Family stories...legal issue

Recommended Posts

So my moron sister in law.. who is nothing but a financial drain on her parents...who now live with us if you recall.

Has 4 kids...2 diff dads...one kilked hisself...sad.

She has been living off the public dole for years...

Wont even call her parents unless she needs money

Got a 50k life insurance policy when her son killed hisself.. blew it buying a boat..motorcycle and a camper for her new boyfriend..

Buys a new 2018 car...a month later totals it...comes to find out that she never called progressive to put it on her insurance. She said the dealership was gonna do it. progressive wont pay anything...even for the other guys damaged car. She does have gap insurance up to 120k it says in her paperwork from dealership...

Does she have any hope of getting out of this mess?

She just borrowed 400 dollars from her parents.. to buy tires for a junker so she can drive 45 minutes to her line cook job. She just moved she says because she cant stand her mother.

Its one thing after another...

Oh and the best part...she lives with her boyfriend and her ex husband because he is a special olympian and cannot take care of himself..none of his family wants him..he just gets his check and drinks it away. And she married the guy lol. Luckily no kids involved.

Unless she has something from the dealership about them callng Progressive, she is locked...andd I've never heard of a dealership doing that...perhaps some do, but that sounds nuts.

Also man stay far away. Don't let your wife get involved at all, next thing you know you are on the hook for her!

Dont think gap insurance is triggered if there isnt an underlying active policy.

If she financed it through the dealership they should have required proof of insurance at the time of purchase and signing the note

And to top it all off, his house is now infested with bed bugs.

Many policies cover new vehicles for a certain period of time. How long did she "own" the new vehicle? You said a month but the specific amount of days may be her saving grace.

Still bed bug free (fingers crossed)...no clothing or anything has really come to our house.the few items have been in the dryer for 1 hour prior to entry in our house...

Good. Freezing might work also if you have a chest freezer. I posted that in the other thread.

I bought a car and someone hit it in a parking lot 2 days later, and my insurance covered it.

First and foremost...............did we get a CAN SIZE?!

Second, I'd get that focking idiot out of your focking house. It's only a matter of time before her poor decision making costs you big time.

usually your insurance covers it for no more than a week, but when you buy a new car, the first thing you do is call your insurance company

I call after the deal is done and BEFORE I leave the dealership. Why take the chance........

I'd recommend to Mookz, gocolts, and wiffleball that they all pass on this one.

Give her phone number to an illegal immigrant in desperate need of a green card.

What dealer/finance co lets you drive off the lot without insurance?

This.

And the woman is definitely bat shiat. She's got issues with issues. Hope your wife can separate as much as possible so you don't get drawn in.

Its a point of contention between my wife and I. She has been this way for years...its normal to her parents...just one of those things.

Sorry dude. You have to extricate yourself from this in some way. My bro married bipolar, now separated, and it's a friggin mess. Very smart girl, with a Masters in Psych., but doesn't want to work, addicted to pills, just totaled a 2nd car in a year. Lucky her parents have money and are now footing her bills, because she was destroying my bro.

I wasn't thrilled to learn about the a-flaps and wind suit, but I dunno, I still feel like I should at least hear her out. :ninja:

What a focking mess. Does she have an agent or is she through progressive direct? Also, sue the dealership. It's prolly her only hope, not much of one but...
