I probably shouldnt have to explain to you that a 1-year deal carries almost no risk for a team as far under the cap as Philly, and that paying Smart a one year max wouldnt be a bad investment for some teams but giving him a multi year max would be dumb.

I could not justify giving that coin to a guard who cant shoot at all, even with Smarts other skills and D.

Simmons has been better as a shooter than I expected but hes also an elite passer and such a physical freak that he can get to the rim at will. Smart has pretty much hit his ceiling.

well, admittedly the Nets are pretty screwed in terms of my prediction that they will contend for a playoff spot (or my little sig bet with MDC) considering we've lost Lin and now Russell possibly both for the season. Thats 2 of their top 3 players right there. World beaters? no. But a fully healthy Nets team was cohesive enough to fight for that 7th or 8th seed.
