chris_dub 0 Posted August 17, 2006 I got a spot in a private keeper league this year. I know a few of the guys in it, including the commish. There's 8 total teams - 5 returing GM's, 3 new ones. The 5 teams from last year each got to select a keeper, then us 3 new ones have a "Expansion keeper draft" before our real draft commences. This is to even up the rosters before starting the draft, since us 3 new GM's weren't in the league last year. The league scoring looks like this: Offensive Scoring TD Thrown: 5 Points TD Rush/Rec: 6 Points Field Goal: 3 Points Extra Point: 1 Point **Points double on plays over 50 yards. QB Total Yardage Bonuses: 200+ Yards: 2 Points 300+ Yards: 4 Points 350+ Yards: 6 Points 400+ Yards: 8 Points 450+ Yards: 10 Points 500+ Yards: 12 Points WR/RB Total Yardage Bonuses: 100+ Yards: 2 Points 150+ Yards: 4 Points 200+ Yards: 6 Points TE Total Yardage Bonuses: 75+ Yards: 2 Points 100+ Yards: 4 Points 125+ Yards: 6 Points 150+ Yards: 8 Points Starting Rosters QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, TE, K, DEF Bench QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, TE, K, DEF Anyways, the 5 keepers from last year are: -Peyton Manning -LT -LJ -Edge -Steve Smith Then the 3 newbies picked like this 1. Reggie Bush ( ) 2. Shaun Alexander 3. Clinton Portis (me) So now the keepers are done, and the first round selections started. It is coming up to my turn, and there's plenty of talent available (since its an 8-team league): FIRST ROUND RESULTS: 1. Scott – Terrell Owens 2. Jeff P – Cadillac Williams 3. Jer (traded to Kris) – Chad Johnson 4. Kris (traded to Jer) – Rudi Johnson 5. Rob – Tiki Barber 6. Art – Larry Fitzgerald 7. Jeff – 8. Chris – So depending on what Jeff does, I have a load of talent at RB to select from...it is very possible that I can grab Ronnie AND S-Jax...Even though we can only have 4 RB's total...is it smart to go with 2 more RB's after selecting Portis? They could be insurance. Or should I go RB-WR? Grab one of Ronnie/S-Jax...and paired with Holt/Harrison/Wayne/Boldin etc. And then grab another RB in the 3rd/4th? Dunn, FWP etc.. Just looking for some feedback...will help in return
WoodDuck2003 0 Posted August 17, 2006 I would have to say if R.Brown and S.Jackson are still available you have to take both of them. There are some very good WRs that you can get in Rd 3 & 4. By doing this if you decide later that you really need help at WR you can always look to package one of your RBs with a lesser WR and make a trade. Top RBs are the key to winning and if you are deep at RBs you control the trade block. Good luck.
tommcd24 0 Posted August 17, 2006 I'd go with RB/RB especially since you aren't getting points for receptions...
chris_dub 0 Posted August 17, 2006 Yeah I was leaning towards going RB/RB to screw these guys over haha...but what if Ronnie or Sjax goes ahead of me. I will obviously get the other one...but then what? Do I pull the trigger on another one right away...or get a top WR?? Then grab my 3rd RB in my next 2 picks..
