Cooper will be a top 5 WR

Recommended Posts

Oh well if you said Gurley is a top 5 rb then that's it. I'm sold!

I like Cooper, but he has a good receiver next to him that will catch his share. He also plays in a tough division as far as defenses go. Not saying it's not possible, I just think there is a clearer shot for other guys.

When you're a "stud" which a top 5 wr would be, schedule doesn't matter.

Also Crabtree hit his ceiling last year and won't out target cooper this year. With that said I don't see cooper top 5.

A brown

Julio

Odel

Nuk

Aj green

I'm not saying Cooper is gonna be top 5 but I would take him over AJ Green. Ask yourself this, who is the OC for the Bengals now? Because it ain't Hue Jackson anymore

That's going too far imo. Is the new coordinator going to feature Lafell now? Last I checked Dalton was still the QB. He lost two of his top 3 targets and Eifert is still recovering. Who else is Dalton going to throw to? Or is the OC going to feature a power run game with Hill, who is slow as hell. Why not feature the best guy on offense?

I Love Cooper, ever since he was a frosh at Bama but I don't see him having a better season than Brown, Beckham, Julio, AJ, Dez, A-Rob, Hopkins or Marshall.

I hope he improves but last season he dissapeared at times and had a lot of crucial drops. Granted he was a rookie but I'm not seeing Top 10 for him this year, not yet anyways.

I think the word disappointment is a little harsh. He was a rookie. I would much rather have Djohns and Cooper than Green and Lacy (most likely my pick in the 2nd). I am also probably taking Green over Hopkins. The only 2nd round receiver I may take over Cooper is Marshall.

I hope you're not putting any money on Cooper finishing in the top 5. I think he's really good but not that good yet. Top 12 for me.

PS: Having to tell people that you "called it" on Gurley last year in order to give yourself credibility does the complete opposite.

While I enjoy reading predictions, and give accolades when due, saying the best rookie running back to come into the NFL since Adrian Peterson would finish in the top 5 wasn't that far fetched. I'll give mine for this season, along the same lines: Ezekiel Elliott will finish as a top 20 running back in both PPR and Standard leagues. I gave a prediction for two different scoring formats, so I lowered the overall finish a bit. You know, to give me some room for error. : )

Where did I use the word "dissapointment?"

Whoops. Read disappeared as dissapointment. My bad.

All good, for a second I thought maybe my phone autospelled the wrong word. Not to change the subject but do you see Crabtree repeating his 2015 numbers?

I respect your opinion frozen

I think he could. The reason I am a little more hesitant on Raiders receivers is because the division is so tough on the pass, and it may be getting tougher. If a Raiders opponent has one good corner and they put him on Cooper, Crabtree should thrive in those games. I also think Carr gets a little bit better by experience so just because Crabtree numbers stay the same, it doesn't mean Coopers can't go up.

I don't see Cooper as a top five Wr .

And I do see Crabtree having another season like last season .

Either way I sure do like the ideal of picking up Carr late in my drafts as a starting Qb with that amount of talent to throw too .

If you're going to finish in the top 5 for WR's, there's some criteria that has to be reached. Food for thought.

First: 8+ receiving TDs

Second: 80+ receptions

Third: 1,250+ receiving yards

In the last five seasons (with the exception of Calvin Johnson's 1964 yard season), all of these boxes were checked.

Based on what the poster above said , it still doesn't guarantee a top five even if you reach them numbers

Look at A Robinson last season . His numbers last season where 80 rec 14 tds and 1400 yards and finshed 6th in scoring .

And AJG his numbers last season where , 86 rec and 10 tds and 1297 yards and he finshed 8th .

I can Cooper achieving those numbers , but I still think he won't finish in the top five .

Sorry missed ranked AJG. He was 8th. .

Did weepies just use numbers to back up one of his statements??? :shocking:

Mark my words he'll be a top 5 WR this year. No doubt about it. I called Gurley last year I'm calling this this year.

Disagree

Cooper is a VERY talented player who has a chance to be a top ten WR for the next decade............. but I don't think he is a consistent top 5 guy because I believe it requires true elite physical gifts that he doesn't possess, OR a superlative situation (top end QB, top end O, bottom end D, etc) combined with his level of talent.

Could it happen a year or two of his career?

Sure, anybody in his talent tier can make the leap for a year based on fluky TDs, game script, etc. but to me it looks like game script is trending the opposite direction.

IMO, Cooper is one of safer WR1s, but also one of the least likely drafted as a WR1 to crack the top five.

I have a question:

I read an article stating that he was playing with an injured foot the last 4 or 5 games of last year (when his numbers kinda sucked)

do we know the extent of that injury and if its still affecting him?

Foot injuries(depending on the nature of the injury) tend to be real bad for WR's and can become chronic.

does anyone know more about this?

