No threads about how Trump wants to take your guns away?

Recommended Posts

Everybody knows hes full of sh1t. Just desperate to stop his slide in the already-sh1tty polls

I don't know if I believe that's entirely true. At the end of the day, I don't think Trump really aligns to either a conservative or liberal agenda. He's probably one of the most moderate Republican presidents ever. He's changed parties back and forth over the years, is clearly not a Christian, adulterer, etc. The GOP knows this, and that's obviously why they did everything in their power to stop him from getting the nomination. Even his base knows this, but all they really cared about was "draining the swamp", when they went to the polls in 2016. He sold them basically the same thing Obama sold the democrats in 2008. Of course we all know Citigroup ended up filling Obamas cabinet, just like Trump filled his with executives from Exxon, Goldman Sachs, etc. It's the same song and dance over and over again.

He talks out of both sides of his mouth...then Miller gets to talking to him and he almost always falls back to the right.

See DACA as a recent example.

Tax Cuts

Military Spending

Federal Judges

Immigration

Tariffs and trade are oddballs...but seems the parties are almost switching in those things over the past few years.

Youre absolutely right; but Im hindsight, I think Trump is a better president than Hillary ever would have been. They were both terribly flawed candidates, and neither one gives a fock about the interest of the middle class, but Hillary was so toxic. Id vote for Trump, if I HAD to do it all over again.

Id still vote for neither.

I think what he is doing to th federal judiciary is not good at all. I thought no whatbhe jas dine internationally is not good.

FFS Outin is playing videos about how his new mussels can evade intercept and blow up Florida...not a word. The NSA (who will be leaving soon) and the CIA director have laid out how Russia is attacking us and we do nothing. The Dorector of Nation Security states publicly thatbhe has been given no direction to try and stop Russian cyber attacks that everyone in intelligence says is ongoing.

Then we can read up on plans for what nuclear items being proposed with the Saudis.

I think Hillary would have had her warts and plenty to complain about...but hard to imagine it being worse than some of this stuff.

We seize guns without due process all the time. Have since 1997. President Trump won this thread.

So D1cks sporting goods has decided to quit selling "assault style" weapons.

In a related story, Ellen Degeneres suddenly likes d1cks.

Great job, guys. You elected a president who thinks the 2nd Amendment doesn't exist.

He wasn't the one that began taking guns before due process. Like I said, it's been happening since 1997

Just because you said so doesn't make it so.

Domestic violence. Weapons taken all the time, before anyone gets in front of a judge.

I love the way Trump makes these Lefties move to the middle.

They are not close to figuring him out.

The Left wants to take guns away from everybody but they are against taking them from just the bad guys.

Their agenda is clear!

You're pro 2nd Amendment.

The President doesn't know it exists.

Just the mental gymnastics of supporting Trump. Go against all former principles if it upsets the liberals.

Saints, you're usually a pretty smart guy. Are you suggesting that being willing to ignore something means someone doesn't think it exists? I mean, you know Trump does know it exists, right? You also know he says whatever happens to run through his mind at any given moment, subject to change 5 minutes later, regardless whether it could actually happen. Right?

I was being rhetorical. Pence says to Trump's face hey let's go to court and take guns from people who shouldn't have them. Trump says screw that, they don't need to have due process. How do you believe such a thing without completely ignoring the 2nd and 4th Amendments?

Why not explain what happened in 1997?

Police seize guns when domestic violence is alleged.

It's a good point, obviously guns haven't been treated as an absolute right for some time. But at least domestic violence is a crime where a gun can obviously be used to harm someone, I still don't think that justifies taking guns from people without any kind of finding of wrongdoing or danger. Someone whether it's a cop or a judge has to determine that something has happened that merits taking a gun away.

There's no determining it for the cop. Must take guns into custody. So Trump wants to take guns from mentally ill people and then have a hearing. Same thing.

So if the cops are taking guns from a crazy person who is making the determination if not the cop?

A cop can determine if there has been domestic violence, he can't determine if someone is mentally ill.

The cop can't determine it unless he witnessed it. That doesn't mean the guns aren't seized based on an allegation. And a cop can determine if the subject is mentally ill if he has prescriptions for mental illness. As a matter of fact, it's easier and more accurate to determine mental illness prior to due process than it is an allegation of deomestic violence. Bichs make shite up. A lot.

He's taking them temporarily until due process plays out. A judge will determine if the subject gets them back, just like with DV. Trump never said not to give them due process.

Ok but how is the crazy person with the gun identified in the first place?

I mean if I'm you're neighbor, I anonymously call the cops and tell them you're mentally ill and you have a gun. Is that enough to just raid your house and take your weapons?

By the way I think the domestic violence suspect still has to be arrested. There is in a sense still some probable cause determination, which has due process tied in. I don't think the cops can just show up, knock down the door and take guns.

A mentally ill person isn't arrested and hasn't done anything wrong just be being crazy.

Forget it man. I'm not going down the wormhole. The fact is guns are already taken based on an allegation. Fin'.

I know right? I get a huge  whenever Wiff comes guns blazing (pardon the pun) viewing Trump through the filter of a crowned prince, posting "OMG did you hear what Trump said today?$#@!" I mean, we all know he just spouts whatever pops into his head. I think we all know...

"He's now president for life. President for life. And he's great. And look, he was able to do that. I think it's great. Maybe we'll give that a shot some day."

Rep. Mark Sanford (R-S.C.) left the meeting worried about Trump’s grasp on the basics of the Constitution. At a lunch with reporters afterward, he recalled that the candidate did not seem to know what he was promising to defend.

“I wasn’t particularly impressed,” Sanford said. “It was the normal stream of consciousness that’s long on hyperbole and short on facts. At one point, somebody asked about Article I powers: What will you do to protect them? I think his response was, ‘I want to protect Article I, Article II, Article XII,’ going down the list. There is no Article XII.”

Rep. H. Morgan Griffith (R-Va.), who said he was “uncomfortable” with Trump’s language, gave him a pass on the Constitution flub.

“When he made the comment about the Constitution, I love this article and that article, I assumed he was talking about the amendments, because he was off on the numbers,” he said.

- Sure, it's all just a joke.
