Gepetto 982 Posted December 14, 2017 In case you missed it, Former Detroit Tigers stars Jack Morris and Alan Trammell were elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame on Sunday by the Modern Era Baseball committee.
Cdub100 3,379 Posted December 14, 2017 The 1984 Tigers hold a spot near and dear to my heart, but I agree with this in general. Baseball HOF is a joke. All that being said, you could make an argument for either based on who is already in. People talk about Jack Morris winning more games than any other pitcher in the 1980's without mentioning he also had the most losses in the 1980s too. Trammell's numbers are pretty pedestrian too. Neither one is a HOF'er in my mind. My criteria is simple. I ask you is <insert player name here> a HOF'er? If your answer isn't an immediate "Yes" then almost certainly he shouldn't be one. if you gotta make an argument (including comparing to others already in), then they aren't a HOF'er either. Trammell and Morris both belong in the HOF They where some of the best players in the 80s. When you say pedestrian who are you comparing them to? probably the crop of SS that came after him which isn't fair. In fact not only do those two belong, but Lou Whitaker is more deserving than both of them.
Hardcore troubadour 12,621 Posted December 14, 2017 Well, now that Trammell is in, Mattingly should be getting in as well. The numbers are blatantly better.

I also said that the baseball HOF is a joke and compared to who is already in that you could argue Trammell or Morris getting in for sure.

What changed? His stats hadn't... Just looking at his numbers, nothing really jumps out at me saying that he should be in the Hall and I don't think his post-season numbers is enough to push him in... I get this argument but also has to do with the draft class. Guerrero's stats didn't get better from last year either. Writers want some players to wait it out.
