Sleeper RB......

Recommended Posts

I'm just getting into my draft day research. Who you got a for a sleeper running back? I'm sure everyone here wants to disclose their unknown gem.

McKinnon

Mixon

Henry

Thompson

Who ya got? Frankly, I'm not that high on Mixon, but I know others are touting him as a sleeper. I'd maybe like him better if the Bengals had any kind of offensive line.

Dude thats a player who will be sitting on waivers in an 18 team league. Im a cowboys fan & have a very good handle on my team. If Bo cant contrubite on special teams then I doubt he even makes our 53. Your post would have been insightful had you mentioned Rod Smith. The coaches love Rod & hes actually bigger than Bo. If Zeke goes down, its Rod Smiths backfield.

I think Tavon Austin could be an interesting sleeper, personally. The cowboys have him listed as a RB and the talk is were lining him up everywhere and plan to use him as a web-back similar to Tarik Cohen. If Auston carries duel WR/RB designation then he could be worthy of a late round flyer.

I'm a Cowboys fan too. Rod Smith isn't the kind of guy who is going to break out though. He may be a decent fill in some weeks if Zeke is out but he's been around a while and has never been more than a back up and I just don't see him being a break out guy. If Zeke is out for an extended period of time I guarantee you Scarborough will be one of the top pick ups that week. If he shines then he will be trade bait.

He's a deep sleeper but worth a mention.

Mixon, McKinnon, Henry will all be picked within the first few rounds so I wouldn't consider them sleeers. I play PPR & think McKinnon will be a RB1 in that format.

I'm with weepaws on Penny.

I am taking a hard look at Tevin Coleman as Freeman runs so violently, it's a matter of time before he's concussed again.

There's a new Freeman in town. At least in Denver there is.

Psalm 55:23.

I would agree about R Freeman, but I’m not so sure he can gather enough of a work load unless Booker gets hurt.

Never praying for a player too get hurt, but I do think it’s going too e a 50/50 work load.

Thanks.

K Ballage of the Dolphins.

If Drake doesn’t get the job done, nor if he can’t hold up, I think Ballage and not Gore would be the next up.

He could be a sleeper if given the opportunity.

Thanks.

Guice+Freeman should be your priorities. Best value for the production you should get. After that Ill take some Chase Edmunds for Arizona, Nyheim Hines with the Colts or Jordan Wilkins for colts as well. A cheap late round guy who could easily get goal line duties is Peyton Barber for the Bucs. Justin Jackson for the chargers if something happens to Gordon and same for John Kelly, kamaras Tennessee backfield mate, backing up Gurley

I have to agree.

a player is a sleeper if they are not on anyones draft board or they are very low on most peoples draft board and they produce at a level that substantially exceeds their draft position

for that reason I think it is fair to say anyone who would likely go in the first 3-4 rounds likely woulld not qualify as a sleeper. Even round 5-6 is questionable (but at least possible if the player becomes an elite fantasy option)

to further reply to this post, I still think Tevin coleman is a decent lottery pick and if you own Freeman, I'd suggest he is a must have handcuff. but if you are drafting late and Tevin Coleman is sitting on the board, I would not hesitate to take him.

I think D Martin could be a sleeper pick.

I have a feeling he will be the number one ff producing Skill player on the Raiders this next season.

I’m not a fan of his, but I just think he will have somewhat of a rebound season.

Thanks.

Rashaad Penny's ADP is 4.04.

I like Chris Carson's ADP at 11.06 much more.

Though Carson only played in 4 games last season, he led the league in broken tackles at 37.5%.

Carson was the standout at OTA's among all Seahawk players, and Carroll raved about him. Carson changed his diet, put on 10 pounds of muscle and reportedly looks chiseled.

Carson will be the reason why Penny doesn't live up to his draft position in my opinion. People expecting Penny to be a three down back the whole season will be disappointed.

Got Chase Edmonds in round 24 of best ball league. I like Spencer Ware and James Conner as well. Excellent potential for Tavon Austin to score some points in a dual role...