Will see guys ;) and for the Gurley comments made a post saying he'll be the #1 pick in fantasy and everyone laughed I could bump it if you want but then everyone gets salty and mad. Look at coopers numbers before he got hurt. Go watch interviews with him and how he talks. Kid has been picking jerry rices brain a ton and has a different mind set then most these athletes he's seriously a different breed. I hear all he does is eat, sleep and train. The guy is in the weight room alllllll the time. Go look what he did against a ton of elite corners last year. Watch the tape

It doesn't lie...He was hurt has still put up great numbers a season healthy in this Offesne where the DST has gotten so much better will be huge.

Could easily see this happening and everyone who knows football sees that Cooper is a prime top 10 candidate.

Everybody on Oakland is a bit of a sleeper this year. The Raiders are on the upswing and have loads of talent on both sides of the ball. While it's not fantasy football related, my feeling is they win that division this year and make noise the entire season.

For me, the talent is there. the question is this:

how long does it take them to put it all together?

I feel like they are on the cusp.

I'm predicting at least 2 more wins this year. If things fall right & they stay healthy there is a chance this could be a wild card team.

I traded for cooper last season about week 4. turned out to be a great trade, but he faded hard at the end. I was actually a bit relieved to find out he was injured and playing through it and gave me more confidence this season in him. I expect both he and Carr to surprise people all season long. The Raiders have a sweet opening schedule and don't see a really tough defense for the first 5 weeks. That makes me even higher on Cooper and Carr and to a lesser extent Murray.

I could see Crabtree staying around the same. give or take 100 yards.

Coopers numbers will improve, and he will get more TD's than he did last year as well.

I think he will emerge as a legit WR1. Top 5 may be expecting a bit much for this year, but I'd say it's not impossible. The talent is there.

it's just a question of how fast does he grow as a player?

I feel like most of you guys don't read camp news or watch interviews or tape. Just mark this post down and if he's not there then you can say I told you so. Dude played with a big injury last year and when he didn't he was breaking Peterson and Revis ankles. Dude route running is insane and his quickness is unreal, he can also take the top off the defense. If you think he played well last year as a rookie where most WR don't even peak till their 3rd year you have not seen anything yet.

I'll take Crabs before Cooper, due to their respective ADPs

Fixed that for you, as certainly you didn't mean straight up lol.

Easy wr1, zero doubt in my mind. Great pick in rnd 3 for guys who have the first overall selection.

Saw Eric Allen on NFL Network joking how he warned Coop before the season he'd have 'sore feet' by years end. Truthfully they should've shut him down, even Reggie McKenzie admitted as much. Their offense really took a hit with him limited. If this team has a flaw it's WR depth, or lack thereof.

Coop is fine now, and actually possesses more physical gifts than given credit for. Rumor was at his combine he was clocked slower than his actual 40 time. Don't know the veracity of that, but did see a graphically enhanced video of him beating Devante Parker AND Kevin White in the combine 40. For what it's worth lol.

One thing is for certain, he's the most technically proficient WR to come out of the draft in some time. He's got to cut those focking drops in half though. Oh, and look for him to get more than zero looks out of Oakland's 23 pass attempts inside the ten yard line.

Cooper is awesome but I don't think top 5 is likely this year for a couple reasons: targets and TDs. I'm going to use half-PPR stats to split the difference between standard and full PPR, but the point is basically the same across all formats: to be a top-5 fantasy receiver in today's pass-crazy NFL, you need to catch 100 passes or score 12 TDs. And sometimes that's still not enough!

Neither are that easy to come by, and I think both will be particularly hard to come by in Oakland. Carr is blossoming into a really good QB, but he has also tended to spread the ball around, with many fringe players you'd never roster scoring 4 TDs, 5 TDs, and so on. I'm not quite convinced that Cooper's going to cut into the team TD percentage that much, or see an uptick in targets to the 160+ range where guys like Antonio Brown, Julio, Demaryius, and Brandon Marshall have lived the last few seasons.

That said, I'll still happily draft him anywhere I can get him. "Top 5" is a great thing, but I'm pretty happy with WR8 or 9 when that means 85/1200/9.

Cooper is a good Wr 1 , I just don't see who he would replace in the top five .

For that reason I'm not going to rank him as a top five Wr .

He could replace the 2-3 of those guys that gets hurt or just busts. But yea I agree with you that 6-12 is a safer range if you call him a wr1.

Cooper is part of the reason I wanted 1st pick. Ideal strategy is draft Antonio Brown, Cooper, Cooks. Trade Antonio Brown for David Johnson + some extra swag. Prosper.

Pass that doobie, must be some killer stuff. Straight up possibly, even then if the DJ owner drafted wrs he likes, no chance.

I believe for him to be top 5 some of the top guys now will have to suffer injuries. I'm sure there will be some but Cooper will more likely be a top 10 guy this year at WR. You'll be happy to have him I'm sure.

Come on. If he was so equal he would be going first overall. I never see him go before AB.

I did say ideally though. In reality I would have probably just drafted DJ.
