Hatchet wound.
Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, it is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver. ~Jack Handey (VIA IronToeNedney)

We have a twenty day trip to Thailand in January. Then have to finish paying for the wedding and saving for summer travels and whatnot. So weve decided not to really do gifts this year.

She has a pair of shoes shes been wanting that for whatever reason she never pulls the trigger on. Ill buy those. Probably some hiking boots for our trip. Thats about it.

I focking loved Ko Phagn Nagn when I went to Thailand. Was 14 years ago though so I was 14 years younger. Might be different now

P.S. everyones going to think your GF is a hooker you picked up (no offense but white man with Asian woman pretty much means that there) but maybe you get that already

Got my SO a pair of tickets to Little Big Town concert this coming spring. (Center stage row 11.) I don't care for the music but that's part of the gift. Not gunna b!tch about it and try to have fun.

If they held another election on November 9th, Trump would have lost the popular by 10 million and the electoral in a landslide. So many people didn't bother voting because the media was telling them Clinton was a lock by 10 points. And Trump's approval rating dropped from 47% to 37% just in the weeks between the election and inauguration.  Unless he can get someone to reign him in, I doubt he'll survive the four years, let alone any chance at being reelected.

Were doing the north, not the south. Since she cant swim (a problem I still havent corrected) the island thing has little attraction to her.

We are doing Kanachaburi (death railway over the River Kwai), Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Chiang Saen and the Golden Triangle, maybe Pai if we have time, and a few days in Bangkok on the back end. Shes agreed that we have to go to the red light district and see a ping pong and lady boy show. That should be hilarious.

This summer we have the wedding in late July in the Philippines. My parents, to my surprise, have decided to come, and are bringing my nephew. We will all go to Palawan afterward. My dad and nephew and I will scuba dive the Japanese WWII wrecks, stuff like that.

So basically we just work and lay low here in china and save to have nice times on break.

Yeah, I know that. We dont really get that here. Most Chinese people assume shes Chinese until they try to talk to her and she cant reply at all.

Pretty much every white guy here also has an Asian girlfriend or spouse, or a string of them anyway.

I liked chiang mai but thats basically the only place I went in the north. All my best memories were from the island but I was pretty much just partying 24/7, doing the backpacker scene. Lots of willing ladies from all over the world in that scene

If I had a husband (this is a sad way to start a sentence), since I get what I 'need' things wise it would be cool to be made something. A guy I was dating earlier in the year wanted to take up metalsmithing and my request was a mounted iron coat rack. Something one of a kid, preferably from his hands ( :nono:) or an experience to have.

I have made furniture in the past for my wife. I think I even created a thread with photos at the geek club,.For her birthday this year we made one of those 100 dollar kit doll houses from Hobby Lobby for our daughter. She likes doing projects and painting together. Even though the actual present was for our daughter it made sense to buy it and put it together for my wife's birthday.

In other words no projects for Christmas, if i cannot buy it then i will not get it.

Is there something you two have wanted to do together, just haven't taken the initiative to make it happen? Some kind of trip, etc.

How far are you from the coast? Bed and Breakfast weekend? Ex: I've always wanted to ride horses on a beach, and a moonlit one would be even more memorable. Might not appeal to her of course, you have to know or mull over what her/both of your's experience might be. Something that might even be downright impractical but will stay in your memories.

I took her for a horseback riding on the beach, but that was when we first started dating. We also have done bed and breakfast more recently, hut that was still before kids.

The problem with almost any activity is kids.

Grandparents aren't in the equation? Or Aunts and Uncles? I was thinking even just the initiation of a fund to do something bucket list that will take more $ overall than Christmas allows for. The first step in a serious commitment to save toward it. That combined with a small more basic gift.

As much of a cop-out as gift cards usually are, I make an exception for Etsy. But of course she would need to generally like the type of marketplace it is (vintage, handmade, artsy). Someone forcing me to gradually find something on there doesn't sound bad at all. If she likes to bake and doesn't have one yet, a KitchenAid mixer.

I never understood the idea of married people living together and sharing money....asking for specific gifts they want for christmas.  Why wait until christmas?

As if christmas presents weren't tacky enough in their own right.  But "asking" for certain things for a SO to buy you?  I felt tacky and weird when my parents would ask me what I wanted for christmas by age 15.

i've heard that several chefs are starting to do this (ramsey, etc).  i believe that you guys have cordon bleu in phx.  how about a live cooking class that focuses on a cuisine you want to learn more about.

Ramsey is in that link as another chef.  For $180 (vs. $90) you can sign up for multiple chefs plus a bunch of other experts in other areas.  Do you not think this looks worthwhile, at least the one chef in the video in my link?  Cordon Bleu doesn't look like what I'd want; don't need a "Training program discusses classic cooking methods, nutrition, product quality, cost control, effective communication techniques"

I am not sure I would love doing this via video.   I prefer live classes as a lot of cooking is done by the senses and you might want direct feedback.  Plus, the kitchen may have misc useful utensils/ingredients.

It's only $90, so give it a try.  I am a big fan of both kellers.