Jaylen Samuels Im buying all day in the last round. Levon is gonna pull a matt forte and sit on the trainers table from week 10 on and wait for a new deal somewhere else. Jaylen Samuels is awesome

Samuals will be the #2 there. Bell will take his $14.5 million and run, catch, and score. Screw contract talks. He won't have to play preseason, he's loaded rich, the best RB in football stats-wise etc... Hall of fame bound. Take him #1 overall in fantasy. Why the hell would he sit out?

Ty Montgomery (hope he does well when Aaron Jones is suspended and maybe sell for a small profit)

Frank Gore (at current ADP he's worth a shot)

Latavius Murray (Vikings ran the ball a ton last year. Even if Cook gets 250 carries, Murray could still put up RB2/3 numbers)

If he does hold out, he damn sure shouldn't go #1 overall.

Of the sampled RBs in the article, two interesting takeaways for the year they held out compared to the previous season:

Running back scrimmage yards were down 36%.

Running back touchdowns were down 43%.

I don’t really find that info interesting, I think it’s predictable.

If it went the other way I would find that more interesting.

Kenneth Dixon is interesting to me. 3rd year. He's been derailed by injuries so far, but if he can stay healthy he should be the most talented running back on the roster. And on these teams with coaches that need to win like Harbaugh, I expect them to not be sentimental and play their best players.

Yes but those stats also proved that Bell was the #1 exception to that rule. Bell had more yards from scrimmage and more tds than the previous season.

I too agree that Jaylen Samuels is a better lottery ticket than Conner because he will be on the field for more snaps than Conner. I cannot wait to watch the many things that Jaylen can do. He is a great pick for the sixth round and will help the Steelers offense all year.

Bell has plenty of incentive to play for his next contract if he doesn't sign a long term in the next ten days.

Bell has plenty of incentive to play for 14.5 million.

That statement is not true. IF he plays for the tag of $14.5 and does not sign a long term deal in the next ten days then he will rightfully consider that is his salary for only one season. 14.5 million is what he will get no matter what so I do not understand your incentive assertion?

I do not see any incentive for Bell to give Pittsburgh his all thru the playoffs if the Steelers do not sign him to at least a three year contract.

Bell's primary incentive this year will be playing for his next contract if he and the Steelers to not come to an agreement real soon.

Contracts in the NFL are not guaranteed. 14.5 million this year plus 12 million last year ect... is fine. If he stays healthy for the year it's even more money later. This is not MLB. He is a rich NFL running back. No team will pay him a 14.5 million dollar salary. Except for the Steelers this year. Bell is smart. He will keep taking these one year deals and be the richest RB to ever play the game. And not have to play in preseason.

It would be stupid for him as an RB not to play under the franchise tag for that amount and then also be forced to play the prrseason on top of it.

Luke 7:47.

If you are indeed right, and you might be, just how sad is that.

Not enough incentive too help your team win.

I appreciate your post thanks, it really makes me wonder about how spoiled these people are that play on the nfl today.

Thank.

You do realize that it is just a job they hold right? Just like a check out person at a grocery store. Nobody owes anything other than the job agreement.

Yeah, they should all be more giving like the following players:

I like Collins this year... Guy looks the part, learned a ton last year and got alot of experience. If the Ravens have any kind of balance with the new pass catchers i think Collins becomes a solid RB2

no way in hell you take doug martin.. he is terrible.. not only will he not beat out Lynch, but even if lynch gets hurt, he will suck. He will look great in preseason though.. so many will draft him much higher then they should.

What is everyone seeing in Collins? He doesn't do it for me, and he's going in the 4th round in some competitive leagues.

Ok, ok. Maybe Mckinnon is not a true sleeper. Though, for folks that don't FF year round he is practically an unknown. Also, he is going quite high for a guy who has not been able to stay healthy enough to be a work horse back.

I don't like R Freeman, I don't trust the coaching staff in Denver, really for any of their players.

I still like Chris Carson in Seattle.

My serious darkhorse is Jalen Richard in Oakland. He's got some wheels!
