The Geek Club Fantasy Football Little Help Thread

Recommended Posts

It's like three little boards all rolled up into one thread. I thought we could help each other with trade, who to start, and who to pick up as free agents. Here, in this thread. I just don't trust the mouf breathers over on the mange bored.

I'll start it off this week (week 8):

I'm 4-3 facing my division leader who is 5-2. Needless to say a big game this week for me. I can't decide who to start at TE in a PPR league between Jordan Reed and Antonio Gates.

Any help in breaking the tie?

gates. Rivers will end up with 60 attempts

I was leaning Gates too. Then this morning I read where the Broncos have one of the best secondaries in the league and the Cowboys give up the #2 most fantasy points to TE's so far this season.

This is true, and while I tend to avoid non-Bronco Thursday players, Reed has an unknown QB situation (prolly McCoy). I'd roll with Gates.

Consensus is gates?

Use Reed

Rivers only had 20 passes last year in Denver when they controlled the clock with Mathews... I would think that they will try the same with Oliver...

But with McCoy at the helm Monday night that would make me nervous to use Reed...

Go with Gates and don't expect a lot...

Have the bronco's faced a SD/Gates type offense yet ?

Rankings don't mean too much yet.

I'm going to take the opposite side on this one. I like Reed this week with McCoy at QB. If the game plays out like it should, the Skins will be behind most of the game and should throw it a lot. I can see some nice stats from garbage time for Reed. The same can be said for the Chargers probably playing from behind, but there are more mouths to feed with the Bolts. Coin toss, they both have nice starts.

Gates. If only because he is 20-some yards away from breaking Alworth's team record for receiving yards. You know Rivers will do whatever he can to get him the ball...especially in Denver with young-buck J Thomas on the other sideline.

I have the same combo in 12Geeks and am using Gates. Also, you'll have bye problems week 10.

I thought we could all bounce stuff off of one another since we come here every day and most of us like football. I didn't realize picking fake players for a fake team based on statistics made a man tough. It takes a real man, bad ass, to pick fantasy players!@#!

Yup, score one for the Geek Club!

Seems that way

I'd like to be happier for you, but I'm going against Sanders

I'd rather ask for advice here too. Good idea KSB

I started Gates last night as well :highfive:

Edelman or Fitzgerald for my #3 WR this week?

PPR have to go Edelman. Hell, standard scoring I'd go Edleman too.

Pick one (PPR)...

Baldwin, Colston or Holmes

I think I'd be hard to sit D. Baldwin after last week. He'd be my choice. The Carolina Defense hasn't been playing very well either.

You don't sit your studs. I live by this rule.

Please tell me you're not one of these guys who asks for opinions then after the games bumps the ones somebody got wrong. That's manage bored amateaur hour stuff. Fantasy football is a crapshoot. Its educated guesses based on past performance, current matchups and gut feelings. It's like betting on ball games or playing poker. Nobody wins everytime, you just try to win more than than you lose.

No, I'm just busting balls. I won this week anyway so it wasn't a big deal (thanks Brady and Maclin). Always like hearing different opinions

However with that being said, Edelman will be on the :bench: for the foreseeable future. He's been slowly getting phased out of the Pats offense for the last month or so.

I started Cam Newton over Roethlisberger last week. Is it worth the risk to the space-time continuum to go back and change it? TIA.

My weekly WR question:

Start which 2 of these 3? .5 PPR

A. Johnson

Fitz

LaFell

Tough, but I like Andre at home versus the Eagles for sure. The other starter is a coin flip, leaning Fitz.
