cyclone24 1,814 Posted January 20, 2018 BREAKING -- Tom Petty's autopsy report released, shows singer died of an accidental overdose. "the singer was on several pain meds, including Fentanyl patches, oxycodone (Oxycontin), temazepam (Restoril), alprazolam (Xanax), citalopram (Celexa), acetyl fentanyl and despropionyl fentanyl. The reason doctors prescribed the meds was because of a number of medical problems, including emphysema, knee problems and a fractured hip." Jesus....that's some heavy drugs.

listen2me 23 1,542 Posted January 20, 2018 Given by doctors for a bum knee. It is people's fault they abuse these things. But at the end of the day that is ridiculous amount of crap. It is like giving a guy heroin and telling him not to get addicted tho. Lets ban weed tho. Lets try to put it same level as heroin. All about the money and big pharma is the nastiest. shotsup 832 Posted January 20, 2018 Yeah I read that earlier. Hoped it wasn't drugs but deep down knew it was going to be the case. Oh well dead is dead. He had a good life and excellent career.
peenie 1,690 Posted January 20, 2018 I worked for a pain management group and believe it or not....all those drugs are normal for the patients that used our facility. People who have cancer or chronic back pain are prescribed those drugs.

Meds are ridiculous. These sorts anyway.
peenie 1,690 Posted January 20, 2018 That's what I thought when I first started that job. It's normal. It blew my mind the drugs people are prescribed. The doctor explained in a meeting that people are in pain and get accustomed to the medication. I could discuss this issue quite a bit.... The people receiving these drugs claim they need more actually and get angry that they have to come in so often to the doctors office. We have to be sure they are actually taking their meds. Be sure they're not selling them or giving them away. Some will self medicate if they don't get higher dosages. While working there I knew of 2 suicides from people in constant pain and not having enough drugs. I learned not to judge.

listen2me 23 1,542 Posted January 20, 2018 That's what I thought when I first started that job. It's normal. Which is the problem. Im no doc but it is easy to see. Not letting people who abuse their meds off the hook. But that is why they end up like this. The crap is addicting. What is prescribed at first builds up a tolerance. And if you like the way you feel on them soon you will need more.

listen2me 23 1,542 Posted January 20, 2018 That ain't no accident rip Probably was not. But that isnt my point. My point is how does one get on oxy xanex and fentynol? Not saying any one doc is to blame but the system is screwed. Even more screwed up when you r3alize that certain drugs are illegal yet killer addicting drugs are normal. If you cant regulate it then it is bad. If big pharma could get ahold of weed or MDMA and regulate it to the point that people couldnt just produce it on their own....they would. They already do it with heroin. Instead of new iphones and social media bots it would be nice if we could some how find technology in pain relief in some other form than poison.
IGotWorms 3,315 Posted January 20, 2018 There is no pain you are receding A distant ship smoke on the horizon You are only coming through in waves Your lips move but I cant hear what youre saying When I was a child I had a fever My hands felt just like two balloons Now Ive got that feeling once again I cant explain you would not understand This is not how I am I have become comfortably numb

But im sure he knew he had a problem when on these. Im sure it was for pain but im sure he liked the drugs and knew one of these days he was going to mess himself up for good. Big petty fan. Not ridding him of anything. Just sad to see these thins mess up so many lives and eventually kill people.

peenie 1,690 Posted January 20, 2018 I tried to find some sort of commonality. Was it old people, young people, former military, fat people, white people, seemingly wealthier people, handicapped people...there was nothing. It's just people with the right health insurance and pain. But you know what I noticed? 75% of the people had back complaints. That was common. I often thought that people probably just needed a new firm mattress.

That right there is enough to f up their lives eventually. But all of what was on? A certainty.

Strike 3,974 Posted January 20, 2018 Wow! Thats a helluva pharmacy right there. Why are the talented ones always so troubled? WTF is wrong with you. This guy played the entire tour with a bunch of ailments, including a fractured hip which according to the statement on his website progressed to being completely broken. Dude was in pain. He wasn't getting high. I focking feel guilty for being part of the reason he felt so obligated to complete this tour instead of taking care of his health. I hope other artists learn that you can't always just play through it.

But any dramatic girl would have anti depresants. Im not sure if I hate pain meds or anti depressants more as far as screwing up people's lives. Ive seen too many people fall to this stuff. Seriously makes me sick.

shotsup 832 Posted January 20, 2018 How did you get them? The only drug I ever had access to was weed. My friend Dan. Don't exactly know how he got them, knew a pharmacist who want to make side cash I was told. This was late 80's early 90's. They came in a blister pack 3 or 4 pills across and 10 rows down. So 30 (or 40) on a sheet. Sheets folded over 4 or 5 times I don't remember exactly what I was paying but in relative terms it was cheap and a steal. Maybe $.50 a pill. 200 pills $100. Dan could of gotten you anything. Glad he eventually moved to Vermont and I was able to quit my pill habit. With rehab.

Not bad considering. wasn't he from Jacksonville? I think I have heard that area is underrated for music. What more was he going to be to you at this point? I never made a show although I was supposed to. Just not a concert guy and didn't grow up in that era. But my buddy just a few years ago went and said his live shows still rocked.
