per 50 yards passing, and 1 point per 20 yards rushing with -2 for a fumble or INT. I see yahoo showing his stats as 172 yards passing with 1TD and 1INT to go along with 9 yards rushing. My calculations have this as = 7.89. So, apparently yahoo has him with 2 turnovers instead of the 1 I see. Anyone know what's going on with this? If they give me 2 more points then I move on to the championship round!

WhiteWonder, I'd be happy to comment on the Miami game for you. I always preface any Miami analysis by saying I'm a huge Miami fan since I was a little kid, but I try to be as impartial as possible when looking to place a bet on them. Okay, so on first glance you see big bad Miami playing Duke and only giving up 5 points (my site is at 4 1/2). Wow, how can Miami not cover that?!? Well, sad to say that Miami is no longer Miami...especially on the offensive side of the ball. Whether it's youth, bad playcalling by the OC (I'm looking at you Nix!), or just bad talent on the field, Miami's offense has been quite subpar the past few years. I had high hopes there would be improvement this year, but with two freshman QB's chucking the rock and a bevy of freshman and sophmore WR's on the other end, I guess it was too much to ask. The one bit of good news is Javarris James is almost 100% back from his ankle sprain so he will see some playing time this week. Miami missed him giving them a good 1-2 punch with him and Cooper. I haven't verified this, but I believe since Miami has joined the ACC they have yet to cover the spread against Duke. In fact, the past few games have been absolute nail biters with Duke having plenty of chances to pull off the shocking win. I think this year will be another nailbiter for Miami. Turnovers have been killing them, and I just don't have much faith right now in Miami's offense putting up a lot of points. Their defense too is a bit of an enigma. They looked good for 3 quarters against Florida and then let UNC just rip them to shreds (granted UNC has a decent offense). They are just too young on both sides of the ball, I don't like Nix as their OC and playcaller, this game is on the road and Duke has given them fits the past few years. I'm not betting on Duke because I just can't bet against my team, but I'm certainly not putting any money on Miami this week either! I'm just hoping they find a way to win as losing to Duke just would be too embarrassing. This is like Michigan going down to Toledo embarrassing

I would just like to say ..... FLUCK CLEMSON! Has there ever been a more consistently overrated team the past few years? I should know better as I'm a diehard Miami fan. Damn, how any Bowden still has a job is beyond me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hats off to Wake as they just have superior coaching and good recruiting to fit their type of play. Defense of theirs does look good.

Far and away the one loss that haunts me is my bet on the Buffalo Bills with the infamous "Music City Miracle" game against the Titans. It was one of the largest bets I ever placed in my life (several thousand). One can argue that the bet was stupid (people always ask me why I would bet on a team with that loser USC guy QB'ing). Still, the fact is they had that game won and if it wasn't for a ridiculously lucky lateral (forward pass?) I would be sitting in $$$$$$$. Instead I had to cry in my free beer (I was in Vegas).

Oh man does Notre Dame suck!!!!! I was scared to bet on such a horrible team like San Diego St., but I guess that was the play, LOL. I put my money on West Virginia -7 and so far they aren't looking all that great. Maybe ECU is the real deal?
  12. I think I gave ya the kiss of death yet mom when I saw your OU team total over bet and said to myself, "Hey, that is a really good bet! I wish my site offered the ability to bet on team totals!" What happened to Bradford? It's bad news for OU if he is out for the game.

That was a crazy finish to the Miami/FSU game...wow. I keep saying I'm going to stop betting college football, but here I am. Of course I'm 0-5 so far today, LOL! I really do need to hang it up as this is not my year. I had Ohio St., Notre Dame, Cal, Wyoming, and Nevada. <shakes head> Still have Colorado, K. State, and the over of Ohio/Toledo (sorry yer mom if I cursed you).
